I thought this deserved a thread of its own. It seems women meeting together to discuss feminism and issues affecting them are deliberately provacative.

It sounds like she thinks Brighton should be 'identified' as a no go area for reality, and anyone who wants to bring some in should be harassed and hounded until they take that crappy reality away.

BundleBoogie · 11/10/2025 08:59

Just wow!!

Sian Berry blames the women for the violence against them.

How much do we want to bet that her offer of ‘help to prevent all this’ involved having the event cancelled or moved elsewhere?

How much does she hate women?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 11/10/2025 09:00

Agree it needs its own thread. Her comment is utterly appalling.

As pp pointed out on other threads, if she attempted to put pressure on the venue not to host it she could be taken to court.

ItsCoolForCats · 11/10/2025 09:02

I will never understand women like her. Never

NoWordForFluffy · 11/10/2025 09:02

The ratio on X says everything about the level of support she has (or otherwise!).

BundleBoogie · 11/10/2025 09:03

Reading it again - she actually wants Brighton and Hove Council NOT to host women’s events!!!!

Does she get the crown for top sellout of women?

BundleBoogie · 11/10/2025 09:04

Good! She deserves it.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 11/10/2025 09:05

Any remotely competent, less one issue politician would at least pay lip service to the wrongness of criminal damage and intimidation of women by men.

Shedmistress · 11/10/2025 09:09

Not even a 'I disagree with their views but they have the right to say them and to book venues owned by the local council like every other citizens of the UK'.

Gosh Sian. And you call yourself a 'Champion of Justice'. Only for some eh love, those with penises no doubt.

DialSquare · 11/10/2025 09:11

Disgusting traitor to her own sex.

SirEctor · 11/10/2025 09:12

FOI request for her communications with the council on this matter?

Maybe the help she meant was beefed up security and a strong anti-violence message?

LivelyFinch · 11/10/2025 09:15

I wonder what is in the mindset of these dick pandering women? She really is an utter disgrace.

Helleofabore · 11/10/2025 09:18

The response to Filia this year has been incredible to see. I hope all the women stay safe.

Howver, if police are also not removing protestors from blocking entrance to the venue, how is this allowed?

Didn’t the Glasgow police cordon the protest to across the street? Why have Brighton police allowed blockage?

Surely that should be something Sian Berry looks into? Of course, she won’t .

AramintaWildbloode · 11/10/2025 09:19

I watched a documentary about Harvey Weinstein and other serial abusers last night.
The point was made that in every case a woman was instrumental in facilitating men abusing other women.
This seems like more of the same to me.

Dozer · 11/10/2025 09:24

Don’t know who she is: is she a local politician?

’Events that inflame division and create tension must be guarded against’.

Who is she suggesting are best placed to decide what events, topics or groups could be ‘inflammatory’, ‘divisive’ and the cause of ‘tension’? Who does she think will become ‘inflamed’ or ‘tense’? Does the think those people have insufficient opportunity to express their disagreement?

BlueLegume · 11/10/2025 09:26

@Theeyeballsinthesky excellent thread. I am flabbergasted at how tone deaf Sian Berry has been. My only other thought is she is being ‘told’ to react in this way which - and I am being kind here - has she been coerced into sitting on the side of the TRAs? I particularly dislike the fact she has already discussed the situation with the council which questions why as a woman she would do so - unless she was coerced to do so.

She's the former leader of the Green Party, and the MP for Brighton Pavilion.

Alucard55 · 11/10/2025 09:30

She's a disgrace. Has she anything to say about the very male violence that was on show.

GCAcademic · 11/10/2025 09:30

Being able to dismiss women's rights is the preserve of a certain kind of woman. They don't see that they need their sex-based rights because they are able to insulate themselves and their interests through their class and finanicial privilege. Sian Berry and Emma Watson are prominent examples of this.

Dozer · 11/10/2025 09:31

Thank you @GCAcademic

As she’s a standing MP I would indeed be interested in FoI about any interactions she had with the council.

From her tweet it certainly sounds like she suggested that they seek to intervene to prevent the event taking place in Brighton/Hove - which would be suppression of freedom of speech and to gather.

By ‘guarded against’ presumably she means banned. how antidemocratic.

SingleSexSpacesInSchools · 11/10/2025 09:32

@Dozer - not only is she the local MP she is the one ignoring school girls being forced to change with males in the secondary in her constituency - https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/womens_rights/5404868-single-sex-changing-spaces-in-a-brighton-secondary-school-new-school-year-new-thread?reply=147701770&utm_campaign=reply&utm_medium=share

Edited

Please, please FOI her. As you can see I’m deep
in conversation and FOI/SAR territory and always at risk of vexatious accusations. The more people who pressurise Sian the better.

for that matter everyone on this thread could email a quick foi to [email protected]

Just correcting this.

The police seem to have now moved them so women only have to walk past them.

SingleSexSpacesInSchools · 11/10/2025 09:37

@BlueLegume no compelling here. She is a true, true believer in bepenised women.
