Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

Sexism/other issues in the Green party England & Wales - Discussion Thread 2

Zack Polanski is making things bigger again.

We need a new thread to discuss all his antics and the ongoing situation in the Green party which is getting more ever more bizarre. While it is getting ever strident in denying biology it also has Mothin Ali as deputy Leader who clearly doesn't believe in trans thinking, but cleverly sidesteps round talking about it.

The fight back from Green Women's Declaration,(https://www.greenwomensdeclaration.uk/ ) continues and the court cases against GPEW from Emma Bateman and Shahrar Ali are developing.

In Bristol the Women of Wessex are causing panic amongst the ruling Green council just by turning up and asking questions. This may result in another court case.
https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/womens_rights/5455053-bristol-council-is-about-to-be-sued

With local elections in May and elections in Wales incoming lots more to discuss and call out.

First thread - where you can follow the rise of Hypno Boobs:
https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/womens_rights/5328986-greens-internal-drama-warms-up

Note the Scottish Greens which are a separate party to the Green Party England/Wales have their own thread for all their drama. They split off because GPEW didn't hate biology enough at the time.

Also, I suspect a lot of Zack enjoyers are people who would like to bring back 2018 vintage cancel culture, where they can whip up a mob and get a journo sacked because she wasn't sufficiently respectful to Dear Leader.

He hasn't really foregrounded the Peak Woke stuff, but his idea of leadership means he'll follow wherever his stupidest supporters are going.

Yeah, he does appear to have confused leadership with followship. This will cause problems in the not too distant future when he ends up following so many disparate principles that his populism becomes invisible.

ETA The art of populist leadership is to espouse a small number of policies that all your supporters will buy into and appear at least superficially reasonable to your target supporters.

He's also throwing a lot of policy directions out there.
Scrap the OBR.
Roll over OFSTED.
Make belief in the Jewish state a racist offence...oh, that one didn't make it thru Spring conference, I guess there's always the Autumn one to get it done.
Zack should keep talking, keep proposing policy, but most of all, keep dancing.

SionnachRuadh · 31/03/2026 21:29

If he's looking for an unexpected direction... I'm just waiting to see if Hannah Spencer forms a left-right alliance with Rupert Lowe, who has business interests in heat pumps.

Polanski is very thin skinned. You could see how angry he got when women were disobedient in party meetings.

He spent the weekend rage tweeting a female journalist because she dared.criticise him (32 tweets in 48 hours). Also lead his speech onstage with a veiled reference to her, it seems.

That Nicole Lampert article echoes the way Polanski lashed out at Danny Finkelstein over some generally mild comments about ZPs espousal of how to grow (or not) the economy

https://nitter.net/TimesRadio/status/1986456172623196621#m

The comments already by last November were "keep going Zack. THE ESTABLISHMENT R TEr1FieD"

SionnachRuadh · 31/03/2026 21:53

I think Polanski's idea of journalism is this weird arrangement where Bastani follows him around recording his pearls of wisdom, and he gets very annoyed when any journo (especially a woman) challenges him. There was that very weird interlude in the by-election where Tim Stanley, who's a terribly mild-mannered chap, was trying to locate Zack to get a soundbite out of him, but it turned out the Greens had decided not to speak to the Telegraph.

If he wants an example of how an upstart politician should do it, I suggest he watches the Camilla Tominey show on GB News, because every time Richard Tice appears she does not let him get away unscathed, but Tice takes everything she throws at him very cheerfully and keeps coming back. And he's much better at interviews than he used to be.

Zack seems to react badly to anything that's not a standing ovation.

Lalgarh · 01/04/2026 09:59

I had a look last night and ZP is now grumbling about Andrew Neil after he dared suggest he was dancing like a numpty.

He even retweeted Ben Jamal who runs Palestine Solidarity committee showing support.

https://nitter.net/BenJamalpsc/status/2038912991962304722#m

As an aside, I've seen some activists (ones who see themselves as authentic about Palestine, ie not European, but Muslim) declare that PSC is a front for mossad. Not sure how this relates to the lot who seem to be crowding into the online conferences

Unrelated or not really (this be about green stuff) I read this morning that moves by China to reduce air pollution is having knock on effects of reducing the erosion of arctic sea ice (good) but also removing the fog of aerosol particles that helped deflect the suns heat that's leading to increased global heating (very bad). No good deed goes unpunished!

https://www.livescience.com/planet-earth/climate-change/chinas-huge-push-to-reduce-air-pollution-had-an-unexpected-consequence-in-the-arctic

I'd like the greens to at least have a think about nuanced stuff like this, but I think they'll just say "make hope normal again" and dad dance

A smog-filled cityscape on the edge of a body of water is seen under a clouded over sun

China's huge push to reduce air pollution had an unexpected consequence in the Arctic

China's cuts to aerosol emissions reduced sea ice loss, but it may have revealed a bigger story about climate change.

