Welcome to the Bluestocking Arms, the home of good company, excellent drinks and delicious cakes which magically have no irksome contents like gluten or sugar or calories or the kind of alcohol that causes problems - but you wouldn't knowSmile

Food and drink are served by a keen staff of gerbils, and other animals such as capybaras, quokkas, etc., also fulfil vital roles, while looking cute AF.

New Bluestockingers always welcome.

I can do bigly.

ifIwerenotanandroid · 04/06/2025 20:45

Meanwhile, over on X, what's that gerbil done now?

On a recent Gardeners Question Time I heard they are a considered a rare exotic plant with their wonderful clocks in Singapore, with seeds being sold online and dandelion artworks in the airport!

Well, I never knew that. A very intelligent someone I know and love said recently that she was relatively old when she realised that the plants with yellow flowers and the ones with puffy white tops were related.

Every year I blow the mind of at least one of my students with this!

Glenda? Was she the one who did rude graffiti after that disastrous game of monopoly?

SionnachRuadh · 04/06/2025 20:51

Douglas Ross is trending? I would ask if he's done something noteworthy, but I prefer to think that the gods are having a bit of fun letting him have a day where he can feel like Justin Bieber.

Yes. She also does dance videos.

Oh dear god she's probably a Garron Noone fan. I bet she thinks he's a gerbil.

I am so missing the laugh emoticon. Poor Gerald. Personally I find Gosie is one of the most helpful of the gerbils. Good little peacemaker without being a pushover.

Greetings and welcome to Slothtoes and JK987.

Happy anniversary to Fuzzy. Sand eels and champagne 🍾 this evening?

I have an interview tomorrow for a sort-of job that I sort-of want and have been busy today working out how I have ever built knowledge in innovative ways when under pressure while still maintaining quality of output... post-implementation review...blah blah headache.

In between times, I have been soothing a bruised ego on a committee I'm on. I bloody hate committees. Why am I on so many?

I'm now going to watch crap on Prime and do some crochet. And maybe ask a passing gerbil for a pint of full-fat Ghostship.

I think you should resign from your committees just to see their reactions.

Then you could say "only kidding!" and if they look too relieved, just walk away. My DM stopped being secretary of everything when they made her secretary even though she wasn't at the AGM.

Or you could enjoy the power and use it to make everything better.

Zero

Because you steal them all anyway.

Boiledbeetle · 04/06/2025 21:20

@MyrtleLion I do no such thing!

Now where can I hide this stolen box of tea cakes?

It's been a long old day, a long old week in fact, so sometimes the only thing for it is to dig out your stash of teacakes and stick on Goldfinger.

I don't think Goldfinger is on duty until tomorrow morning.

Good luck tomorrow, Edith!
The way things are going with the gerbils at the moment, I think the Cheerbils may not put in an appearance, but 'yay! go Edith!' on their behalf😄

I think the gerbils may need a training day. I fear they are heading for "feral".

FuzzyPuffling · 04/06/2025 21:48

FuzzyPuffling · 04/06/2025 21:50

Billy bigly billy bigly woo hooooooooo

Boiledbeetle · 04/06/2025 21:51

Just caught the gerbils doing their own little tribute to Swash for her birthday.

And we only had one slightly singed tail.

Echoing the good luck @EdithStourton!

ErrolTheDragon · 04/06/2025 22:15

Good luck Edith!

I can do big bigly letters but the really big ones get chopped on the app so not so big bigly is better.

MyrtleLion · 04/06/2025 22:17

I had the impression that Glenda felt undervalued and just needed a project. I thought she could coach the cheerbils to support Edith.

But I think she's just nasty.

I don't want to get HR involved and Glenda must have impressed someone enough to be hired. But I think she's bringing down morale.

Any ideas?
