Linzi Smith is granted Judicial Review over police participation in Pride

Good for Linzi. This has big ramifications, is Pride political? If so it affects schools as well.

BREAKING: The Chief Constable of Northumbria must account to the High Court for her active participation in Northern Pride last year. She was warned. She went ahead anyway.

The court has asked if she intends to actively participate again this year. She states that she will.

Now she’ll have to defend her position at a Judicial Review in July. GC women need to feel safe in Northumbria which is why Linzi Smith is bringing the action. Pride is political.”

@WarriorN
Not good form,
but it is not the Army's job to maintain safety on the street
so they are not directly conflicted

It is even more important that the army are politically neutral than the police!

lcakethereforeIam · 20/07/2025 21:40

I'm assuming there were probably Free Palestine types on the march? It's not outside the realms of possibility that the armed forces might get dragged into that shitshow.

AnSolas · 20/07/2025 22:41

Nothing to do with that.

The army serve under the order of whoever is elected om any given day so thats "at will of the people".

Army officers who have political "notions" have the guns to enforce them on the general population and combat units unlike police are trained to kill to win so not a good combo for holding proper elections to oppose the "notions".

WarriorN · 21/07/2025 06:54

Unsure what sort of uniform this is. Would be good to have clarification

Could they be army cadets as they mostly seem young? If so the older volunteers with them should have said not in uniform.

WarriorN · 21/07/2025 09:57

That’s what I’m thinking, in which case perhaps not legally an issue? At the same time safeguarding of young people within such contexts needs to be considered

Just seen this from Fair Cop. It's done and dusted.

We have just heard from the Chief Constable of @northumbriapol. After consideration with her lawyers, she is not appealing the ruling.

Total victory is ours, @RightNUFC.

Fantastic!

SamiSnail · 22/07/2025 17:35

Yes! Take that you Mens Rights Activists - oh, sorry, 'trans' 'rights' activists. Trans is simply the current era of mens rights bigotry and hate against women. Cope, seethe and (in the less than 8% of men who get any lower operation) dilate! Lets hope it now goes for every single police force in the UK. The police have no business getting involved in political or ideological movements especially when those movements harm the most marginalised and vulnerable group in existence - the female sex class.

Maybe one day police can march in pride parades again: when it is LGB, and doesn't advocate women being raped and killed.

The police should never EVER march in any parade or event where their job is to keep the peace around it

ArabellaScott · 22/07/2025 17:43

Great news, but a little depressing it takes so much effort and work to just put things back to as they should be. Police should always be as politically as impartial as possible.

This. The big mistake here is certain police thought it was ok to align with a political movement because they personally agreed with the aims of it (at least superficially). It doesn’t matter how much of a ‘good thing’ you think a movement is, as soon as the police or army start supporting it you have a police state not a democracy. Or a coup d’etat.

He sounds like a breath of fresh air.

anyolddinosaur · 20/08/2025 17:36

If senior civil servants were doing their job properly no-one would be wearing trans lanyards, putting pronouns in signatures or displaying trans flags. They can attend Pride events if they wish in their own time.
