Hang on. I thought trans women in female toilets were never a threat. In fact a trans person at my work told me this never happened…

@rubyslipperswell that we will never know. The same way we don't know which police officers are masquerading as upholding members of society but are actually paedophiles and rapists, as is also demonstrated in this article. Truth is we will never know one way or the other if this a genuine transwoman raping a child or a man pretending to be a transwoman to more easily access and rape a child.

I'm not saying women shouldn't have single sex spaces btw because we should, but I also dislike the assumption some people make and push, that all transwomen want access to women's spaces to do pervy things or rape us. Perhaps this is because I largely see people at one extreme end of the scale who are very transphobic. There are also extreme trans activists too. I suspect most people sit somewhere more in the middle of these two groups, but it can be hard to have a reasonable discussion online without an extreme of one or the other derailing things.

@spannasaurus someone who has gender dysphoria and isn't just pretending to be a woman with the sole purpose of accessing female spaces. The trans people I know (not many granted), hate their biological body parts that demonstrate they are in fact male/female and would rather they didn't have them at all. I suppose not every trans person will be like the ones I know though. The desire to rape someone will come down to the individual and not how they identify.

But then if a woman genuinely felt like and wanted to be a man, she wouldn’t want to do that most female of activities, which is to give birth to a child. But it happens.

It does, but it's pretty rare, the majority won't.

Brummyhelpplease · 15/09/2026 18:53

Women cannot rape anyone with a penis unless they have bought one and stuck it on in which case it is a woman with a strap on. This is a man with a fetish who has raped an innocent kid. Bastard.

Bless

And do think by patronising me with a 'bless' I'm going to change my mind and think 'oh gosh back to lurk is right I'm changing my opinion now'?

I'm Interested in peoples views of both sides of the trans debate, but as I said before it's impossible to have reasonable discussions online which is why I barely bother with this board. If you want people to listen to your views or understand your pov, patronising them isn't the way to make it happen.

PensionPTake The desire to rape someone will come down to the individual and not how they identify.

This supports the argument that a transwoman is as likely, or as unlikely, to commit a rape as any other individual biological male.
The fact that an individual man identifies as women does not change 'the [possible] desire to rape someone'.

This is the reason for keeping trans-IDing men, out of women-only spaces.

The French feminist Dora Moutot is facing a fine and possible imprisonment for saying exactly what you said - that because a man identifies as a transwoman does not remove the risk that he will rape:

No one assumes ALL TW want access to female spaces to do pervy things - that’s your hyperbole. But basic safeguarding is that males are not allowed access to female spaces. For safety, privacy and dignity. Same reason as teachers can’t be alone with a child till their DBS check has come through. No one hyperbolises that teachers are perves though or objects to the DSB.

And before anyone says DSB checks aren’t foolproof - I know. The point is that no one objects to them or feels the finger is being pointed at them if they’re asked to complete one. Yet require a TW to use male facilities and apparently it’s because we think they’re all pervert rapists.

Do you think that "genuine transwomen" should be allowed to use female single sex spaces? If so, how would this work in practice without allowing men who pretend to be transwomen into those female spaces?

There are 32 posts on this thread so far.
One of them was one word which was patronising.
But that's enough to make you 'barely bother with this board.'
One word is enough to cancel out the 'reasonable discussions' in other posts?

You mean a weirdo masquerading as a transwoman raped a child?

He probably feels legit. Plus how can anyone know who is a risk?

Minasama · 15/09/2026 19:32

I imagine (would like to see evidence) that rates of mental illness are far higher among the trans population than among the non-trans population. This alone would seem a good reason not to allow them to use the toilets of the weaker sex, who are necessarily more physically vulnerable.

TransParentlyAnnoyed · 15/09/2026 19:33

Genuinely evil, and yet another instance of a sexually violent police officer harming a child.

1 in 10 Met officers here investigated for serious sex offences. How are we ever meant to trust the police when they're not vetted properly?

Their gender is irrelevant. Their personal responsibility is what matters and oh my god what a horrific individual. That poor child.

Using that child's pain to further your transphobia, and posting with (as someone else pointed out) a horribly snarky comment, is something I can't comprehend. The victim is who matters, always.

Theeyeballsinthesky · 15/09/2026 19:43

Their gender is irrelevant

for once TPA you're completely right

their gender is indeed irrelevant, it's their sex that matters which is why we keep men out of women's spaces like toilets

and all TW are men

You missed the bit about it being a TW who raped a girl. You know - a man. Someone whose sex is male. His gender matters not one jot.

I wonder if the girl thought they were female and therefore believed she was safe.

No women and girls should have single sex spaces. Safeguarding should be the priority.

ApplebyArrows · 15/09/2026 19:51

There are statistical indicators that men who claim to be trans may actually commit sex crimes at a higher rate than men who don't claim to be trans. Trans-identifying rapists are no more outliers amongst the trans population than rapists are outliers amongst the male population generally. And we don't let men into women's spaces just because most men aren't rapists.

ShutupLwren · 15/09/2026 19:54

Because of the plea deal the rapist can expect to serve 3 -3 and a half years in prison.
What a pathetic fucking sentence.

That poor little girl, unless I’ve read the article incorrectly she knew him? She must have been fucking terrified. I hope she’s given the best possible therapy and support.

Acceptance without exception

I am what I say I am

... and yet, weirdly, not if you say

  • I am the Emperor Napoleon
  • I hear voices from God that tell me what to do
  • I am a skilled surgeon even though I have never completed a degree in any subject, never mind medicine
  • I am a toddler trapped in the body of an elderly man
  • I am white but I identify as Black
  • I am transabled and I will use a wheelchair as and when I want to even though I am perfectly capable of walking when I feel like it

Chersfrozenface · 15/09/2026 19:59

The poor girl will have been told that this person is a woman.

For one thing, it is now illegal in Germany to say that a man who has officially registered as a woman is in fact male.

nutmeg7 · 15/09/2026 20:01

Crudd99 · 15/09/2026 18:11

If they feel they are women why do they keep their penis? I'm a woman and as a woman feel the last thing I'd want would be keeping my penis.

Because those for whom this is a sexual thing can lose their sex drive (and therefore their desire to objectify themselves as a woman) if they lose their penis.

They are not women. Some are men who hate being gay, some are men who are autistic, but many more (according to psychologists in the field) are men with a sexual interest in presenting as women and don’t hate their penis at all.

Wafting away the perpetrator there. Nothing to see here.

You are always on here hyperbolically arguing that we should just let trans identified males into women’s places and we are big meanies for suggesting that this is not good from a safeguarding point of view.

I think it is perfectly legitimate to ask some hard questions about the policies that remove women’s ability to draw a line between female people and males who think they are female.

It is possible to be concerned for the poor victim and at the same time ask some hard questions about just what a shit idea it is to allow men to self-ID their way into female spaces.
