Sandie Peggie, a nurse at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy (VH), brought claims in the employment tribunal against her employer; Fife Health Board (the Board) and another employee, Dr B Upton. Ms Peggie’s claims are of sexual harassment, harassment related to a protected belief, indirect discrimination and victimisation. Dr Upton claims to be a transwoman, that is observed as male at birth but asserting a female gender identity.

The Employment Tribunal hearing started on Monday 3 February 2025 and was expected to last 2 weeks. However, after 2 weeks it was not complete and it adjourned part-heard. It resumed on 16 July and the last day of evidence was 29 July 2025. It resumed again over 1 to 2 September for closing submissions.

Following handing down of the judgment on 8 December 2025, on 11 December 2025, it was announced by Sandie Peggie and her legal team that they would be pursuing an appeal.

While we are waiting to hear more about the appeal, this is interesting:

His comment - Well, we gave it a go.
It seems that it’s fine to farm important judgments out to mysterious shadowy figures who just make important chunks of them up out of thin air, and then issue them in your own name. Back in your boxes, plebs.

The front of these people, who think they can just ignore reasonable comment. Can she be hauled up in front of HoC committee oe something?

These people have Righteous Souls in place of integrity and a sense of shame.

That is pretty appalling. Might a sensible, right minded MP be prepared to write and ask for a better answer and or raise it questions to the Justice Secretary in the Commons? Alternatively a member of the Lords could ask the Lord Chancellor. Does anyone know anyone suitable?

Does that mean that NHS Fife is out of time to make a counter appeal?

I think they've chosen to accept the ruling but will argue against Sandie at her appeal.

They're sensible enough to accept it, I think. The findings against them were bang to rights.

The chilling bit of the argument is that the Scottish Government "have claimed that trans inmates could kill themselves if forced to serve sentences in jails for people of their biological sex."

Whereas presumably it doesn't matter that a violent TIM in the female estate could kill one of the women prisoners or maybe even a female prison guard......

There's another thread just now about a teenage girl being emotionally abused by her ex who threatens suicide to manipulate her. Classic abusive tactic.

They can place these men in a single wing of a prison to protect them from other men. They do not need to put them in a women's prison for any reason.

If the men are threatening to kill themselves then they need to be placed in a secure psychiatric ward (for males) and medicated for their own safety.

Any woman who has been forced to share a prison cell with a biological male should sue the government. This violates a woman's basic human right to safety.

There is already a wing in Edinburgh for trans prisoners.
