Here at the Bluestocking there's a place for all women. A break from Reality, and many laughs and stories to share. Have your fill of Tunnocks bars and tea cakes, sing feminist anthems, drink as much beer or gin or hot chocolate as you desire. It won't make you fatter or drunken but oh, it's fun. Sit in the garden with our Lion resident or the Quokkas and Capybara. Express your opinions loudly in Pedantry Corner. Ask for whatever you fancy to be served by our obliging Gerbil staff. Come in, all women, welcome!

I saw cakes, dragons and hedgehogs and my inner pixie said "I wanna go there"

inkymoose · 19/04/2025 01:11

Welcome to Thread no. Umpteen. The Bluestocking is here for you, lovely and argumentative women. Bring your friends (although if they happen to be men, they can go to the Staunch Ally next door)

I was here many threads ago when Beetle was drunk in the flooded cellar. Long before the lion, when did he appear?

inkymoose · 19/04/2025 01:17

Welcome @PurpleSparkledPixie! Great to see you. The Lion is a She - our magnificent @MyrtleLion. I'm sure she'll be along in the morning, when she's awake.

Well she’s a lioness obviously. Long enough ago I can’t remember but who’s counting.

anyway, dragon checking in, with Colin the dachshund in tow.

inkymoose · 19/04/2025 01:32

How nice to see you @ErrolTheDragon - the gerbils have lit the fire in the snug and they're keeping it in, as it's quite a chilly night - so Colin can settle down and sleep beside you while you drink whatever delicious thing takes your fancy.

Colin, Errol and the gerbils settling down ... is that SNOW around the fireplace? Well, now that's just silly. Get a grip, AI !

Hello Nice to see a fire, it's a cold damp morning. Tagging @SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius as requested so she can find us when she's back from her festivities.

Mugs of tea time.

DeanElderberry · 19/04/2025 07:17

(mugs of tea) time

rather than

mugs of (tea time)

Bing says to surprise it by asking for an image of something that does not exists, but when I ask it for something that does exist

a mug of tea and a teapot under a tea cosy on a table beside an opened bed with a black cat and a shorthair brown tabby cat curled up

this is its best guess

Morning all.

I seem to have been followed by the seagulls. Squawk squawk squawk all the bloody way.

Brains and Batshit have heard that there is unlimited food and have insisted on following me too. They're especially partial to bacon so could I have an side order of that with my full English, please?

DeanElderberry · 19/04/2025 07:26

To be fair to Bing, both the cats look right (it has really struggled with the concept of a 'tabby cat' in the past), and Rosy really is the one who would curl up under the covers. But 'tea cosy' is too much for it.

I'm still not sure that I should be training our alien overlords this way.

DeanElderberry · 19/04/2025 07:30

And two cups is not the same thing as a mug.

Hello Brains hello Batshit WHO'S the good dogs? Are YOU the good dogs? You ARE! You are! oh the good good dogs! And Colin! Colin's the good dog too! ALL the dogs are the good dog!

pssst, someone distract them with a bit more bacon, I've already been drooled over sufficiently by Oscar who was feeling very loving this morning.

Swashbuckled · 19/04/2025 07:45

Morning.

I’m here for the bacon butty and a mug of tea.

Horses safely stabled and still excited about their visit to an actual pub.

It’s windy out at sea. Don’t fancy moving from this fire.

And @FuzzyPuffling my jeans have arrived. Amazing fit, v comfy and LONG ENOUGH!

FuzzyPuffling · 19/04/2025 08:07

Ah @EdithStourton I am so pleased to hear that. Phew!!

Rosy and Spartacus made it to the new thread with me. We're a bit slow- it's like herding cats. And red pandas.

CautiousLurker01 · 19/04/2025 08:08

Wish this was a real place where I could meet some of you guys and buy a drink in real life - and give each of you a hug!

Off to London with hubs later for monthly date day so will toast you all with a huge cocktail!

DeanElderberry · 19/04/2025 08:09

Boily usually takes care of the Tunnocks, does she need any assistance?

The Bluestocking may be a bit of a figment, but we are all real people. This pleases me no end!

Uh, I’m a dragon. If I want to smoke I’ll find an unlit fireplace to sit in but I don’t have any need for tobacco.

An artificial ‘intelligence’ that depicts a teapot lid cosy rather than an actual tea cosy doesn't strike me as something we need to worry about much, unless someone is foolish enough to let it design anything beyond the digital realm.

The AIs also have a distressing tendency to put Colin in baskets which don’t have enough room for his magnificent full length. Unless they’re inset into the floor and he’s semi vertical.Confused

ah well. More tea…BrewBrew

Swashy appears to have acquired a stripey little chipmunk.

Magpiecomplex · 19/04/2025 09:14

Breadcrumb trail laid for @bannedontherun. Scrambled eggs, toast, hash browns and a slice of black pudding for me please. Properly cooked scrambled eggs, mind, just the right side of set and with plenty of unctuous butter on the toast.

You sure that's a cigar and not a cinnamon stick, looking at what's on the floor?
@ErrolTheDragon, how do you feel about cinnamon sticks?

Cinnamon with banana on toast or with cooked apple is lovely but it’s got to be powdered.
Cinnamon sticks are one of those things that look nice but become potential heirlooms rather than anything you’d actually eat, aren’t they? Unless it’s Xmas and we’re doing a cauldron of mulled wine.
