A report on 'anti gender actors' from Amnesty appears to be a puzzling work of jumbled nonsense and overwrought fiction.

Either they completely fail to grasp what 'gender critical' means, or they are deliberately trying desperately to bundle it in with Xtian rightwing US organisations. Maybe both.

Trans activists have been accusing UK feminists of being rightwing Xtian US fundamentalist funded for years. Sometimes it's funny, more often it's just fucking tedious.

Anyway.

What the everloving fuck do they think they mean, here?

Feminists 'target' the rights of women? In terms of - feminists have fought long and hard for the rights of women? Yes, well done, Amnesty.

Then they whang on a lot about abortion and well funded US rightwing organisations, including religious groups, etc.

And then ...

'In fact, gender critical organisations only account for 2.5% of total expenditure but have been remarkably successful in realising their agenda through strategic litigation and campaigning.'

The list at the end should give them a wee clue. Dozens of feminist organisations, almost all listed as 'informal', yet lumped in bizarrely with massive US anti abortion groups.

The Amnesty quote is interesting: “Human rights protections are strongest when they apply equally to everyone, and no community should be singled out for unfair treatment or denied their dignity and rights.”

Women of course aren’t a community, we’re a sex.

And Amnesty used to campaign for individual rights to freedom of speech and conscience.

Their thinking seems to have been increasingly sectarian over the years.

The organisation demands an apology from Amnesty on the front page of its website and published and pinned to all social media accounts.

It said: “We seek an unreserved apology directly addressed to us, in terms to be agreed with us, in a formally signed and certified letter that we can keep on permanent record to use as needed...'

“We ask for an ex gratia payment, in recognition of the time we have lost dealing with your actions, which we would accept in lieu of pursuing any more substantial form of financial settlement.”

Meanwhile, Rowling posted on X: “Amnesty’s attack on Beira’s Place has left me burning with the kind of fury that mounts with every passing hour.”

This is awesome.

When righteous women are right it's one thing, when righteous women have been fucked over for fucking years and emerge raging and even more right, it's something else.

Oh dear. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned until it meets the women's groups attacked publicly by a mra group. And now Hell is starting to bubble and heave like an active volcano.

If all of the wronged groups demand public letters of apology, Amnesty’s not going to have much room to post anything else for a while.

That's a cracker of an article. Single sex spaces for African women but not western women? Are they assuming no-one in Africa is trans/non-binary/hemisexual-but-only-on-Wednesdays? Or that gender ideology is something that only applies to the first world?

Somehow I suspect that manages to be transphobic and racist...

It has also prompted me to do some digging into another well known charity. I have supported ActionAid for a number of years partly because it's projects are very much focused on supporting women and girls in poor countries. There is a lot about feminism on its website but some digging into research and publications finds they are full on TWAW. They even suggest in one publication that women should be spelt womxn to avoid discrimination!!

That is yet another DD to cancel. 🙄

I have supported WaterAid for some years and so thought that I should examine them a bit more closely. A significant part of their work focuses on menstrual health in the developing world where girls may miss 1 school week out of 4 because not only is menstruation shameful, there are no clean and safe toilets in their schools.
All good but then I found this footnote in a publication -

We recognise that not all women and girls menstruate, and not all people who menstruate are women. The term ‘women and girls’ is used in this briefing to increase readability, but should be understood as people who menstruate, including women, girls, transgender people, and nonbinary people.

I am inclined to think that someone in HQ said 'well we'll have to sound inclusive' but that on the ground it's not an issue that sees daylight. I'd welcome views please.

All they need to say is "we use women and girls to refer to the female sex". That includes all the relevant people.

I was wondering the same thing. They are a charity I have supported in the past, and was thinking of switching back to them. The workd needs clean water and proper sanitation more than ever now that the planet is warming.

I did wonder about the little footnotes here and there. I very much doubt that anyone working in person at these projects has the time or resources to consider how "non-binary" fits into suitable water provision.

I suppose there's no real way of finding out if they really have made changes. There will always be predators are drawn to children's charities and vulnerable situations. I used to donate to PLAN, but it was a very long time ago.

WaterAid was one of the first charities I started supporting with regular donations, more than 20 years ago. I hope that garble about ‘people who menstruate’ has just been inserted to placate virtue-signallers, and that WaterAid remains sane and focused on its simple and sensible target of enduring clean water supplies.

But just including that nonsense is harmful. A lot of people, especially young or with little education, trust people they believe are educated and well informed.
