Croeso/Welcome to the Bluestocking Women's Pub, with our lovely gerbil staff, the icy Mojito foot-bath for those of you fed up with the heat, a Quilting/Craft Nook, lots of yummy food and drink with zero calories, gluten, or allergens, the Gerbil World Cup, and a brand new magic pool that becomes a babbling brook whenever you want it to!

Come on in! All women welcome! (Men welcome at The Staunch Ally pub down the road aways)

(security provided by the capybaras, lovely folk, but try not to get in their way)

(oh, and don't mention triangles, please. Gubbins gets very overexcited)

(did we mention the Gerbil World Cup?)

Can't believe I missed that!

Also a bit perturbed that the BS appears to be full of men in my photo.

It will be Clara and the rest of the capybaras wearing man costumes. They were huddled up earlier talking about storming the Staunch Ally to see if they could find Caroline's socket set that she lent to Calvin in May, but he's never returned them. There is a rumour they are in the store cupboard of the staff room.

MyrtleLion · 12/07/2026 22:18

I am here.

The gerbils were very sleepy. I had hoped we would have a quarter final this evening but it’s a no from Griselda.

EmpressaurusKitty · 12/07/2026 22:00

We’re right behind you with the craft room, @EdithStourton. It turned out to be far easier putting the whole thing in the trailer - amazing what you can fit in one of those, even if some baskets had to be hung on the side.

Can the gardening gerbils make sure the catnip patch gets replanted?

I see that you too drive a Valtra.

My Valtra-coloured nail varnish is due to arrive tomorrow.

Hussie, I hope Hunter feels better soon.

And someone needs to boot all those blokes out of the Bluey. Happy to help.

And good luck with the dentist, Empress.

And many thanks to Angle for the thread...

Oh, I'd better stand down...

EdithStourton · 12/07/2026 22:23

One thing that puzzles me, thread after thread....

How come all these marvellous sets of PJs come in size Beetle, but finding PJs in long is almost impossible?

It seems to be Long Tall Sally, or make your own.

EmpressaurusKitty · 12/07/2026 22:24

I see that you too drive a Valtra.

The capybaras produced it for me when I mentioned that it was difficult to fit everything from the craft room into a wheelbarrow. They even loaded it for me, which explains the whole room being able to fit in.

Oh, I'd better stand down...

Isn’t it nice how there’s always a logical explanation for everything in the BS?Grin

I’ve got the solution to your dilemma at the end of the last thread:

Both Hansa and Discworld still in.
What on earth will I do if they meet in the final?

It’s obvious, you just need to split yourself down the trouserlegs of time so you can support both of them simultaneously.

The company the giraffe pjs come from do actually have a tall section, and helpfully they put the size and height of their models in as well.

Oh thank goodness. I thought we might have to stage an intervention.

Evening all, and many thanks to you @AngleofRepose for the shout out in the previous location and for setting us up in this very lovely new place!

...ooh, has it got shutters? - how lovely! Very continental, just the ticket for hot weather....

I'm hovering, as I very much want to go to bed but my washing machine is tantilisingly sooooo nearly done... c'mon, c'mon!

Oh it's done. Right! Off to deal with the washing. Goodnight all 😘

It could be that they are frequently sent to me, in error.

The only way I can get PJ trousers which I don’t trip over is to buy ones described as both “extra short” and “capri length.”
I’m 5’ 4”, which I thought surveys often showed was the average height for a British woman of my age.

Chickadeeinme · 13/07/2026 03:14

I avoid pyjama issues by almost never wearing them. I have nighties that are like elongated T shirts and in hot weather like this I adopt the Marilyn Monroe tactic of wearing nothing but a spray or Chanel No.5 (ok it’s deodorant but you get the gist). I do possess one pair of pyjamas, which I take with me when I’m staying in somebody else’s house where I may have to avoid startling the inhabitants by going to the bathroom in the middle of the night in my shortie nightwear, or lack of it.

EdithStourton · 13/07/2026 07:08

Fabulous solution, Errol, thank you. Just keep supporting both. At least I'll be happy whichever wins.

DauntlessDamson · 13/07/2026 07:09

Good morning everyone <walks in gingerly, dripping water across the floor>.

Sorry I'm a bit wet, I fell into a babbling brook half-way across the garden. I'm sure that wasn't there before🤔

Thanks for the new thread and for the reminder Angle Long day yesterday and fell straight into bed last night.

Large latte please gerbils..... oh, and a couple of towels.

Boily, thank you! This house is bloody cold during the night in winter, plus my body temperature drops a lot when I sleep (sometimes when I wake up I can feel it rising noticeably).
And for a company to twig that the gangly of leg are often also gangly of arm is nothing short of a miracle. I will be exploring that website.

And Glad, perhaps we should compare notes on PJ sources.... M&S, bloody useless for the lanky of leg.

I make my own. I drafted a very simple trouser pattern (elastic waist, pockets) that suffices for pj's, summer wear or lounging about, depending on which fabric I use.

This is something I have considered in the past. I have a basic trouser pattern that I've used, and need to dig out again.

Thanks for the reminder.

AngleofRepose · 13/07/2026 07:33

Morning! Gerbils, can I get some coffee and a cheesy omelette, please? I don't think I can take another bowl of bran flakes! It was positively chilly just before 6am, was not expecting that. Maybe today's heat will be downgraded (one can hope, I need to go out today...eek!)

And...one for my Business Partner Fuzzy... just because...

(ps. we're making loads of dosh, yes, we are, selling... um...selling...psssst. Fuzzy, what are we selling again?)

Sorry, Damson! I've asked the capybaras to put up a warning sign (y'know, Deep Water and Occasionally Shallow Pebbly Brook Mind How You Go)

Well, unexpected- only 29C today yippee! And a breeze, so I might get to go for a walk (does this mean I actually have to find suitable "outside" clothes?) Gerbils, I'll need a hot chocolate for that!

Morning Angle. (Never gets old)...
Thanks for the new thread, someone must have transferred me while I slept!

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 13/07/2026 08:18

I am going to be spending 8+ hours in an air conditioned car, so I am a happy wolef. And I bought myself a cuddly wolef at the zoo yesterday - dh realised, far too late, that being in a mobility scooter means I can take myself round the gift shop and do independent shopping. I also bought an axolotl, a flamingo and a red panda for the grandchildren - and when the eldest was pondering a name for the red panda, I suggested Rosy, and she thought that was a fine idea. On her sisters’ behalf, she has named the axolotl Karen, and the flamingo, Carrot.

Do you have a principled objection to wearing men's PJs? They're pretty long.

I. an habitual PH wearer, am currently happy that I found a sleeveless nightdress yesterday in my wandering round the house. Must have a look and see are there any more of them, it's very cool and airy. I have put 2 pillows and a duvet in the washing machine. If anything can cause rain, pegging them out will do it.