ZP has said he was against the motion. Going to cause a lot of new drama.

Zack Polanski got interrogated about whether he supported the ‘Zionism is Racism’ motion and apparently he doesn’t in its current form. Not sure what version would be acceptable but I doubt the antisemites will be happy with him even for this.

Time to see if Polanski is a "player".
Where he spouts platitudes out of one half of his mouth, then gets real politik results with internal measures.
Labour did it all the time, talking up their aversion to nuclear weapons, but always sidestepping any binding policies at conference to leave NATO, cancel Trident etc.
Let's see if Polanski can put up with the hate coming his way if he quashes this Zionism Is Racism declaration, or at least waters it down so much it's pointless.
Or is he too busy looking in the mirror everyday, loving what he sees staring back at him, and loving being loved to the extent he applies no discipline.
He should ask Nigel Farage how he maintains iron discipline and total messaging focus.

ZP is very ambitious. I agree it is the usual facade going on.

I mean he joined the Lib Dems during the coalition years.

He was active in aiming to crush Corbyn's Labour then endorses politics he was against later.

His ruthless attitude towards women who dissent is another example.

I think the whole blocking measures at conference if not planned by ZP were organised by senior Greens with his support as we have heard.

I think this will continue though he will aim to look like his hands are clean.

The best thing that could have ever happened was Hannah winning in G&D. Because the focus really needs to be on Polanski. Sunlight will hopefully be disinfectant.

YouGov have looked at 'How is the Green party's appeal changing?' It's not clear from the sloppy write-up whether they've used data from a GB sample or split off the E&W data (which would make more sense).

Possibly my last post on this thread. There are plenty of other places I can discuss politics with men.

Don't back out, I will. This is the third time my presence on MN has been objected to because I'm who I am. You stay, I'll go. Tbh, there's no point me being on here if you and others are truly unhappy with me being here.

GinaWhoLikesADrink · 03/04/2026 09:41

I have no objection to men commenting here (except TRAs). I think it's important to have a range of opinions and viewpoints... supporting Free Speech and all that.

I was gently shepherded away a little while back, and have snuck back on. It looks like this is a real issue, and so I'm going to avoid another bite of the cherry. So, it's all a lot easier if I identify out of being a MN contributor.

Don't leave. This board benefits from a diverse range of opinions, otherwise it is in danger of becoming that dreaded echo chamber. We don't have to agree and I personally think it is healthy to sometimes disagree as long as posters are respectful.

The issue it seems is not my views, but who I inherently am. They could agree 200% with my posts here, but who I am makes my presence on the forum uncomfortable for them and thus unacceptable for me to post. I get it.
I wonder if white women on here would refrain from posting on a predominantly PoC oriented forum, especially if PoC members said they felt uncomfortable with their contributions and thus presence?

I don't think that matters @1984Now . We need men to be part of the debate. I am not a mother but I don't think that precludes me from being a member of 'Mums' net.

Back looking at the Greens there is an expose of another issue inside the party. Though weirdly this guy doesn't seem to be worried about the massive sexism in the party and the fact minority women and men were targeted as well for talking about biology.

spring conference 2026: the identinarian’s game is over and polanski knows it
Posted on April 2, 2026 by The Green Light
The blame game as to who was responsible for what went so disastrously wrong at the Spring 2026 Green Party on-line Conference has not been long in waiting. A petition with a letter addressed to the Green Party Leadership is already in circulation. The letter calls for an “independent investigation into the Conduct of Spring Conference and recommendations to protect our member-led democracy”.

The Green Light can confirm that 0.4% of the membership took part in this on-line Spring Conference. Participants are self-appointed with no mandate and no accountability to anyone. The vote count for the Standing Committee A1 report as amended

These people are obsessed with identities. Bonkers. I think they need to create a hierarchy of intersectionality, so they can finally work out who is the most oppressed, and let them take the lead. AFAIK, ZP is only gay and Jewish, and being white must get him some negative points, so he's not nearly marginalised enough to represent a party of extremely fragile egos.
