Welcome to The Bluestocking, the welcome is warm, the conversation is wide-ranging, the food and drink are delicious but magically free from anything they need to be free from, and the bar staff are highly-trained, professional, efficient and very friendly gerbils.

Assuming the results are good I will be discharged from infectious diseases this week. Then I just have orthopaedics, lymphoedema, gynaecology (for the menopause), ENT, renal (for my missing kidney and regular checks) and autism/ADHD.

I can understand how you had enough going on without adding yet another, @MyrtleLion , but if you are diagnosed with autism/ADHD then it will be in your notes whenever you see a medical someone new, and they can bear that in mind when they talk to you. They might be a bit clearer, or more understanding, or tailor their advice differently.

If you bought your house only 25 years ago, Boily, I think it must be registered land. You can get a scanned copy of the title deeds for not too much.

I appreciate it’s not the same as the original but better than nothing?

This is quite interesting, too.

Both links are to sites ending with .gov.uk so should be safe far as I know.

Thank you.

I'm hoping I haven't been daft enough to throw them out. I suspect they are in the vicinity of where they are supposed to be, just in a different set of drawers/box.

I'm having to stop myself from starting to search for them otherwise by the morning it will look like the police have done search!

Your housedeeds= your Damson's Hairbrush, Boily😄

Grrrrrrr

AsWithGlad · 19/01/2026 22:19

I looked at the sky from the garden at the back of the house just now rather than the front (we live in a terrace which runs N-S) and still nothing. I do think it’s amazing how I can point my phone at a cloudy sky, it asks me to keep still for a few seconds and then produces an amazingly detailed picture of clouds in what seems to me to be just a dark sky.

Swashbuckled · 19/01/2026 22:11

So, what should be behind the panelling if it’s the same as the other houses (I’m invested; I’ve always wanted to discover a secret room in my house).

And thanks; you’ve reminded me to go for a shower! 🙂

It's not a room, more a totally pointless fairly unusable space that the thinking of someone in the past seems to have been if I board that up it will mean less decorating.

You seem to have been very methodical in the way you de-cluttered, so I doubt you've thrown them out. More likely is that you've moved them, so that you could reorganise something else.

And I did find my hairbrush, eventually😊

RandomHypatia · 19/01/2026 22:24

Some mist and cloud mean no northern lights to see in this bit of Scotland.

When's the Bluey choir rehearsing again? I rarely get to hear live music these days (with the exception of my youngling who doesn't appear to have any musical talent).

This is true. I'm fairly sure I'll find them.

I'm currently praying to the hairbrush goddess to give me a hand!

So, I have a false ceiling in part of my house. I've just had reason to have to access it.

The wallpaper behind it is lush! I find it interesting that at some point they started to strip it and then seem to have thought ""fuck that. We'll just shove a false ceiling up instead!"

One day I'll access the part of the house that's completely sealed off. Not going to lie I do have a fear of what I may find behind the panelled off wall, but that's probably from watching to many horror films!

This is what's on the other side....😁

There I was, teeth brushed, in pyjamas, nearly in bed, and I remembered I hadn't put the bin out. So pulled on PJs, put on a coat and gardening clogs, stomped out crossly.

And saw the MOST magnificent Aurora borealis, reds and greens, get out there and look north and up.

Caught hints of it here in Mid-Wales, but not very clear because of too much light interference. A friend who lives well outside the village just put a gorgeous photo on FB taken from her house.

Boiledbeetle · 19/01/2026 23:02

So after praying to the hairbrush goddess I have found my infants school tie from the 1970s, my mums uni biology notes from the 1980s, my UCAS application from the 1990s and my house deeds from 1872.

ETA Oh and I found my smallpox vaccination record as well!

And aside from the house deeds, are those things useful or ornamental?

If not, could they be added to your version of the Kitten Cloud?

Is it you who flushes my loo whilst whistling in the middle of the night? It would explain a lot.

ifIwerenotanandroid · 19/01/2026 23:11

@Swashbuckled Did you finish Patience? I watched them the other way round, & found Astrid touching & enlightening, & Patience... not, so I gave up on it in case it spoilt my memories of Astrid. Did it get any better?

No, androids don't need to use a loo. It must be someone else MWAHAHAHA!

I'm not there yet.

I'm too busy reading my school reports from infants through to end of High school!

I will at some point have to start getting ruthless. Thankfully that won't be until about 2029 at this rate!

ErrolTheDragon · 19/01/2026 23:51

I’m in London so no northern lights here, just city lights. But they’re quite a sight for us provincials - the Tower area tonight as we’ve been to the Bridge theatre to see Into The Woods - very well done and good fun.

DrAuroraSoupDragonsFriend · 19/01/2026 23:54

I'm feeling so fed up right now about this barmy world people are hell-bent on destroying that I wondered if I could come back here and visit you for some sanity and happiness.

It's been ages since I posted and I can't remember what name(s) I last used so I've sort of resurrected DrSoupDragonsFriend but with a nod to the Aurora Borealis which I tried to find tonight but no luck.

I need cake and miracles and someone to give me a flipping great hug, Happy to reciprocate!

Monsters Inc Hug GIF

Emergency hug.

And would you settle for insanity, happiness and gerbils?

DrAuroraSoupDragonsFriend · 20/01/2026 00:00

Aaaw thank you! That was perfect. 😁I'll settle for anything if it comes with hugs like that.
