Do you avoid the bathroom if there is a transwoman?

1000 replies

PeachyDaisy · 06/05/2026 02:05

I’m going to an industry event next week and I know there will be a transwoman attending. Should I use the disabled bathroom to avoid an awkward encounter or just continue to use the women’s and hope not to run into them?

The argument that DSDs are evolution in action make me laugh.

It's not evolution, it's something going wrong on an individual's developmental pathway. Like my hip dysplasia.

Apart from anything else sexual reproduction is the route by which evolution takes place so an outcome that results in sterility is an evolutionary dead end

So human biology isn’t as simple as the simple folk would like to believe and we currently only know a fraction of it

Not quite.

While human biology is vastly varied, it is also remarkably stable. There are so many unique variations of human bodies, but they reliably fall into two sex categories.

That you keep invoking those people with Differences of Sex Development in your arguments that sex categorisation of humans is very complicated is getting offensive. People with differences of sex development can’t be reliably categorised as either male or female. Their bodies are not your tool to destabilise human sex categories.

At this point though, your appeal to the unknown is ridiculous. We know a lot already about human sex categories. I doubt that any future finding will discover another sex category of human, or will deviate from the current understanding that allows medical specialists to categorise sex categories.

That is you trying to make completely unknown future findings support your argument. That, to me, comes under a faith statement where you desperately want to believe something that doesn’t any strength of evidence outside that faith statement.

sorry about the typo

”People with differences of sex development can’t be reliably categorised as either male or female.”

Is of course the opposite.

People with differences of sex development CAN be reliably categorised as either male or female.

Small screen. Sorry about that

STRAWBERRIES HAVE SEXUAL ORGANS??😮

Cue very very old strawberry joke:
'If we hadn't been in the same bed together, we wouldn't be in this jam now'

Strawberries ARE sexual organs.

The human species is evolving and it’s too late for your closed minded opinions. You can protest and fight back as much as you like, but your bigotry will not survive. You will eventually die along with your narrow minded views, and the younger generation will take over with much more empathy and understanding. Keep being angry if you wish but it’s not going to get you anywhere.

i believe the anger is coming from people like you.

I’m just into my mid 30’s. I may not be the ‘younger’ generation, but I am raising 3 of them.
I can assure you that you’re very, very wrong. I will ensure my children will never be indoctrinated by people that have no understanding of reality. It is impossible to change biological sex and science confirms this.

I have several young people (16-28 yr olds) in my family and in my much wider social circle that may have in the past felt sympathetic towards people that were insisting they’d achieved the impossible and changed their natal sex. But once they started making demands the sympathy soon wore off.

For the human race to survive, to put it bluntly, sperm and egg need to meet. Males taking artificial hormones in their futile efforts to mimic the egg producing cohort of the human species are rendering themselves infertile.

Of course there will always be the handmaids willing to become the incubators for those ‘new type women’ but with such inferior sperm in the mix, will also find their role become redundant. Swapping terms such as male/female requires permission from the rightful holders of those terms. I do not give my permission.

This place isn’t an echo chamber. It’s just a community of people that are willing to provide evidence to support reality and where the confused might learn something they might not want to acknowledge.

It’s time the Trans community and their echo chamber acknowledge they’ve lost, not just the battle but the war.

edited to clarify that that's a quote from Plasticdreams, not me.

Morning, Plasticdreams!
Here I am, still alive, still lesbian AF and still gender-critical AF.
How are you and your narrow minded views doing today?

It is a serious question we are not allowed to ask. We are required by MN to pretend sections 6D30-6D3Z in the International Classification of Diseases doesn’t exist.

On the unsayable, both Blanchard and Dr Hakeem (but I am sure others) have studied this area and they believe that a large percentage of males who embrace a trans identity are encouraged to "transition" for paraphilic / fetishistic reasons. It clearly can be sexual or we wouldn't have online porn of men excitedly wanking in women's toilets.

I hope the fact that this is true and not a generalised statement defining ALL trans people will save this post from deletion. I think Blanchard estimated 80% upwards.

I do think though, while dsd can be categorised as male or female, it’s not that straightforward in many cases.

these aren’t people with normal sexual development think they’re born in the wrong body, or have a lady brain, or that they can actually change sex. They shouldn’t be included in the trans debate.

there used to be a lovely lady on here with CAIS I think it was. External female genitalia, nothing suspicious. Normal upbringing.

got to 15 ish and realised that puberty wasn’t just late, it wasn’t happening at all. Devastating diagnosis, life changing. No children, no normal life.

she left because a very vocal set of mumsnetters who were very black and white about Y chromosome means you’re a man. Correcting people referring to individuals with dsd as she “he, he has a Y chromosome, it’s he”

This lady said being female was all she had known. She didn’t feel in the slightest bit male, the idea that if people found about her condition would start telling her she’s a man pretending to be a woman was horrifying.

Those are the people who are really getting the shitty side of the trans argument.

FGS. “Safety in numbers”. He’s using the toilet at a work event, what do you think he’s planning on doing in there? Hiding behind the cubicle door waiting to pounce on every unsuspecting woman that comes in?! 🤣

Getting a sexual thrill out of being in a women only space? Using the unconsenting women using the facilities as part of his fetish?

There are a group who may be phenotypically female while being having testes ( regardless of whether they are working / not working / body processing the output from those testes) making them male , I agree. There are also accomodations needed for this group.

They don’t destabilise the sex categories though. They fit into the male sex category with their wide variation of body differences. That is the point of saying the sex categories are reliable.

How society then makes accommodations for this group of people are very different (eg sport) to the transgender discussion despite the laziness of some people bringing them into the discussion as a destabilisation resource.

Grayson Perry is quite open about it as a reason for dressing up - and that the increased acceptability of men wearing women’s clothes has reduced the thrill for him. But MN want us to pretend it isn’t the case.

FranticFrankie · 08/05/2026 15:13

Yes I care. Very much so

Same old same old
'sex assigned at birth' along with the 'who cares' and 'intersex' FFS
Along with the inevitable insult of "simple folk" like the TRAs have all the answers
And young people know blah blah
Newsflash - things are changing no matter how hard you try to avert it
Agree- very dull and very predictable

The posters above may want (although probably won't) to check out thread ' it never happens'
And even ' break it down for me'
Or maybe read the news

I don’t like using unisex loos because men make such a mess but apart from that it doesn’t bother me. Most trans people are just that really and not weird perverts. You will always get the odd wrongun but they are few and far between.

The odd wrongun? Ah, I understand now. Women are expected to simply accept that trans women (who are biologically male) have intruded upon their safe spaces—spaces that will no longer be as safe—and remain silent? This is disgraceful. We shouldn't have to put up with even one wrong-un. One is far too many.

Dr Az Hakeem reckons it's 100% to a greater or lesser degree. If you think about it it's obviously going to be sexual. How could it not be?

I get your point but what Blanchard suggests is there are two types: homosexual transexuals and AGPs. The homosexual transexuals are transitioning for many reasons, sure, but they don't necessarily do so fetishistically or as a paraphilia. They often feel it is unacceptable to be same sex attracted so transition for acceptance. Sadly.
