Appears to be an attempt to address issues of concern to UK women today.

'Nadia Whittome, who has just joined Westminster’s Women and Equalities Committee, called for the Government fight back against toxic narratives and show solidarity with the trans community'

'...what we’re up against is a machine funded by billionaires in this country and the US, with political support from countries like Russia as well.'
...
“You just need to follow where the transphobia is coming from, it’s not coming from working class people, it’s trickling down from the top.
“These concerns are not being raised by a cleaner on the minimum wage, somebody stuck in an abusive relationship. Trans people aren’t a threat to them, the threat to them comes from violent men and the structures that keep them trapped, whether that’s low pay, low benefits, not having access to the public services they need.
“I don’t think that’s because a Labour government is the main driving force, I think the main driving force pushing it backwards, there are external forces funded by big money from Elon Musk to JK Rowling, but the Government isn’t standing up against that with a compassionate alternative, and it’s allowing itself to be pushed in that direction.

“I think it’s very sad, I feel very sorry for her, for someone who was once a treasured children's author.”
Earlier this year the Harry Potter author launched a fund for "women's sex-based rights", which "offers legal funding support to individuals and organizations fighting to retain women’s sex-based rights in the workplace, in public life and in protected female spaces".

Ms Whittome ruled out the idea social media regulation was a “silver bullet”, and that the only way to fight bigotry was “not to give an inch”.
She said: “We see negative headlines about trans people in the media every day, the Tories and Reform continue to use them as a political football, often most damagingly in reference to protecting women from women who aren’t trans, which misdiagnoses the problem of male violence, which is something…done to women both trans and not trans by violent and abusive men.'

Nadia, wait til you hear what they're doing with violent and abusive men who say they're women! They're in women's prisons, Nad!

She's got this the wrong way round:

“You just need to follow where the transphobia is coming from, it’s not coming from working class people, it’s trickling down from the top.
“These concerns are not being raised by a cleaner on the minimum wage, somebody stuck in an abusive relationship. Trans people aren’t a threat to them, the threat to them comes from violent men and the structures that keep them trapped, whether that’s low pay, low benefits, not having access to the public services they need.

I'm sorry but she's brainwashed with a side of stupid.

Theeyeballsinthesky · 09/11/2025 16:48

She's so dense light bends round her 🤪

Woefully uninformed disgusting traitor to her own sex.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 09/11/2025 16:51

She's so embarrassing.
No comment on the nurses being compelled to strip in front of men in NHS workplace changing rooms I notice.

SionnachRuadh · 09/11/2025 17:03

I used to have a cat who was fascinated by snooker on the TV, and used to try to catch the balls on the screen before they fell into the pocket.

That cat would be a more convincing MP than Nadia Whittome.

FragilityOfCups · 09/11/2025 17:09

Is she deliberately lying or not very bright? I can't tell why she's saying stuff that is incorrect when there are lots of true things she could say?

FranticFrankie · 09/11/2025 17:10

Aww old Nadia eh? What a laugh
Cept it's not funny

FragilityOfCups · 09/11/2025 17:11

"Trans people aren’t a threat to them, the threat to them comes from violent men"

Yet when we raise concerns about violent men, what is the response?

FFS.

Mangling language deliberately so that we can't talk about male violence because it doesn't count as male violence if there are special feelings involved.

CatHairEveryWhereNow · 09/11/2025 17:12

You just need to follow where the transphobia is coming from, it’s not coming from working class people, it’s trickling down from the top.

It's the other way round - mostly american money I think and trans has been top down.

I think more people of all classes are aware and fed up with it all.

It's hard to belive she so uniformed - I have working class 70 + old male relatives who are more clued up than this - because it affected directly them or people they know - mostly though services and language changes and obvious safe guarding implications not actaully having any issue with trans people.

nicepotoftea · 09/11/2025 17:17

“You just need to follow where the transphobia is coming from, it’s not coming from working class people, it’s trickling down from the top."

Those hoity toity nurses with their posh ways!

"These concerns are not being raised by a cleaner on the minimum wage"

Recent tribunals have indeed demonstrated that it is very difficult to take your employer to court if you don't have any money

"there are external forces funded by big money from Elon Musk to JK Rowling"

It's all funded by big wizard.

"We see negative headlines about trans people in the media every day"

Well Stonewall did rather put the boot in by suggesting that anyone should be able to claim a trans identity, including recently arrested sex offenders.

"often most damagingly in reference to protecting women from women who aren’t trans"

? cat fights? mud wrestling? what is she talking about?

Llamasarellovely · 09/11/2025 17:18

Im sure that article was cut short and in the full version she explained how to tell the "violent men" apart from TW, and obviously she explained what "compassionate alternative" she's offering?
Right?

Her compassionate alternative is presumably sending women who disagree with her to a lovely gulag for reprogramming.

Not only is this woman a highly paid politician, she is also, god help us, on the Womens and Equalities Select Committee.

Let's just very much hope she is as inept at getting things done as she is at critical thinking.

It's staggering how utterly thick so many of our MP's seem to be nowadays.

SionnachRuadh · 09/11/2025 17:27

I know David Lammy is a tempting comedy target, but at least his brand of noisy bumbling adds something to the gaiety of the nation.

Not enough members of the public have heard of Nadia Whittome. Labour's opponents could do worse than put clips of her on TikTok with the caption this nitwit is a Labour MP.

Helleofabore · 09/11/2025 17:36

“These concerns are not being raised by a cleaner on the minimum wage, somebody stuck in an abusive relationship. Trans people aren’t a threat to them,"

Has she not been following the nurses cases? Does she not listen to transwidows?

Right now she sounds like she is talking about an alternative reality.

It is possible she's a sleeper agent for The Our Not Your Party? And has made some agreement to stay in Labour just to discredit them.

Can she tell violent ordinary men from non violent ordinary men? Women around the world would love to find that out too.

That's what I mean. Surely she knows that this pretty widely reported case would make her false statement seem ridiculous?

I think at this stage she is speaking absolute cobblers. Sadly, some people will not have the background knowledge to know this. No doubt that is who is attempting to convince

Domesticatednottamed · 09/11/2025 17:49

"protecting women from women who aren’t trans"

Anyone know what the fuck this means?
Women who aren't trans are women, does she mean protecting men who pretend to be women from women?

NumberTheory · 09/11/2025 17:59

You just need to follow where the transphobia is coming from, it’s not coming from working class people, it’s trickling down from the top.

That is hilarious. The idea that the trans over reach of the last 20 years has had more support from working class people than the middle and upper classes!

Theeyeballsinthesky · 09/11/2025 16:48

She's so dense light bends round her 🤪

Mixing up several narratives and throwing in a bit of conspiracy theory for good measure. I really despair over the intellectual wasteland in the Labour Party 😭

Dragonasaurus · 09/11/2025 18:12

People who want to stand to be mp’s should, in my opinion, have to pass a test to demonstrate a basic level of logical, critical thinking, and a basic level of English and statistics comprehension & communication.

Whittome is busy demonstrating why I would think this
