Five nurses working at Darlington Memorial Hospital have filed a legal case suing their employer, an NHS trust, for sexual harassment and sex discrimination. The nurses object to sharing the women’s changing facilities with a male colleague, Rose, who identifies as female. The hearing started on October 20th, with evidence starting on October 22nd and is scheduled to last 3 weeks. To view the hearing online requests for access had to be made by October 17th. The hearing is being live tweeted by Tribunal Tweets who have background to this case on their substack. The Judge made clear at the start of the public hearing on Day 1 that only TT or press have permission to tweet. If online observers see/hear something in the court that isn’t reported by TT, we don’t mention it until the next time there’s a break. This is a very cautious approach to avoid any accusations of “live reporting” on MN. Commentary on the content of TT tweets is fine as soon as they’re posted on X.

This witness would be a nightmare to work for. Condescending, smug and always right.

None of these people are clear communicators. I bet some of the issues have been exacerbated by talking at cross purposes and using unclear, inaccurate language

This is shocking behaviour from a nurse; absolutely no sympathy for a female colleague going through intimate surgery, only for a bloke larping as his version of a 'woman'.
I am disgusted with a lot of members of the nursing profession lately.

I think her self perception of “understanding transition” when others in her opinion do not, makes her feel special.

Her shrugging, her pursed lips, her use of airquotes around 'transgender'.

She also referred to "transgenders", and while I try to be wary of criticising the use of any specific term out of context it does set my teeth on edge in a possibly-genuinely-transphobic sort of way.

Well, I think that conclusively proves the credibility point.

Saying the statement by KD is all untrue, literally seconds after being proved to be lying about knowing about the complaint/court case.

I cringed when she said it.

It's bloody clear here who needs a lesson in kindness and it's certainly not any of the claimants.

She did herself no favours there calling KD a liar. She has emails written by herself proving that she was angry at the request. We also know PALS intervened and stopped Rose attending the operation.

Exactly what did KD lie about?

She just sounds angry and bitter.

A concerning amount of rumbles it seems given the witness must have been concerned enough about the rumbles to mention them to others who also would no doubt be concerned about her concern about the rumbles of concern she was hearing from concerned nurses concerned about the man and his concerning behaviour.

When the camera didn’t get switched round at the beginning I found it interesting to watch the legal teams and the folks behind them. It would be great to have a split screen so you could see the barristers and the witness at the same time but I know that is not something that will happpen but the body language would be fascinating.

Wow. I’ve been away for a few days and travelling back today, and I’ve been glued to these threads, alternately stifling screams of rage and snorts of laughter at your on-point comments. Thank you all, but bloody hell. What an absolute binfire these people are.

De-lurking to say I'm furious she said that about Karen and after being proven a liar. I think the judge should have admonished her. Very rarely say this about another woman but......she is spiteful.

I felt sick after watching that.

This NHS Trust seems to have attracted some very unpleasant people and given them far too much power.

I think that was a very stupid thing to do. Does she seriously think that the judge won't be reflecting on whether or not evidence is true and can be substantiated? Does she have any evidence KD is lying beyond 'she was making my life fucking difficult the bitch'?

She doesn't actually seem to know what she believes but does know she must destroy the unbelievers.

Thats the NHS for you.
The wrong people are promoted and the right people leave.

Especially as the judge said he was allowing that line of questioning to assess credibility
