Do you avoid the bathroom if there is a transwoman?

1000 replies

PeachyDaisy · 06/05/2026 02:05

I’m going to an industry event next week and I know there will be a transwoman attending. Should I use the disabled bathroom to avoid an awkward encounter or just continue to use the women’s and hope not to run into them?

I'm waiting with bated breath to find out, finally, the way we tell a genuine trans-identified male from a non-genuine trans-identified man. If we could solve this issue, it would make a few things easier to address, then we can move on to how we can tell that a trans-identified male is no longer male, but is now, miraculously, female, and we can all go home and stop worrying about this!

Tag team will be along any time now.

Blimey, that was quick! I’m calling you Mystic Meg from now on!

Mumsnet is declared as anti trans so enjoy your little echo chamber, but it’s not the feeling of the younger generations and they are ultimately the future.

😂😂😂
oh dear, ALL of mumsnet has been declared anti trans (by whom? Are there special awards?) and all us horrid old people will die soon cos we are so mean.

Hope you grow up eventually @Plasticdreams and get a wider perspective on the world and deeper understanding of human nature. The world is not black and white and as simple as you believe.

How do u even know if someone is trans?
How much time are you spending in toilets checking out people's genitals?
I go into public bathroom more concerned about cleanliness, toilet paper and working hand dryers. Barely make eye contact or look at anyone to worry about their sex/gender. Where are these toilets that trans people are shaking their willies about in public??

Are people still spouting this pish?!

You do realise people have been able to correctly sex other humans since the beginning of time without looking at their genitals? Even with ‘costume’.

BINGO!

I haven’t heard ‘but you have gender neutral toilets at home’ in a while.

I don’t give a fuck. If they have a willy or ever had one they don’t belong in the ladies.

hello by the way

Do you actually care? Scientifically, biological sex is not just XX = female and XY = male. There are natural variations in chromosomes, hormones, and sexual development, including intersex conditions where people can be born with atypical sex characteristics or ambiguous genitalia. So human biology isn’t as simple as the simple folk would like to believe and we currently only know a fraction of it
Trans people are people whose gender identity differs from the sex they were assigned at birth.

most women’s concerns are not actually about ordinary trans people living their lives, they’re about safety, privacy, and the possibility of predatory individuals abusing systems or spaces. Most trans people are not predators, just as most men are not predators. But women are still allowed to talk about safeguarding concerns and boundaries without being hateful.
The important thing is distinguishing between genuine transgender people and anyone behaving inappropriately, manipulatively, or dangerously. Those are separate issues!

Yes I would very much like an answer to the question 'what is a genuine trans person?'

You say:

Trans people are people whose gender identity differs from the sex they were assigned at birth.

So are 'genuine trans people' those who believe this very much?

How does their very strong held belief of something about themselves that objectively isn't change their sex?

(I refer back to my Abraham Lincoln example).

have a look on twitter or similar. Doesn’t take long to realise it’s a thing amongst the trans community to film themselves, Willy out, in female toilets. And that’s the tame ones.

I would expect the crime statistics would be the same as a woman as they are women.

As I have mentioned many times previously in this thread, that I do not agree with men masquerading as women and calling themselves trans. These men are extremely dangerous and damaging to the trans community, and this thread and particularly you, are prime examples of how confused your average Joe is, who has little understanding or experience in this area.

You seem incredibly angry and that’s justified if it is directed at the right people. However to direct it at everyone including the innocent, is extremely unfair. It’s like saying all men are rapists and hating all men on this basis.

Anyway, I won’t be responding to anymore messages on this thread. I’m saddened by mumsnet and will be taking a break. You can enjoy your echo chamber with your extreme views and hatred. Don’t let it eat you up now..

Gosh, I suggest you go and look up the crime statistics, rather than going with what you would expect and assuming that must be true.

Plenty of studies show that male transitioners retain normal male pattern offending rates.

Er, by using my eyes.

I can even (and I don't wish to brag here) even correctly identify the sex of a person over the phone using... my ears!

Oh here we go again with the 'cHecKiNG oUt GeNiTaLs'. FFS, this is past boring now. We all know a male from a female, funnily enough civilisation has flourished for millennia without needing to at first 'cHeCk GeNiTals'.

It's not about 'trans'. It's about males in female spaces. Rebadging males as 'trans' doesn't change that they are males.

It is quite clear that plastic either didn’t bother reading the thread, couldn’t be bothered reading the posts or has this magic way of judging who is really transgender or not, so will probably end up being finding some spurious and false premise to denounce the statistics.

Get away!!!

Maybe @DrAmanitaPhalloides and those without the ability to tell the sex of humans apart could use your services? I’m now wondering if those who cannot tell the sexes apart can tell if someone is human as opposed to all the other apes. Maybe they confuse Gibbons etc with Homo sapiens. Are you able to differentiate between Orang Utans and Homo sapiens Betty? Do all the people need to take all their clothes off (and apes shave all their fur/hair) for you to be able to make those distinctions?

You could strike it rich Betty. I never knew there were so many people who couldn’t tell which parent was their mammy and who was their daddy without the parents stripping off.

Edited

I know, I know.

I may write an instructional book about it, as some people do seem to be experiencing difficulties in this area. And this inexplicable gift of mine should be shared with the world!

Do you know, I can even differentiate between male and female by the creaks made when they walk down the stairs in my house?

And... This one is wild!...often just by their writing style on MN! 😳

Oh, but I'm just showing off now. ☺️

Scientifically, biological sex is not just XX = female and XY = male. There are natural variations in chromosomes, hormones, and sexual development,

Yes sex is not chromosomes or hormones. It is gametes: large immobile = female, small motile = male. This is true of reptiles in which sex is determined by temperature, it is true of plants, it is true in organisms that are sequentially hermaphroditic. Is is true whether development of sexual organs results in a daffodil or a rose or a strawberry.

STRAWBERRIES HAVE SEXUAL ORGANS??😮

Cue very very old strawberry joke:

Not quite.

While human biology is vastly varied, it is also remarkably stable. There are so many unique variations of human bodies, but they reliably fall into two sex categories.

That you keep invoking those people with Differences of Sex Development in your arguments that sex categorisation of humans is very complicated is getting offensive. People with differences of sex development can’t be reliably categorised as either male or female. Their bodies are not your tool to destabilise human sex categories.

At this point though, your appeal to the unknown is ridiculous. We know a lot already about human sex categories. I doubt that any future finding will discover another sex category of human, or will deviate from the current understanding that allows medical specialists to categorise sex categories.

That is you trying to make completely unknown future findings support your argument. That, to me, comes under a faith statement where you desperately want to believe something that doesn’t any strength of evidence outside that faith statement.

Surely using the disabled toilet when you aren’t disabled is far worse than a transwoman using the ladies.

Why? Both are cases of people using facilities not assigned for them. Why is one worse than the other?

MagpiePi · 08/05/2026 07:05

The question that is never answered of how you tell a ‘tru-trans’ from a man pretending to be a woman, always brings to my mind this Gary Larson cartoon.

Do you avoid the bathroom if there is a transwoman?

The argument that DSDs are evolution in action make me laugh.

It's not evolution, it's something going wrong on an individual's developmental pathway. Like my hip dysplasia.
