Welcome one and all - as the nights draw in, pull up a chair to the fire, and the gerbils will be along soon with hot chocolate and Tunnock’s teacakes.

Leopard print is my thing i have no idea why and it is to late to start parading my leopard print possessions

lcakethereforeIam · 04/09/2025 22:20

All part of life's rich tapestry.

I'm ashamed to admit that when the secret of the biglys was just posted on a thread where anyone could read it, I was aghast! But I'm actually enjoying seeing them popping up all over the shop. So, shows what I know.

Bannedontherun · 04/09/2025 22:22

As for David Tenant, he is an attention seeking fuck wit at the cost of his children who could only get his attention when they became “specials”

and yet it was and is still alllll about him.

I once did a training course on personality disordered people, and the acting community, were cited as commonly having this problem.

and hey ho now we learn that trans children occurring is this cohort are more common than average

I can't believe I missed the opening of the real Bluestocking! It's wonderful. Tbf if I'd been there I would have ducked out of the photos anyway.

Myrtle the Jakeman fairies are adorable.

Re. shoes. I've never been a fan of animal prints but those burgundy heels are lovely.

At the moment I'm schlepping round in a fugly pair of Sketchers. Comfy and easy to put on and take off.

Celebrations can be a bit dangerous for cakes so probably just as well

MyrtleLion · 04/09/2025 22:29

My boots. They come in half sizes, too!

That was my fault.

😔

lcakethereforeIam · 04/09/2025 22:40

Flowers I think it worked out.

I've been watching this guy, MasterBuilderAlec or possibly Alex, on YouTube shorts which probably means he's also on Tiktok. He does Lego builds. Works for them. He's so lovely and whimsical. Makes my day when he posts something new. In fact he's so lovely I'm sure he has to be hiding something 🤨 However, I try not to think about that 😕

Most of the tricks are only a Google away anyway these days.

SionnachRuadh · 04/09/2025 23:26

I keep meaning to learn the tricks. Sometimes I think I've accidentally discovered a trick, but that just means I've hit the wrong shortcut and my keyboard is now Macedonian or something.

<looks around nervously> You know we have no favourites here in the Bluestocking, we are all good chums on an equal footing, right?

So nobody is going to feel slighted if I post my Boiledbeetle model, right?

It's not favouritism, it's only because I'm particularly proud of itGrin
It does make your bum look big, Boily, but I don't think that's considered a bad thing these days!

Boily got back! Love it.

loving also the shoe photos. Daren’t post a photo of mine - too much hassle to assemble them all together. Among my favourites are a beautiful paid of Jimmy Choos, a pair of yellow sling back heels and a pair of red sparkly heels - that my son spotted in the sales one year when he was wee, ran up to me with them saying “you have to get these ones mummy, everybody will LOVE you!”. I really love shoes, and I really love bright things. Yet for the past five or six years I’ve mainly worn a pair of grey walking trainers.

Britinme · 05/09/2025 03:06

I have loved many pairs of funky shoes in my time. I wistfully remember the petrol blue suede platform sandals with the yellow suede Apple appliquéd on them, and the pair of red, green and purple ankle boots. Sadly I now have to wear shoes with arch supports built in and cut wide enough for my fat feet.

ErrolTheDragon · 05/09/2025 07:28

Yeah, I’m firmly in ‘wide enough for my feet’ territory. I’ve had to ditch most of my nice shoes because they don’t fit. Default footwear is Merrell walking shoes - 3 pairs in various states of use. Summer is better because sandals are more adjustable - I like dresses but I don’t think I’ve any footwear other than sandals I’d want to wear with them (never learned to like the trainers or ankle boots with dresses look, I don’t think it works well on short women).

AlexandraLeaving · 05/09/2025 07:47

I am likewise “wide enough for my far feet”. The JCs are (just), though are a bit too high for my middle age vertigo, think I will have to rehome them. The red sparklies definitely are, another reason to love them. Perhaps I should wear them more.

Magpiecomplex · 05/09/2025 08:45

Another one with wide feet, I just choose carefully to make sure they fit. Merrells are great, but can be a tad narrow sometimes - my walking shoes are men's Merrells in what claims to be a 10. I wear a 7 or 8 normally.

Oh that's lovely! They are big animals and wild animals and I normally wouldn't feel comfortable if one of them approached me, but Moosey here looks kind-of lonely and really keen for some human interaction and getting its nose stroked - what a sweety!
You have a lovely family, InkySmile

You didn't appear in the selfie with Emmeline, Cake, but you are well represented inside the Real Bluestocking😃
Note the Lemon Drizzle cake has a hazard warning sign, as I know it 'divides opinion''!

And I put in a 50p piece [scrabbled around for ages to find a UK coin; I remembered 50p pieces as bigger than this so they may have been reduced in size at some point?] to give you an idea of scale, I keep forgetting to do that.

There are even lemons here, too late to mend fences alas..😞

Here's a funny story about the little cakes: originally I was going to make bar stools, and made some tops out of clay, but then I found that attaching four tiny legs to tiny round tops many times over would be a fecking nightmare, so the stool tops got decorated as cakes insteadSmile

The same thread also had this one, which I always like. Don't mess with those @inkymoose Mooses.

Edited

I thought bears could swim and mooses couldn't... clearly the bear did too, and we were both wrong😁
I'm sure the moose is as lovely as the rest of Inky's family, and was in the right, and the bear had done something really naughty, Transgressed the Unwritten Rule or something.

Lucky tourists, eh?!

DeanElderberry · 05/09/2025 11:38

I think the bear had tried to eat the moose's baby. Mothers do tend to get snitty about that for some reason.

lcakethereforeIam · 05/09/2025 11:42

Oh my god! The detail! It just blows my mind.

And thank you for your consideration towards those of us who are lemon drizzle cake adverse.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 05/09/2025 12:14

I am not a big ‘shoe’ person - I’ve worn flats for so long that I don’t think I could manage heels any more. I have a beloved pair of Hush puppy mule type sandals - they are so comfortable that I’ve bought two more identical pairs on eBay, so I don’t have to get used to new shoes! If I ever go somewhere where I need to wear proper shoes, I wear ballet flats.

But I covet pretty shoes, and I have to stop myself buying shoes that I know I’d never be able to wear or walk in, even though they would look so nice in my collection.

Dh used to buy really expensive Churches brogues (when he had lots of disposable income, instead of a wife and children) - he has very narrow feet and these are the only shoes that fit him. He has them resoled and re heeled, and they last him for years - he has one pair he’s had longer than he’s known me! Now he buys them second hand on eBay, for a lot less, and gets them resoled and reheeled, and then they last for years.
