It's the "etc" that worries me. Under Max Hill the CPS were force-fed some of the most witless DEI training & I see no sign of improvement under Stephen Parkinson. Then there's Sophie Cook, the burly trans-identified male CPS Speak Out Champion (no, me neither) who's been treating them to his non-existent expertise on hate crime & his habit of calling any dissent from his own views "transphobia".
The CPS has the same perverse incentives as the police to pursue hurty words cases - experienced staff have been leaving for years, recruitment is difficult, resources are scant; hurty words cases are cheap & easy to process & convictions make CPS metrics look pretty to govt. "look, we done some successful proscutifying!"
