We do talk about time dragging though when we’re bored.

I wondered if 'on the drag' was anything to do with dragging anchor - but that means moving when you should be stationary, doesn't it?

We don't use it in Hiberno-English, nor 'rum', which I 'hear' it in a North of England accent, but I'll adjust my thinking to include East Anglia now.

It looks like you can safely continue to identify as a straw-chewing yokel, Edith, on the basis of 'on the drag'😄

Since the subject of nail polish has popped up again - which of you came up with the idea of matching tractor and nail colours? Only in the Bluey, eh?😂

Well, we used to have a poster called @ShinyBlueTractor and I think that would be a fine name for a nail varnish.

My toenails are a sort of eau de nil with holographic shimmer at the moment. If you could turn that into a car paint you'd make a killing!

DeanElderberry · 30/06/2026 17:22

I had to write something today, about 300 words, I had nearly three weeks to do it. I've cleaned bits of floor that haven't been cleaned for years and have a big bag full of cat hair for the organic waste bin and another big bag of assorted grot for the assorted grot bin.

But then I wrote my words.

So now I can go and meet my pals in the pub, and we can eat our tea/dinner and work out what we do with their words and mine.

🍽

FuzzyPuffling · 30/06/2026 17:23

My toenails have a coat of clear.
It needs a better name...." Spring Water" or "Fresh Air".

Are you feeling quite all right, Boily? Some of those look suspiciously like vegetable matter.

Erm... Well... Errr... Bugger! <thinks>... Mushrooms have a meaty texture, and aren't tomatoes fruit or something?

Tomatoes are fruit, botanically speaking. However, as the saying goes, Knowledge is knowing tomatoes are fruit. Wisdom is not putting them in fruit salad.
In other words, you ain't got a leg to stand on! 😂

I'll allow the mushrooms though, they can be considered closer to animals than plants.

In the days when i had a red car, I painted some small scratches with nail varnish. It worked a treat.
Not a whole car though.

They’re not green veg though. Those are the ones you’re probably averse to, you’re probably ok with sweetcorn and cauliflower too.

ooh, there’s another of those words, Boily is a verse!

ErrolTheDragon · 30/06/2026 17:53

Our neighbours had a Mazda which was a lovely rich metallic red not unlike the polish shown upthread.

This is true. I do try various green vegetables every now again, and do actually like the taste of some of them, but my digestive system doesn't cope well with them

Sweetcorn is delicious. Cauliflower is the devil's work.

Almost all vegetables are lovely except for beets and chard (taste like dirt) and okra (slimy).

Many, many vegetables are botanically fruit but that doesn't stop me loving them.

Who's Queenie? Camilla?

ErrolTheDragon · 30/06/2026 18:31

I quit painting my toenails for a few years but had to start again last year when one was a fetching dark purple after I stubbed it on the bath.
Fingernails though… how the hell does anyone who isn’t ambidextrous do their non dominant hand neatly? And then they just get chipped in no time.

Yes, see here https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/womens_rights/5548892-queen-and-queen?utm_campaign=thread&utm_medium=app_share

I like beetroot especially in a goat cheese and walnut salad. I’m not sure I’ve ever eaten chard, just admired its glowing colours in National Trust etc kitchen gardens.

Waitwhat23 · 30/06/2026 18:39

I got what I thought was rhubarb in a organic veg box delivery and made a rhubarb crumble with it.

It was not rhubarb. It was chard.

It did not taste good.

I was a bit meh about cauliflower until I had Creme du Barry soup at a French Caribbean restaurant. Utterly delicious. I cannot recreate it properly at home as I always over colour the onions.

Well it depends what he looks like, a hairy one might not be good.
