TLDR version: Sandie Peggie vs Royal College of Nursing is currently being heard. The hearing started on Wednesday 23 September 2026 and is scheduled to end on Thursday 1 October 2026.

Sandie Peggie, a nurse at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy (VH), brought claims in the employment tribunal against her employer; Fife Health Board (the Board) and another employee, Dr B Upton. Ms Peggie’s claims were of sexual harassment, harassment related to a protected belief, indirect discrimination and victimisation. Dr Upton claimed to be a transwoman, that is observed as male at birth but asserting a female gender identity.

The Employment Tribunal hearing started on Monday 3 February 2025 and after a prolonged process judgment was handed down on 8 December 2025. That judgment is being appealed and an appeal hearing is expected to take place in 2027.

Additional legal claims have been raised. Sandie Peggie is taking action against the Royal College of Nursing, against three senior managers who were witnesses in the employment tribunal - Dr Kate Searle, Dr Maggie Currer and Esther Davidson, against Carol Potter, the chief executive of NHS Fife, for victimisation, against NHS Fife for discrimination, and against its director of people and culture David Miller for harassment. In addition, Sandie Peggie is being investigated by the Nursing and Midwifery Council over fitness to practice.

I've just noticed the pattern on the top of the speaker I'm listening to this on.

Does it receives 'he' but transmit 'she'?😄

FarriersGirl · 29/09/2026 15:28

Sorry - but I am going to have go in a moment if someone can take over TT.

Maybe NC should ask her if she knows what the year is and who is Prime Minister...🙄

To be fair that has been difficult to track at a few points over the last few years. You go on holiday for a fortnight and when you get home you discover the PM has changed.

FarriersGirl · 29/09/2026 15:29

From TT

NC You as union - no reason for asking Fife board to allow members to talk and organise in workplace
GT don't understand q
NC SP asked you to write to board to confirm that accepts staff have those rights. I suggest nothing in that statement that you as union should object to

nauticant · 29/09/2026 15:30

GT is struggling to agree that union members as a general rule should have the kinds of rights that unions are all about. Her subtext is: subject to them being members holding the right kinds of views.

I actually couldn't answer the PM question on Saturday!

The reply would be 'In what context? Prime minister? Maybe. Depends. On the context'

The idea that this woman agrees with the FWS judgment is for the birds.

Edited

I was very shocked when she originally agreed.

Again, God bless her, I don't know how she is doing it. I know from personal experience what it is like when those criminals lie and close ranks. My relative had sepsis, knew they had sepsis, told A&E they had sepsis and asked for bloods to be cultured. They were told they had no sepsis (they did) and were sent home to die. After their death I lodged a complaint with the Trust (complaint denied) and then I appealed to the Ombudsman. Denied again and they had the audacity to say that 'the best care was provided'. In responses I was referred to as 'aggressive' because I knew the person was dying and that they had sepsis and bloods needed to have been cultured and I emotionally begged for culturing. I was broken after than and even being egged on by friends and family to use a 'conditional fee' (no win no fee in plain speak) arrangement with medical negligence lawyers, I just knew I could not go through with issuing proceedings. I was broken when I read all their reports and lies. All I could do was write to the persons concerned personally as in Dear Dr ....(I named them all in my complaints) and tell them I shall be praying daily, for their children and their families to receive the same sort of 'best care' when their time comes.

ickky · 29/09/2026 15:34

Is she dense?

RoseInAPot · 29/09/2026 15:35

TT

GT No nothing
NC So no reason for you to write as a union to ask for this.
GT No, and I did write
NC So, let's look at how you dealt with that in your letter
NC YOu've put her point 1 in middle, as far as you have dealt with it. Re SP concerned colleagues being told

not to discuss her case and wants assurance nothing done against SP re disciplining against her
NC That's quite different.
GT I got back to SP. It's her case. Would have liked phone call to check understanding and would write email with member.
NC But SP had asked you to write

but you brought it back to her particular case and didn't mention other w
GT Not aware i was doing that. Can see now. But I was concentrating on supporting SP
NC SP was alone. Told was the only one in her case that had a problem, she was the only bigot.

GT Looking at it I can see re SP and that's why a phone call would have been helpful.
NC {re SC judgement ] You ask to confirm that no m even with GRC will be allowed into work place sss. you've changed it
GT No, haven't changed

chilling19 · 29/09/2026 15:35

Ah, it’s all Sandie’s fault - the latest being Sandie not conveying her very clear written instructions by phone. 😡

YouCanCallMeMonster · 29/09/2026 15:35

Oh fuck off Gillian! Don’t blame Sandie for your lack of comprehension/ action.

chilling19 · 29/09/2026 15:36

MarieDeGournay · 29/09/2026 15:27

No not really, I’m not on social media and I don’t watch the news

Boiledbeetle · 29/09/2026 15:37

Sandie didn't want to talk to you Gillian so why the Fuck did you not just communicate through email? It's not bloody difficult. Instead you kept trying to get her to have a phone call.

RoseInAPot · 29/09/2026 15:38

TT

NC SP asked to acknowledge that m are not entitled in to sss and you ask them to say won't let men in, as in they have discretion.
GT Back to, a phone conversation c correspondence with DM would have been helpful
NC SP 2nd point, must treat discrimination on this ground

the same as all PCs. You've taken out SP's request. Turned down
GT Disagree I've turned down. Wrote in my words. A conversation with SP would have been v beneficial
NC SP ends with asking you to tell all members our rights are protected

So, I'm WFTCHTJ.

Highly recommend Pexip!

So sorry to read that, that was a dreadful experience in the first place, and then they put you through all the denials afterwards.
You did your best, and no-one can do more than that, but it sounds heart-breaking. Flowers

In my experience there is only one reason someone presses for phone calls when one has been very clear you want written comms only; they want to say something that they don't want to put in writing.

My iPad ran out of juice on Friday and out I went. I sympathise.

I have never managed to join using my iPad. I can sign in and get to the grey screen and that's as far as I can go. However long I wait I don't get WFTCTJ or the crossed out camera. I know at least one other person has the same problem.

Perhaps you can kindly do a Public Information Post later, when the tribunal is over for today?

CriticalCondition · 29/09/2026 15:40

She's lying again. She knows what she did and why she did it.
