They need to investigate properly and that includes discovering whether Amnesty have created a culture of discrimination against those with gender critical views. Have they sent staff on training courses that promote gender ideology. Have they bullied staff over pronouns etc?

I agree, if bias can be unconscious it can be blatantly obvious as well, it can colour all of the work of the organisation.

I also wonder why a Human Rights Organisation needs a Gender Director, and why the hell it's spending any time on developed worlds when there are about 120 undeveloped countries in the world that might benefit from international attention being given to the governmental abuses that are going on inside it's borders.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 31/07/2026 15:59

RedToothBrush · 31/07/2026 14:03

Ok thats an apology from the international section.

Why isn't Amnesty UK also offering an apology? What action is being taken against those members of staff responsible for this?

Is there some retraining going on? Is there disciplinary action going on?

This is important as otherwise it's merely lip service to shut up the solicitors.

Maybe AIUK have gone rogue.

That Reddit thread is hilarious. They actually
believe they’re an oppressed minority instead of the most pandered to group of all time.

they have received hundreds of thousands of pounds of taxpayer money to support men “breastfeeding”. Public money spent on supporting a male fetish and harming vulnerable babies. And they think they’re hard done by.

That thread is comedy gold, more than usual. “Why are they more scared of TERFs than ACTUAL DICTATORS?”

allthingsinmoderation · 31/07/2026 16:34

I think apologies are of no use unless there is an explanation of why the error was made.
It smacks of a forced sorry to avoid litigation.

icingonmycupcake · 31/07/2026 16:50

Apologies produced wholly to offset potential litigation mean diddly squat. I've no doubt it will have been made through gritted teeth, without any genuine remorse.

I really wish they'd been dragged into court. It would have destroyed them reputationally. And sent a very strong message to other charities who prioritise the 'desires' of men, over the rights of women and girls.

Shedmistress · 31/07/2026 17:16

Apologies alongside an apology for apologising really is quite the look.

Rumplestiltz · 31/07/2026 17:45

Can anyone share the message to supporters about the apology?
it’s interesting how buried the statement is on their page, below 2 older press releases.

Haha good luck with that, as both sides will amplify it hugely.

WomanInnaWoods · 31/07/2026 19:03

@Rumplestiltz here you go

Amnesty apologises - "An Apology for A Growing Threat briefing, published on 8 July 2026" apology published 31st July 2026
Arran2024 · 31/07/2026 19:09

Notice they have only apologised for publishing the report, not for the contents. They recognise the concerns of those labeled "anti rights" and apologise for using the term. The apology to Beira's Place is for including them in this description.

But they have not apologised for the report or its overall content.

SockPlant · 31/07/2026 20:33

that Reddit thread is interesting: TRAs being advised not to send donations to Amnesty any more.

Women and terfs already came to that conclusion.

So. Bye, then, don't let the door hit your backside on the way out.

PeachyDaisy · 01/08/2026 06:16

I'm not expecting an explanation as to how it happened. It was obviously a lapse in judgement (they thought it was legally/socially acceptable to brand gender critical organisations anti-rights). I guess they have learnt that it is not so.

I fully expect them to continue to campaign for trans rights but to do so in more legally sound ways.

Yello24 · 01/08/2026 06:28

@TheywontletmehavethenameIwant 100%. By selling themselves as a charity that provides support and hope to those with no other recourse they are no longer fit for purpose.
I used to have a regular donation to them as I would love to support an organisation that intervenes for incarcerated and desperate people in despotic places with human rights abuses. What on earth are they doing spending their time on gender wang in the UK?

SodThisHeadache · 01/08/2026 06:45

@PeachyDaisy
"I fully expect them to continue to campaign for trans rights but to do so in more legally sound ways".

What rights do trans-identifying people lack in this country?

SodThisHeadache · 01/08/2026 06:48

I posted this on the other thread:

"WomanInnaWoods · Yesterday 13:58
The report was so unpromoted it made it into Amnesty's Pride Month 2026 Parliamentary Briefing.
https://nitter.poast.org/WRNNorfolk/status/2083137719908147317#m"

This deserves to be amplified. So the report made it into not only at least two podcasts but also a Parliamentary Briefing. "Not promoted' my arse.

RareGoalsVerge · 01/08/2026 07:00

Yes not sure how the Early Day Motion 603 that "this House expresses extreme concern at Amnesty International UK's report entitled A Growing Threat: the Anti-Rights Movement in the UK, published on 8 July" could have been initiated if the report was not promoted in any way.

Fortunately it only ever got the 6 signatures needed to actually be tabled and got no more (one assumes no one else will sign it now, but anyone who does will be revealing themselves to be an utter numty)

To be fair, I think it is answered - and the answer is usually along the lines of 'the right to go anywhere I want and the right to have everything I want'.

There weren't attacking you but wanted clarification from your post.

What trans rights do you want AI UK to campaign for? Trans people already have the same rights as non trans people in the UK.

She was attacking me. Saying the words ‘trans rights’ doesn’t mean that I automatically support trans rights. For example, if I said ‘republicans in the US are campaigning for gun rights’ or ‘republicans are generally pro-life’ it doesn’t mean I support gun rights or that I am pro-life myself.

People are so hostile/uncharitable on this forum. You can’t breathe without being accused of being secretly a TRA. Everyone will presume the worst of you based on absolutely nothing. We are supposed to be on the same side!

PeachyDaisy · 01/08/2026 10:18

Also if she wants clarity around what “rights” amnesty are campaigning for, she needs to contact them. I am not their spokesperson, in fact I have absolutely nothing do with their organisation (nor any other TRA organisation)

SirChenjins · 01/08/2026 09:33

To be fair, I think it is answered - and the answer is usually along the lines of 'the right to go anywhere I want and the right to have everything I want'.

This might be the most disingenuous (understatement) aspect of the whole, rotten movement. Activists will lie about EVERYTHING (biological sex, crime stats, even things they have posted and said, when we all have the receipts). They lie and lie until they don't even know what reality is anymore. They pretend (or pretend to really believe) that their lies ARE reality. And they have tried to force everyone else to lie as well.

And yet...

I have never once heard or read an activist say that what they want is 'the right to go anywhere I want and the right to have everything I want'.

Which is actually the truth.

So they know when to lie and when not to lie. They know exactly what they're doing, all these "vulnerable" flowers.

If everything else they say isn't true, then why should we be expected to go along with it?

Conversely, if the rest of what they say IS true, then why is it not ok to say the truth about what they actually need want?

Because they know that this would be the end of their movement.

You understand the motion was critical of the Amnesty report? It was not supportive.
