I think this is BS too and eventually we'll find out he's just a bloke.

fashionqueen0123 · 05/02/2026 23:05

Women don’t take meds to lower testosterone

And those who do (say as treatment for hormone receptive cancer) don't suddenly stop being men!

What weight class does he fight? Maybe he can identify into a lower male class so he can pummel people unlawfully there instead? Or maybe a youth class? The sky’s the limit for his imagination really?

I'm not defending him but all this must have given him some severe mental health issues.

He knows he's a man but has to do all the mental gymnastics to persuade everyone, including himself, he's a woman.

I'm on record as having a small amount of something - not exactly sympathy - but I believe he was mis-identified as female at birth, he was brought up as a girl, he never developed normal male genitalia, Algeria is not as conservative about women's dress and behaviour etc as some people seem to think, he was swept up in a machine comprising national political as well as sporting powers with huge vested interests in keeping him 'female', and made into a sporting icon for Arab women and a symbol of Algerian patriotic pride and glory.

He should of course have done the decent thing when he found out that he had a DSD. He should have declined all the support and adulation, bravely walked away from the sport, and returned to his poor family in disgrace.

He didn't.

Now he is so caught up in the machine that he possibly doesn't even realise that he has admitted what we've been saying all along: you're a man with a male DSD, and proper testing will reveal that 100%.

AgnesX · 06/02/2026 10:23

My cognitive function isn't all that it could be around this subject. I'm confused 🤔

So, this person has the gene that indicates masculinity and is having injections to reduce their testosterone (male hormone) so they can compete as a female in the next Olympics

And they're convinced they're not transgender?

MarieDeGournay · 06/02/2026 10:38

'Transgender' is a chosen identity, and a recent one.

This is one case where 'sex ascribed at birth' has some validity, as IK was mis-identified as female at birth because of the absence of male genitalia due to a DSD.
He is now spectacularly failing to deal with the reality that he has a DSD that only affects males. He is undoubtedly being encouraged in this by the national sporting powers in Algeria, he even mentions how important it is for Algeria to get to the LA Olympics. They have a huge vested interest in continuing to claim he is female, and any criticism of IK is a criticism of the Algerian nation.

During the Paris Olympics, Algeria blamed the whole gender row around IK not on nasty terfs like us and JKR, but on Morocco with whom Algeria have an un-neighbourly relationship.

Brefugee · 06/02/2026 10:43

sports authorities need to be very much more aware that unscrupulous sports agents are on the look out for children with particular DSDs so they can exploit that in the sporting world.

This is not new, it is not unkown and it needs to be much much more regilated. It is naturally awful for anyone who is genuinely brought up thinking they are one sex, but then find out in their teenage years (when everything is so awful in so many respects already) that they are the other. Added into that you have the exploitation by sports agents, and it is just awful.

My sympathies in the most publicised cases is severely limited.

And yet...

"I haven't done anything to change the way nature made me"

He's had all the proper testing. At least 3 times now. Right down to it even pinpointing what specific DSD he has! It's all online. And has been for over a year. No more testing is needed, as these results are not ever going to change.

Yes, I don't think they should be allowed to compete as a woman, but I do have some sympathy. It would be incredibly difficult to be raised as a girl/woman from birth and then have that turn out to not be true.

I agree. I think it is perfectly rational to both believe that he can’t compete as a woman, and upset for the female boxers he competed against, while still having real sympathy for someone who was raised as a girl from childhood, and probably spent many years feeling confused that they are not like other girls while those around them told and raised them as a girl, including coaches who may have known or at least guessed but were fixated on winning over and above caring about the impact this would have on his mental health and life.

Chersfrozenface · 06/02/2026 11:20

Khelif did not take up boxing until after puberty at 17.

By then he and all the coaches around him knew full well he wasn't female.

They took advantage of the F on his government ID document/s to cheat at the sport.

here is the thread with more background

https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/womens_rights/5403618-imane-khelif-appeals-sex-testing-requirements?page=1

Yesterday I linked up the articles coming from his French interview.

I believe that this is a strategic move because he is about to be given professional status in France and because he can say with confidence now that he will do a test under the IOC... now. However, if what we expect /hope Kirsty Coventry will soon announce, he would not be able to confidently say this.

