TLDR version: Sandie Peggie vs Royal College of Nursing is currently being heard. The hearing started on Wednesday 23 September 2026 and is scheduled to end on Thursday 1 October 2026.

Sandie Peggie, a nurse at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy (VH), brought claims in the employment tribunal against her employer; Fife Health Board (the Board) and another employee, Dr B Upton. Ms Peggie’s claims were of sexual harassment, harassment related to a protected belief, indirect discrimination and victimisation. Dr Upton claimed to be a transwoman, that is observed as male at birth but asserting a female gender identity.

The Employment Tribunal hearing started on Monday 3 February 2025 and after a prolonged process judgment was handed down on 8 December 2025. That judgment is being appealed and an appeal hearing is expected to take place in 2027.

Additional legal claims have been raised. Sandie Peggie is taking action against the Royal College of Nursing, against three senior managers who were witnesses in the employment tribunal - Dr Kate Searle, Dr Maggie Currer and Esther Davidson, against Carol Potter, the chief executive of NHS Fife, for victimisation, against NHS Fife for discrimination, and against its director of people and culture David Miller for harassment. In addition, Sandie Peggie is being investigated by the Nursing and Midwifery Council over fitness to practice.

Here we go. Every tribunal thread needs a recipe discussion.

250g porridge oats (the cheap type, not large ones),
150g Butter,
2 generous tablespoons (75g) Golden Syrup
half a tin condensed milk
baking tin, no bigger than about 18cm x 28cm
Method:
Preheat the oven to 160 degrees c
Line the baking tin with baking parchment.
Melt the butter in a large saucepan over a medium heat and add the syrup. Keep gently heating and stirring until all is melted and mixed.
Add the condensed milk and mix. Bring to the boil for about a minute. If I'm honest, I just bung the milk in at step 3.
Remove from the heat and gradually add the oats, folding them in. All the oats should be coated, and the mixture quite dense, but still sticky. Don't add so many oats that the mixture becomes dry.
Pour the mixture into the tins and spread about so that it lines the tin to a depth of 2-3cm. Don't squash the mixture in, just spread it evenly.
Bake in the oven for about 15mins. You should take them out when they just start to go brown round the edges, don't leave longer than this. If they're still squidgy in the middle that's fine, they set on cooling.

Bloody brilliant. I love flapjacks.

Something worries me, though. Half a tin of condensed milk? What is one supposed to do with the other half?

@oldtiredcyclist Someone very much matching your user name pulled up to my front door last week and gently placed a cricket ball in the parcel box. Then he cycled away.
I was somewhat bemused by this random act of kindness.

Apparently, he found it while cycling near the club further down the road, and a local told him that my son played for them and to drop it off.
But it did make me smile!

It wasn't me, I am very much finished with cycling, after having five years of serious heart problems (hopefully alleviated with the pacemaker being fitted) and reactive arthritis in the elbows and knees. When I was in a club and racing, there were a lot of very kind people who wouldn't think twice about helping others.

UpstartRedstart tribunal work
Lougle DD hosp

Igneococcus migraine
but I see I've been replaced by individual Care Gerbils 'Carebils' being sent out to take care of each of you, which they are much better at doing than me, and infinitely cuter😃
But good wishes to all from me as well as the CarebilsSmile

nauticant · 30/09/2026 10:18

It is interesting for all the talk of inclusivity, what's meant is prioritising the genderism flavour of LGBTQ+ and not being that bothered about anything else.

DH What about excluding individuals through flag

That has literally never dawned on them, what with being so inclusive and all.

It's precisely tge reason I don't allow Pride flags or merch to be on show my NHS service.

I struggle with the fact that staff, who at her level are on a decent wage, fail to see how excluding their inclusivity is.

These aren't stupid people (although some do a good impersonation of one).

It is slow enough to be captured comprehensively in the summaries, I would take a chance on logging in and out/ trying other devices to be ready for Naomi!
