Glinner
OP posts:
YouHaveAnArse · 20/11/2025 13:36

It's never been about 'women's safe spaces' for him. It's been about proving he's the guy in the right.

I'd bet that even the most GC people here have absolutely no issue with a trans person appearing on a quiz show that's open to all and competing like anyone else. It's basically just insulting people for their appearance at a certain point, as with the MP who is anorexic, because you disagree with them.

MalagaNights · 20/11/2025 14:10

I love Glinner.

Flaws and all.

He is someone who just will not tell the lie, or stay quiet, even when it costs him dearly.
He clearly harms himself and others in this No Surrender approach, but thank God for people like him, flaws and all. We need them.

I don't care if he used to watch porn, or makes ill judged tweets.

Also, I like Rod Liddle, for his outspoken, I'm not playing your game, stance.

People can have admirable traits alongside deep flaws.
Looking for perfect idols is a stupid game.

Plausible to you. I don't think there's evidence to support the fact that he didn't know. Apart from his word. Schneider has been very open about her disorder for some time now. The distressing photos of her addressing the Swiss National Council last year are all over the internet.
I think Glinner realised that his post was viewed as horrendous. And that it was utterly indefensible. Which is why he deleted it.

We'll have to agree to disagree on this one.

That's not how evidence works. You have to evidence your claim, not make assertions, demand people prove you wrong & back yourself up with "it stands to reason, dunnit" & "vibes man, vibes".
Schneider's really not "all over the internet", she's a minor political figure in a country of 9 million people. Expecting someone in the UK/ US to have heard of her, far less of her illness, is like assuming we all know the life stories of every municipal politician in Paris. She may be all over your feeds but that's how algos work, they give you what will they infer will interest you.

Hitler was a vegetarian. I was a vegetarian. Does that mean I liked or supported everything else Hitler did? Another way to describe it is that a broken clock is right twice a day.

Just because we may all agree on one thing is not an automatic obligation to agree with every single other thing a person thinks or does. That’s not how it works.

People with GC views will be feminists, not feminists, right wing, not right wing, female, not female.

Do we? Who is he helping by desperately trying to pick a fight over who turns up on a quiz show?

Everything he does doesn't have to helpful to mean that some of the things he's done have been helpful, brave and signficant.

Don't be dim.
That's basic logic.

Ah, yes, the lovely Rod.

Who accepted a caution for assaulting his pregnant girlfriend. Who joked about not being able to smoke at Auschwitz. Who penned a lengthy article musing that it really should be OK to download and look at child pron if you do it responsibly like he would.

A provocative & outspoken stance or just an appalling dolt?

MalagaNights · 20/11/2025 20:07

Rod Liddle takes contrary positions to the extremes and offends everyone.

His writing is very funny and often makes me laugh out loud.

I don't know if he's a great bloke, he's probably a right obnoxious knob and describes himself as such, but I don't care, he's not my friend or husband he's a commentator who will skewer the hypocrisy, group think and performativity in the culture when others won't.

Read Rod Liddle or don't (if you're easyly offended don't) but don't claim everyone who speaks to him, must be not a Nice Person. All this: But These are not Nice People is so tiresome and boring.

I'd probably receommend you don't date Rod Liddle but reading him or speaking to him should be fine.

Why is he picking a fight with VCM?Confused

Because, judging from his posts, he thinks it acceptable to tag in people and demand answers before thousands. I don't know what VCM's views are but it's boundary crossing to tag in a woman like that and demand an answer on an issue over which others have lost careers, opportunities, and various relationships. Silence can be frustrating but no-one is owed a public answer.

TooBigForMyBoots · 20/11/2025 23:07

Thanks @DrLouiseJMoody Thanks

I'm tired of GL having a go at women he thinks aren't supporting him sufficiently. I wish he'd go back to writing really funny stuff. When he moved to America I hoped it would be a new start for him, but it appears not.

But basic logic also says that you harm the cause by picking ridiculous fights that make you and those who agree with you look pointlessly aggressive.

Why is he picking a fight with VCM?Confused

He objects to trans people turning up on Only Connect, blames VCM because he thinks she chooses the contestants, and has made a wholly unsustainable connection between that and all the issues around things like trans women in sports, safe spaces etc.

Glinner - not guilty of harassment, guilty of criminal damage

ItsCoolForCats · 25/11/2025 10:35

I think being cleared of harassment is the biggie. I'm sure Lyndsey Watson will be displeased.

BezMills · 25/11/2025 10:36

the FAFO phone got criminally damaged. OK I'll buy that. He oughtn't have chucked the phone, but he did, in the heat of the moment.

I think very little of the individual who was running around putting their phone in people's faces, then went greeting to the polis when their phone got damaged. What an absolute melt.

rebax · 25/11/2025 10:36

Judge Clarke said that while his posts were “deeply unpleasant and even unnecessary” they were not “oppressive or unacceptable” and did not meet the criminal standard for harassment.

ProfessorTRex · 25/11/2025 10:45

"J I heard from witnesses and watched video clips. I have concluded C was not giving entirely truthful evidence. D was a credible witness - "whilst firm in his views... he was not seeking to mislead the court""

From NW. SB won't like being called a liar.

murasaki · 25/11/2025 10:52

SB and the TRAs will still paint it as a win.

DontStopMe · 25/11/2025 10:53

BBC report. They're finally acknowledging reality.

Ms Brooks, who was 18 at the time, is a trans woman who was born a biological male.

I wonder if the claimant's harassment of those at the conference will be addressed in the damages.

MarieDeGournay · 25/11/2025 11:01

From the Telegraph
Reading a summary of her judgment to Westminster Magistrates’ Court, District Judge Clarke said she did not find the complainant “was as alarmed or distressed” as they had portrayed themself to be after Linehan made a string of tweets about them.
The judge added: “I’m not satisfied that conduct amounted to harassment.”
She said while Linehan’s posts were “unattractive, annoying and irritating”, they did not cross the line of being harassment.
...
She said the posts “did not cross the boundary from regrettable to unacceptable” and added that Linehan did not tag the claimant in any of them.

Sometimes I ❤judges😁

This is a criminal trial. There may be a fine paid into government coffers but there is no question of paying damages to Tarquin.

Good! I would just like to see harassment charges brought against these vindictive TRAs but I know that's not likely to happen given the current state of the police etc.
