Linzi Smith is granted Judicial Review over police participation in Pride

Good for Linzi. This has big ramifications, is Pride political? If so it affects schools as well.

BREAKING: The Chief Constable of Northumbria must account to the High Court for her active participation in Northern Pride last year. She was warned. She went ahead anyway.

The court has asked if she intends to actively participate again this year. She states that she will.

Now she’ll have to defend her position at a Judicial Review in July. GC women need to feel safe in Northumbria which is why Linzi Smith is bringing the action. Pride is political.”

Cos thats one of the reasons we have got in this mess through cultural snobberies and a hierachy of what we should and shouldn't like according to social status.

The reason we got into this mess is because we haven’t been judgemental enough about certain culture and been told it is ‘cultural snobbishness’ to think certain behaviours are harmful to society.

Everyone should be held to the same basic standards. Being dismissed as simply childish and therefore somehow not responsible to the same level isn't ok.

You won't get me arguing on that point.

Personally I think you can act in a childish way when appropriate. It's a luxury though and not acceptable all the time. There are times when it is inappropriate to act in this way and where you must be responsible. Every adult is responsible for all their actions (unless judged differently by a medical professional in very limited circumstances). Being an adult you must know the difference between the two otherwise you should be held accountable.

They might be adults who are childish but you still don't let them off the hook as being childish and failing to take the responsibilities of being an adult which are applicable to everyone.

There's a difference.

I’m absolutely not doing that.

Which brings us back to your initial complaint about Pokémon being called childish. In saying a PP bringing it into this thread is childish IS holding them to account. It is pointing out they are treating women’s rights as a game, a fantasy that they are playing and holding them to account for this. No one said ‘they are playing games like children do so we should let them off the hook because they are like a child’. Posters are saying ‘grow up!’

“Stephonknee” was/is a man in his 50s “identifying” as a 6 year old girl. Men who identify with/as children are a red flag for me. I never saw him in any sense as a 6 year old girl, always a middle aged male creep.

It is not dismissed as ‘simply childish’, it is dismissed as it is a fantasy.

Society must not be expected to play along with fantasies

But he is very definitely not being ‘childish’, he is living out a very adult fantasy.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 11/07/2025 13:42

Yes, exactly.

AmaryllisNightAndDay · 11/07/2025 13:50

Awwww - so Mimikyu is the emo figure of the Pokmenon world. Lonely, rejected, sad, angry, seeking love. These games designers really know their market.

I assumed there was a culture behind and alongside Pokemon, enough young people have grown up with it. And I'm talking people now in their thirties including my own DC who owns a stuffed Pikachu (just as I own a Little My) I don't really care what Bee makes of it, Bee is just one person among millions who've grown up with Pokmenon. Bee just doesn't understand that many of us here are simply too old pick up these references, just as Bee is too young to immediately recognise the A-Team.

But I don't dismiss it. I mean no-one gets to dismiss the cultural significance of Bagpuss or The Magic Roundabout - over my dead body.

Anyway, sorry for the derail. Linzi's case is important and I'd certainly love to know how it's all going!!!

You don’t have to agree with me, but you’re never going to convince me that adults obsessed with Pokémon aren’t childish.

Or arseholes.

Back to Linzi

When is the ruling due on the JR ?

Not long hopefully, as the Chief Constable has announced she plans to take part in this year’s pride if not prohibited. That is only weeks away I think.

Talkinpeace · 11/07/2025 17:19

From this little exchange, the outcome is pretty clear ....

https://x.com/QcWynter/status/1943656421100331301
and
https://x.com/RightNUFC/status/1943657427955818577

And for those not on X,

Colin Wynter KC asked

Does anyone know what answer was given to the judge in the
@RightNUFC
case, who asked what the Chief Constable would do if, when out on a Trans jolly, she were to happen upon a Sex Realist counter march or protest?
The answer must necessarily have been interesting.
What was it?

And Linzi replied

He basically stumbled and fumbled over his answer, then said “well if the gender critical’s are committing a criminal offence” then the judge stopped him because that’s not what he asked.
If was met with an audible gasp from all the women in the court room supporting me.
The chief Constable is committing an unlawful act in a protest march, and it’s the gender critical’s in the counter protest that are the problem.

Notfinanciallyresponsibleforyou · 11/07/2025 17:31

Given Stephen Ireland situation and the former Surrey chief constable’s support for Surrey Pride and the shit they gave the PCC there that all Chief Constable’s need to err on the side of caution and not participate in events that could be deemed political.

Their job is to uphold the law and not to implement what they think the law should be.

Talkinpeace · 11/07/2025 17:34

You'd have thought,

but look at the arguments that have been put to the JR and remember that Stephen Ireland was arrested nearly two years ago

shows that police forces are doubling down
not thinking about other than their lobby group members

Imnobody4 · 15/07/2025 19:52

Tomorrow's going to be a big day.
It hasn't taken them long. Fingers crossed.

Ruling in Linzi Smith v Chief Constable of @northumbriapol drops at 1030am tomorrow (Wednesday) morning.
