Twitter became his procrastination/distraction, just before he became involved with the trans stuff Count Arthur Strong had been dropped and The Walshes wasn't renewed for a second series by the BBC.

He's quite happy to be earning £100k+ a year from his substack (written by unpaid women) and sitting on X all day.

What do you mean, his substack is written by unpaid women?

Hi all, I'm new to mumsnet but very much not new to the gender wars. I've been a TERF for a very long time. I came here to see if anyone had been discussing Graham Linehan's blatantly racist tweet yesterday, and to see whether people are ready to acknowledge the malign and toxic presence he is in this movement.

Yesterday's tweet was particularly shocking, but he's been actively malicious, vindictive and harmful to to this movement for years now. Gender critical women have tolerated, enabled and encouraged this because he gave them permission to hate a bunch of women he decreed to be not as good a feminist as he is. The best time for the gender critical movement to distance themselves from him was five years ago. The second best time is now.

No, what was this racist tweet? Can someone provide a screenshot?

And just who are these women he's encouraged women to hate?

I wish people would come right out and say something instead of writing in riddles and codes. It's too confusing to work out.

Happily shared a stage with Rod Liddle.
Ridiculed Meret Schneider, a woman with severe anorexia.

I've no time for the man.

Being non-UK I don't know who Ron Liddle is. Is he a paedophile or something?

Meret Schneider campaigns to remove the rights of rape survivors like me to have single sex spaces. I have NO mercy for, she is fair game imo, especially as she is well-connected in the party and can easily get help if she wanted to. No, fuck her.

Glinner is not a disgrace🙄
JKR is not a disgrace.

Both of them are great. Not perfect but brilliant in their own way. Just like the rest of us.

Agreed. I've only heard rumours about things Glinner has said. All unsubstantiated. Nothing, not one single thing, has ever been substantiated. I think some women just don't like men being part of our movement. Which I guess as a feminist I can understand in a way, I just wish they would be honest about it and come out and say that is the reason instead of wishywashy unsubstantiated stuff here and there, nothing tangible. I used to follow him on twitter and he's a lovely man, never saw a single vindictive post or bone in his body.

ThatBlackCat · 15/11/2025 04:54

Too late for me to edit, but also Happily shared a stage with Rod Liddle. Firstly as I said, I have no idea who he is and what his crime/s are. But even that aside, are we sure Graham "happily" shared a stage? This exact very same accusation is made about Posie and left wing feminists for the major crime of being at rallies where nazis showed up. Without their consent. They didn't "happily" share the stage with nazis. And that is even supposing Graham knew or understood fully this Liddle's crime/s.

Until I get something substantiated and actually tangible, I'm also treating that as Guilt By Association which our side has been victims of more times than we can count.

proximalhumerous · 15/11/2025 06:17

As far as the tweets on the OP are concerned, surely the last one is a parody of some hapless person making a hash of what they're trying to do with technology? Like someone posting their search for haemorrhoid cream as their Facebook status. The sort of thing that might happen in one of his sitcoms.

TortillaKitty · 15/11/2025 06:22

BlackCat I’ve attached a screenshot of GL’s tweet. It’s … dodgy. And speaking of guilt by association, how many times can it be brought up before it’s recognised there may be some kind of problem or pattern there? It just seems to arise so often.

(The image could take a bit to appear due to the approval process.)

crossant · 15/11/2025 06:53

You can bring it up as many times as you like, and it still won't be remotely persuasive or any kind of argument. If someone has abhorrent views or does abhorrent things, then provide evidence of that. Otherwise maybe get used to the idea that people are different and some people might not be your cup of tea.

EweSurname · 15/11/2025 08:03

I was shocked by his tweets this week. He’s always been blunt, which I didn’t mind, and has clearly been the target of deranged men but the blackface tweet was uncalled for and really ill-judged. Lots of people have pointed out it’s unacceptable but I don’t think he agrees as it’s still up.

Ok, fair enough, yes that is bad.

myplace · 15/11/2025 08:50

He’s a ‘say it and be damned’ kind of a guy. It’s not my kind of humour, being provocative to see people froth in response.

I’d probably find him intensely irritating irl. It doesn’t change anything he has said or done before though. People are the sum of many different elements.

Alltheprettyseahorses · 15/11/2025 08:58

He's an awful man. I really don't understand why some women defend him. I can only think it's the GC version of being a handmaiden.

I am extraordinarily grateful for everything Glinner has done for women’s rights (going back as far as campaigning for repeal the 8th and gamer gate and long before any of this), he’s how I found FWR, but this is a bad tweet. I hope he takes it down.

DrLouiseJMoody · 15/11/2025 11:51

It's certainly ill-judged and, whilst we've all said things impulsively, most of us aren't doing it on a seemingly hourly basis to six hundred thousand followers.

Yes, he copies and pastes posts into his Sub stack with minimal commentary (I've been quoted without permission once or twice) and is on record as saying he earns approx. £90,000 a year from it which begs the question as to why he can't fund the initial stages of all his cases, some of which are wholly avoidable.

There's strange "celebrity" worship amongst some and confusion about what feminism means (it's not synonymous with merely being GC although being GC often goes hand in hand). By definition, Graham can only ever be an ally and, for me personally, I consider a man who has slandered hard working women, been less than transparent with vast Crowdfunded sums, plagiarises women's work for his blog, and who is now making racist comments an abusive liability rather than someone who has actually achieved anything for women.

Rod Liddle was cautioned for assaulting his pregnant girlfriend. He has a track record for being deeply misogynistic ... amongst other things.

I know exactly who Meret Schneider is. I vehemently disagree with her stance on trans rights. But being a survivor of anorexia myself, I'll take issue with anyone ridiculing a woman's anorexic appearance. Especially when they know full well she's suffering from the disorder.

crossant · 15/11/2025 14:09

Especially when they know full well she's suffering from the disorder.

He didn't know that, though did he?
He was attempting to make a point about her veganism and deleted the tweet as soon as he was told about her anorexia.

frostedpixie · 15/11/2025 14:15

Please just stop.

He knew.

He deleted it after he got blow back.

I don't think there's any evidence of that whatsoever. He's not exactly known for deleting things just because people object to them, and has kept up tweets that have received far more blow back.

The most likely and plausible explanation is the one that Glinner gave - he hadn't realised she had anorexia and deleted the tweet as soon as he was informed.

Plausible to you. I don't think there's evidence to support the fact that he didn't know. Apart from his word. Schneider has been very open about her disorder for some time now. The distressing photos of her addressing the Swiss National Council last year are all over the internet.
I think Glinner realised that his post was viewed as horrendous. And that it was utterly indefensible. Which is why he deleted it.

We'll have to agree to disagree on this one.

The evidence is that he said he didn't know, that he deleted the tweet as soon as he was told, and that (afaik) he hasn't previously tweeted about her. What other evidence would you want to see?

crossant · 15/11/2025 17:03

Fwiw, I'd never heard of Meret Schneider or seen that photo before Glinner's tweet. And it wasn't at all obvious to me that she had anorexia from looking at it.

No, it wasn't obvious to me that she had anorexia but it was plainly obvious that she has a serious health condition. But even if you somehow happen to not notice that (perhaps if one is blind and a bit dim) then it's still appalling for a man to be casually commenting upon a woman's appearance like that. Spin it however you like but Graham behaved disgustingly and his remarks are no better than those from misogynistic TRAs.

Fuck off with that, and then fuck off some more.

He's now made a bit of an idiot of himself going after Victoria Coren Mitchell, who has had the sense not to rise to it. Quite how he equates a TV quiz studio with women's safe spaces, goodness only knows.
