Welcome to the Bluestocking women's pub. Men are directed to the Staunch Ally just down the road. Otherwise all are welcome. Pull up a chair, give your order to the Wait Gerbil or the Gerbil behind the bar.

Don't forget to name change if you wish to.

Feasible? Feasible? FEASIBLE??
Are you applying common sense and logic to something in the Bluestocking??
Wash your mouth out!
Or in your case, ErrolTheDragon, I suppose that would be 'steam clean your mouth out'🔥Grin

Well, in the BS they could get the sleep gerbils to fly up and hammer in some spikes or suchlike. Unfortunately Hedgy has a stairwell outwith our blessed domain to tackle.Grin

Boiledbeetle · 26/03/2026 07:47

I had a milkman a long time ago. <sighs at happy memories of young love>

Anyway, moving on...

Who signed me up to Gillian's early morning fitness class?

Edited

We need a squadron of sleep gerbils to bag Gillian and teach her some manners.

Also to remind her that some people can be very cranky first thing in the morning, and that a very quiet service delivering their early- (or mid- or late- ) morning beverage of choice would win more goodwill in the long term..

I'm sorry to hear that WAW, it sounds like you got quite a fright, hope the wobblyness has settled down after a cuppa or three Flowers
I'm sure you didn't really make a tit of yourself, but if you did, I hope it was a great tit😄

Well, I'm one of the biggest in my area...

WearyAuldWumman · 26/03/2026 10:07

Heading off to exercise class shortly...

Gillian's?
And if not, I'm sure she'll be there with you in spirit.
She has a lot of spirit. Not the drinkable kind.

BeSpoonyTurtle · 26/03/2026 06:36

Wobbly legs aside, I'm impressed that you still have a milkman!

Hello Turtle!

Are you new here? Very welcome in any case.

The gerbils have researched milkmen as a concept and want to join in.

I'm glad Gillian has found her place. It is a pity that it also contained a drum set. I'm hoping when the weather improves she can do some classes outside. Only partly because a bunch of gerbils, Balrog and miscellaneous other creatures doing Tai Chi will be such a sight.

'Outwith our blessed domain' - very elegantly put, ErrolSmile.

MarieDeGournay · 26/03/2026 11:04

I missed BeSpoonyTurtle's first appearance, thanks for noticing her, Myrtle.
Assuming you're not a regular with a name-change -
welcome to the Bluestocking.
There's a huge range - probably infinite, but we don't want to fall foul of the Trade Descriptions Act by making that claim - of goodies available, all delicious, and all magically devoid of any tricky stuff like calories, gluten, or the kind of alcohol that gets you in trouble with the cops when driving.

So hail a passing friendly, efficient, professional bar-gerbil and order anything you fancy, in any quantity you want - swimming pool size servings of G&T are not unheard of here, for instanceSmile

She did try to run one on Tuesday morning.

Thankfully it rained after 5 minutes.

You're not compelled to join in, Boily.

If you can't avoid Gillian completely, maybe you could say you're busy totting up the number of workouts she has done.

If we fancy another cute mammal in our pub there is an adorable baby beaver here: https://x.com/itsme_urstruly/status/2036895520120332308?s=46

I love this, both the baby beaver and the wonderful woman caring for it. I tracked it down to a wildlife rescue and rehabilitation centre in Oklahoma and found their FB page. They are the Wild Heart Ranch.

I agree, te have to have baby beavers in the Bluey - baby beavers plural, because there's no way we could take turns to do the feeding, so it'll be one each for everybody who wants to cuddle oneSmile
And yes I know that's not feasible, Errol, but in the Bluey there are always cute little baby beavers who magically disappear into happy lives in the wild when they cease to be at the cute stage. And even magically disappear when not being cuddled.

That's the way it is within our blessed domain, somehow😄

I suppose the beavers will be given names starting with B, but I think one of them has to be called Simone the Beaver😁

Thank you for the link to the rescue centre, NotAt, it's wonderful that there are people so committed to caring for animals in need💓

Just one problem. Apparently it's really hard to sex a beaver, you need to do an x-ray according to the clip. Soooo we could get four baby beavers and if they don't disappear into the wild quick enough we could end up with 200 baby beavers to feed at some point in the near future!

😂😂Sadly Mumsnet's emojis don't run to a beaver, baby or adult.

But the boy beavers will be automatically repelled by the sex-detector forcefield that stops any male creatures getting in. Colin has a chip in his collar of course, allowing him through.

So the only baby beavers will be girls. And Simone the beaver (proper name Beaver Simone) is their mum.

I like the way Boily is dodging out of side-step slams but doing her line across her tally before she has enough lines up and down, like a cunning Y4 who will claim that 'Sorry, Miss, I made a mistake!' when pulled up on it later.

EdithStourton · 26/03/2026 13:45

PS I have no idea what a side-step slam is, or even if such a thing actually exists. I've been step aerobics about 6 times (30 years ago), Pilates ditto (15 years ago) and the gym exactly once (about 3 years ago).

I didn't really enjoy any of it.

<runs away from Gillian, approaching with her clipboard>

Have just made a tit of myself.

Thought I had an intruder. It was the milkman. He usually doesn't come this early.

I apologised to him, but I've got wobbly legs.

What did you do to him? Or do you just have a very impressive scream?

They're much cuter than the chap who was at my door during the night, but less startled looking.

Ooooh! I've been dying to try Tai Chi.

ifIwerenotanandroid · 26/03/2026 16:00

I threw open the door. Open observing an strange young man attired in a high viz vest and heading for my gate, I intoned [in my best retired schoolteacher voice]: "So what's going on?"

He said something that I couldn't quite hear and pointed at the porch. Then I realised that he'd said "Milk."

I’ve just got home from day out and catching up with a brew and R4 in the background. Just as I got to this post, someone introducing Inside Science said “…and I’ve got beavers”.
They’re doing space science at the moment.

lcakethereforeIam · 26/03/2026 17:03

If we're going to have beavers 🦫 we have to name one Justine.
