Views on this board being deliberately miscued

Everyone knows that the majority view here is due to concerns about the erasure of female single sex spaces and words, children being caught up in an ideology when they aren’t old enough to consent (possibly leading to harmful hormones and/or surgery), female sports and awards being infiltrated/given by/to men, trans widows having their lives turned upside down and not supported but expected to support the stunning and brave husband etc etc. However, arguing against these concerns is not a good look so it’s much easier to shout “hatred” and “transphobia”.
Its so fucking tedious.

One of the things I like about some of the "popular" goady threads is the number of posters who never (or rarely) post on here, who explain so powerfully why they reject men in women's changing rooms etc and challenge the persistent removal of women's rights.
So many women are finding their voices after the years of bullying and intimidation and it's great to see.

This thread is a powerful example of how everyone has been bullied into accepting the unacceptable and why so many are now challenging it all:

Given how almost every of those members here intentionally misgenders, refuses to accept pronouns and often even names, please press that doubt button for me on this post.

But of course this forum spent so much eating its own reassurances that harassment and transphobia is the "rational norm" and cannot be challenged under any circumstances, as that's just "ridiculous" and "against your truth".

Hilarious.

Everyone has the right to correctly sex someone and use the appropriate sex-relevant pronouns. As far as I know compelled speech is not yet a legal requirement.

SeptimusSheep · 08/04/2026 23:36

I assume AidaP is actually trying to stir up hatred against trans people by both being bloody annoying and making violent threats.

anyolddinosaur · 09/04/2026 09:15

If you find the threads annoying but feel you have to respond you can do say by saving I refer you to any of one the many other similar threads. Or any other thread you feel is useful - maybe one of the evidence or break it down for me threads. Or to examples of the many violent threats made by TRAs.

Lovelyview · 09/04/2026 09:16

I think new visitors to the board benefit from seeing a TRA taken down repeatedly. When I first joined I did - and also polished my skills in replying to their nonsense (at the time it was Dadjoke). It is tedious for long-standing members but it's a useful training ground for new recruits. Operation Let Them Speak is one of the most successful tactics we can deploy. Their smug chanting of slogans and brainless disregard for women as humans equal to men peaks more and more people every day. It's a public service.

Because reiterating my position is not only for the detractors, it’s for the lurkers too.

Agree. People lurk and don't post and new people join Mumsnet. In addition, the threads frequently pop up in trending, so attract readers who wouldn't routinely visit FWR.

pigeonist · 09/04/2026 10:10

This looks a lot like the frustration-aggression pattern at work. Certain individuals are upset about things they can't control, and their anger is being redirected here rather than the actual source of their frustration.

MarieDeGournay · 09/04/2026 10:34

I think this thread and the one titled 'FAQ' are along similar lines, I've just posted on the FAQ one that I too have noticed an increase in threads which are obviously set up to hammer home [Bash Back pun not intended, but I'll let it stand..] that WE ALL HATE TRANSPEOPLE, regardless of anything we say, what evidence we produce, how patiently we explain our real feelings...

Definitely a trend. Not sure how to handle it - let the grey rockers rock on, and
the keen-to-engage 'engage and good luck to them, they'll need it', perhaps?

Easytoconfuse · 09/04/2026 11:31

In the interests of derailing the derailers, can we compile a list of 'tell' phrases.

I'll kick off with
'hilarious' and 'if you knew more than basic biology.'

Does anyone else remember this https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-34897645 Maybe we could do the same?

Perhaps reminding posters and lurkers about raping women who say no with a splintery rolling pin might help. No getting away from THAT side of history viewpoint. T’internet doesn’t forget.

So offensive

This is a frequent flyer on these boards. His many contributions have a particularly smug and condescending tone, rather at odds with his wish to inflict horrible sexual violence on women who don’t play along with his delusions.

It doesn't matter what these men do to their bodies or what they choose to wear, they remain unmistakeably and unchangeably male, with the male propensity to violence and an only too common male arrogance and sense of entitlement.

I was radicalised by Mumsnet many years ago. I got bored during the terrible years when almost every post was reported by the menz with wimmin feelz, and threads were full of deletions. Then we were relegated to the outer limits of forum land, split from the Feminism board, because obviously we are not Feminists, just hateful bigots. And I stopped coming here, there was no point.

I have never been a prolific poster, but I loved reading, learning, the humour.
Then something started to change, Forstater, first, then Allison Bailey. So I came back to read. And it was lovely again. But just like in real life, leaving an abuser is the worst time. And after FWS the TRAs have come back with a vengeance. they spoil threads, they are like spoiled children, never told no. They call us Nazis but I have never known a group as determined to make everyone think the way they do. To make societal changes, to change the law. To break the law and walk away.

I dont come here as often, and that is a shame, because I know all the things I want to know about will be here. I want to know how the Employment Tribunals are going, the many wins we are having, seeing common sense finally prevail. Then I log in and look at the front page, and it is full of 'why do you hate us'. My answer is this ' because of this you morons'. Because you brook no debate, no difference of opinion. And it is not hate, it is someone absolutely fed up of toddler tantrums. You lost, suck it up. People are actually fed up of your antics. People who a few years ago were live and let live. You did it. You spoiled it for yourselves right from the start. You tried it by stealth, and now you scream like little babies 'wah why does no one like me, why can't I have all the sweets'. You are the architects of your own demise.

anyolddinosaur · 09/04/2026 17:27

Whenever we get the "nobody likes me, everybody hates me" I get an earworm. So perhaps I should post on each of those threads this link

What is 'miscued' intended to mean here? Googling tells me it's a billiards term, which leaves me none the wiser.

I assumed that autocorrect had got at the word misconstrued.

DeanElderberry · 09/04/2026 18:46

Yes, that makes sense. Doesn't just go for this board though, the widespread apparent inability to read fairly straightforward posts is a constant surprise.

Yes that’s exactly what happened! I always use my phone and this happens to me a lot!
Although it looks like it can also mean mistake.

I assumed "misused".

DialSquare · 09/04/2026 20:50

Definitely a fat fingered typo and by the time I realised, it was too late to do anything so I just left it as it is.
But just looking at the definition of “miscued”, I’ll go with the second one on this screen shot!

The lore you lot keep creating for me is a ridiculously amusing game of telephone to watch, please do keep going.

The woman, the legend.

The man who makes violent threats.
