Simon Blake's (CEO Stonewall) take on the reasons we need this Conversion Bill (from 25 June 2026):
https://www.stonewall.org.uk/news/when-our-community-is-under-attack-we-organise-we-fight-we-overcome
A few choice excerpts (my bold):
Meaningful action has been delayed while the ongoing debate itself has pathologised LGBTQ+ people and left young people, in particular, at increased risk of self-harm, suicide and poorer mental health. [ah, ye olde "suicide ideation" - Simon, you'll need to try harder]
At a time of great turbulence when many people in our diverse and wonderful community need to hear this parliament to say unequivocally that Lesbian, Gay, Bi, Trans and Queer people do not need changing. [not a complete sentence] We are good exactly as we are. [Simon, you haven't spoken to Nancy, have you?]
Stonewall’s vision is a world where everyone everywhere has equal rights. [funny guy]
significant gap in equality protections for trans people in the UK following the Supreme Court judgment and subsequent EHRC guidance. [well, that's just a lie]
.......………
Note the use of LGBTQ+ throughout. I haven't seen "Trans+" in a while- maybe it was tried for a while but hasn't taken?
