Welcome one and all - as the nights draw in, pull up a chair to the fire, and the gerbils will be along soon with hot chocolate and Tunnock’s teacakes.

The good news though was that Lidl's German event meant they had Nuremberg Bratwurst and nice herbal teas in stock, so I'm contemplating an autumn of varied rumbledythumps colcannon mash-ups (see!) accompanied by sausagey deliciousness, followed by a mug of subtly flavoured hot water.

Oh, and the windfall apples are starting to fall, so yesterday's lunch was a salad of home-sourced apple, tomato, and oregano with feta. I'm sure the gerbils have excellent Bluestocking garden produce available.

Whether we use personae or just present as versions of our human selves, we all bring STUFF with us that our fellow posters might get intimations of as time goes on. We can tease and rewrite and prod the gerbils all we like, they're resilient.

Actual posters less so, there are all sorts of troubles lurking in our backgrounds. We have survived this long on mutual respect and on not playing tricks on each other and on not stirring pots. I'm sorry Lemon feels bruised, being new to a place, real or online, always brings a danger of inadvertently putting ones foot in it. Whatever 'it' is.

My trouble yesterday, great and overshadowing, was that my local bookshop DID NOT HAVE A COPY of a certain just-published tome. 'So sorry, maybe Thursday'.

Bloody Thursday.

Worth the wait, I promise you.

Cross posted from another thread.

The Walrus drove me to our local restaurant by the river for our anniversary yesterday. The food and wine were excellent (as always), and I then slowly walked back the 300m to the house on crutches.

I had a couple of stops, and we had brought a cushion to prop up my leg so I leant on that on a windowsill a couple of times. It was probably too far to walk as I’m quite sore this morning, but it was nice to get out.

We then had a bottle of wine at home and he managed to spill my glass over my clean white trousers. Fortunately my cleaning instructions were clear, and we keep kitchen roll in the living room, so I took them off, put kitchen roll under the stain inside the trousers, and the Walrus went downstairs and sprayed a lot of Vanish on them. He will wash them later, but says they already look clean, no wine stains and he has sprayed them with Vanish again. Hats off to my best friend’s daughter for the tip.

When I went up to bed last night, I found that one of the dogs had done a big wee on the bed - quilt, sheet and mattress protector had to go in the wash but luckily the mattress wasn’t wet - our old dog used to have the odd accident on the bed (a side effect of being spayed, apparently), hence the mattress protector. Neither of our current dogs have ever had an accident on the bed, but we kept the protector anyway, thankfully.

Dh was not too chuffed at having to change the bedding at gone 11pm - I did what I could to help, but it wasn’t much.

happy birthday GIF

Very belated Happy Birthday wishes to @JanesLittleGirl I'm just catching up after spending 2 days ensconced in NHS Fife fuckwittery.

I am still reading NC167 page submissions, and no where near finished yet and @Boiledbeetle is just a show off or an intellectual giant, or a retired person or all of the above.

If it helps, because I stayed up late reading the submission I did end up with a stinking headache yesterday afternoon! Now I just feel hungover!

And I read it all with Naomis voice in my head! It was interesting seeing it all pulled together from all the carp that's been spouted.

I really wish we could see NHS Fifes, but that's never going to happen.

Take that, Lego Tits!

Can androids feel Lego when they step on it?

Oh, yes. Definitely JKR’s fault.

Do you have the links to NC docs as i cannot ruddy find them now, or page on Nauticants thread <passess bag of snowballs and paracetamol>

Britinme · 03/09/2025 13:57

@MyrtleLion I am reading the same tome on Kindle, trying not to race through it too quickly!

MarieDeGournay · 03/09/2025 14:16

Thank you for all your work posting TT on the Tribunal, and linking to other valuable stuff Myrtle - you've earned yourself a niche in the Tribunal Threasd Pantheon along with Nauticant, the admirable thread-wrangler.😁

MyrtleLion · 03/09/2025 14:23

It is also very much JKR’s fault that I have so much MN to catch up on that I don’t have time to listen to The Hallmarked Man or read NC’s final submission.

I hadn’t realised that was JKR’s fault too, @ErrolTheDragon. She just gets worse and worse.

Spilt wine is definitely more of a tragedy than wee in the bed, @MarieDeGournay!

Even though there is a pink stain on my beige sofa, and I was denied the pleasure of that glass of wine (another was poured post haste), I would say that wee in the bed is the greater tragedy.

MarieDeGournay · 03/09/2025 14:50

Gaia and Guinivere were honoured to be the bearers of the ceremonial offering of Tunnocks, and the silver scissors for Emmeline to cut the ribbon..

MarieDeGournay · 03/09/2025 14:55

And of course, the Bluestockingers were keen to have their photo taken with Emmeline - 'The 'Gette Set' as she wittingly dubbed us!

Unfortunately not ALL the Stockingers are visible in the photo but you were all there, every single one of you, nobody was left out... so please don't be upset if you can't spot yourself in the photo.

Boily, may I compliment you on your choice of crocs, and I'm sorry that the camera angle makes your bum look big in the photo😬