So, he is getting it out there now in a move of bravado. If Coventry changes the IOC regulations, I am almost certain he will not continue saying that he will do any sex testing.

If he says this all in public now, and his professional status is approved, then he doesn't have to deal with it. I think I read currently the French professional boxing panel don't require sex testing. If he puts it all out there in public now, he probably feels he doesn't have to mention it again.

However, it is interesting that I also think that he is doing this to dispel some of the public discussion that he is 'trans'. Whereas, most people who were discussing this knew he was not trans at all. But this is what he is focused on because people probably understand gender identity more than DSDs, so if he leaves it as ambiguous about having a male only DSD and continues with the naturally high testosterone that Semenya also used, he thinks he will deflect criticism.

Very interesting @Helleofabore

Myalternate · 06/02/2026 11:59

They gave him a GOLD MEDAL in front of millions of people around the world watching a man punching a woman.

Brefugee · 06/02/2026 13:02

Nobody in here was conflating him with trans tho?
Only bad-actors outside FWR were conflating, as usual, DSD and transness, and against what so many people with DSD have said.

Idontspeakgermansorry · 06/02/2026 10:07

He was a kid going through puberty. They're generally not known for their rationality and deep thinking. I can understand why he would try and double down in his identity as a woman.

He should have stopped a long time ago and his actions later with Angela Carini are certainly not excusable, but I can still see the nuance. This wasn't just a failure by khelif, but the whole organisation. I have much more sympathy for Angela Carini too.

His condition is know in his country as penis at 12.
His voice broke and he started to get facial hair etc.
He knew he was male, he failed 2 sex tests and had an independent team of specialist Dr's who will have explained exactly what his DSD was and what it ment including that hes a man all before the Paris Olympics yet he still chose to get into the ring with women and lied repeatedly about his sex even going as far as threatening to sue women for pointing out the truth that hes a man.
That man deserves absolutely zero sympathy from anyone hes a violent man who enjoys cheating and beating up women, he should be jailed for fraud and assault and everyone who helped him should be jailed for conspiracy to commit fraud and assault

Cry me a fucking river.

He wasn't a kid going through puberty at the 24 Olympics. He's 26 now so was 24/25.

It’s probably a pill. Usually used as a regular endocrine therapy for cancer. Really nasty drugs so personally I’d be dodging them unless needed for life saving treatment

ThisHappyHiker · 06/02/2026 13:47

As I said I'm not defending him, I was just making a statement that mentally he must be a mess. I actually think he's a cheating scumbag and the people who enabled this situation are utterly evil.

He doesn't even pass as a woman so it was gaslighting on an industrial level. A BBC commentator said his female opponent wasn't trying hard enough in one of the bouts. I don't know how he could have let those words come out of his mouth.

And a sure sign that Oliver Brown is coerced by his employer to use demanded pronouns.

CautiousLurker2 · 06/02/2026 14:28

So, at this stage, given he knows he is male and admitted as much, he IS actually transgender if he is choosing to live and identify as a woman?

CautiousLurker2 · 06/02/2026 14:45

Thinking on… if Khelif got into the ring KNOWING he was male because of prior tests and subsequent hormone treatment to mitigate that diagnosis… then he is surely guilty of both fraud and criminal assault as the female competitors that fought with him did not consent to be in the ring with a biological male? Surely they could insist that criminal proceedings are brought against him? And against the IOC for facilitating it happening?

puffyisgood · 06/02/2026 14:56

"My difference is natural."

IK is telling the truth here. Those male T levels aren't the result of synthetic compounds injected via a needle. They're the perfectly normal product of a healthily functioning pair of (presumably undescended) testes.

InterestQ · 06/02/2026 15:21

I think he can safely be described as one of the few people who can say with perfect truth they felt they’ve been born in the wrong body.

the truth is it’s the wrong upbringing but he (and I assume his family) would be a lot poorer if anyone had done right by him when he sprouted facial hair and everyone realised they’d fucked up.

He should bow out of thumping women gracefully now. Accept his body for the male body it is and find a way to live comfortably how he wants. Not double down and keep punching women.
