None of the recent versions have worked for me. Could have done with some more Orville.

Yeah. Picard was about as good as the later series have got

WearyAuldWumman · 05/05/2026 10:40

I liked some of Academy. I prefer Strange New Worlds, however.

I am not convinced that the visitor was young.

They said they had a child.

What seems to happen is that some people get just enough information to find something credible. Like the whole uterus transplant rabbit hole, or the its a vagina because someone can stick a penis into it.

Whoever they are, they are operating on sound bites being fed to them and a heap of other people and considering it is expert knowledge. Hence the demeaning and belittling that keeps coming such as 'how do you not know this' exclaimations.

Reader: we don't know 'this' because it was misinformation. We have already heard it, checked it and found it to be a falsity. Either completely false or a misrepresentation of the truth.

uterus transplant rabbit hole

That is one hell of a mental picture.

So many of them will smugly say 'educate yourself!' and come out with the ageist and sexist assumption that we didn't have any science education to speak of. They are, of course, very wrong there. It's obvious many posters here have really advanced understanding of biology and especially sex and genetics. My science education consists of O level Biology grade B from 1977 but I don't think any of the fundamentals of genetics and reproduction I was taught back then have changed, or it would have been headline news all over the world and led to a Nobel Prize.

As in so many other fields, you need a certain base level of knowledge to grasp how little you really know and understand and to appreciate how much the experts know. I remember that numpty Sarah Palin giving a speech about wasteful government funding where she expressed amazement that there was funding for research into fruitflies. Even I know that they are absolutely fundamental to research in lots of areas because their reproductive cycle is very short so you can see how something goes through many generations in a matter of weeks.

SirEctor · 05/05/2026 13:38

I once had to put medicine up there and it was to induce a medical abortion to treat a missed miscarriage. I had to do it by myself at home. It was a horribly female experience all round.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 05/05/2026 13:44

I'm so sorry. Flowers

I’m so sorry you had to go through that @SirEctor

FireHorse2026 · 05/05/2026 13:50

@Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g the smug "educate yourself" has done wonders for the GC cause. The more women educate themselves on this issue the more GC women there are lol.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 05/05/2026 13:52

💯

SirEctor · 05/05/2026 13:53

Thank you. Pales in comparison to the terrible things that many of the women here have gone through, but I just wanted to say it. Living with a female reproductive system is so much more than having a hole between our legs and it is really the most vile misogyny to reduce it to such.

TBH these days “educate yourself!” elicits the same reaction in me as “do your own research!” when spouted by anti-vaxxers - namely, buckle in to ride the torrent of shite that will inevitably pour forth.

I'm sorry you went through this. 💐

The only medication I've had that way was to try to prevent miscarriage following IVF, successful on one occasion not successful on others. As you say our female reproductive systems are so much more than a hole.

A neovagina has more in common with the hole my cat made in my arm yesterday than with my actual vagina. Both will close up eventually and are not meant to be there.

Also, AmpleScroller's obsession with sexual stimulation is ew.

Certainly the non-trans women who have a vaginoplasty procedure following cancer treatment appreciate your thoughts.

And those women have nothing to do with male people who have a cavity inserted in their groin that is never going to be a vagina.

It is an act of misogyny to force team those female cancer sufferers with male people who have that cavity inserted in their groin and call it any type of vagina.

Quite. Women who, having suffered from cancer, require or want reconstructive surgery to treat something that was already there, without the presence of which they would not have got that type of cancer, cannot be compared to men creating holes that go to nowhere, made out of their cock or colon.

The clue is in the RE. you cannot RE construct something that was never there.

Drawing that comparison is vile but then I should expect that from uber misogynist onepostwonder.

Where do you think trans healthcare procedures originate?

Do you also believe trans men receiving phalloplasty are force teamed with war injury survivors?

Absolutely that. Revolting comment.

All of this burble is to one purpose.

To try and convince women that there's no way to tell a man/some men aren't men/men are women/there can't be a single sex space/yada yada

This is to then force non consenting women to get their clothes off with those men in enclosed spaces.

Even if this wasn't a fantastically grotty and misogynist agenda, the law is clear. Women have rights. Needed badly to defend them against men who have zero care or respect for women, and are unable to process them saying the word 'no'.

This is certainly a belief within the larger sex essentialist value system.

OpheliaWitchoftheWoods · 05/05/2026 15:47

Oh talk in plain English for pete's sake.

Women have a legal right to single sex spaces where you are not. What are you hoping to achieve here?

Well, firstly it ceases to be a wound when the tissue heals. Sex realist ideas about vaginoplasty are wrong in so many ways. It serves no one to attempt to clarify reality, as they will continue to create their own stories.
