The Bluestocking - where women are women, and small furry animals are gerbils, quokkas, capybaras, or a red panda called Rosy

Welcome all to the Bluestocking Pub, a haven safe from harsh reality [mostly] full of good company, and excellent food and drink served by the most efficient team of gerbils in the hospitality industry.

And they're in the suffragette colours, Green White and Violet for Give Women Votes!

With a banner!

They look so splendid!
I've saved this one too xx

@DeanElderberry if you think platypus reproduction is bad, don't look up echidnas. Quite brings tears to the eyes...

I haven't done it myself personally, but human reproduction doesn't seem like a walk in the park either😧😃

I saw this (from The Language Nerds) on FB & thought of you, Marie.

All the best for today, @MyrtleLion .

EdithStourton · 11/04/2025 07:07

Good luck, Myrtle! Look out for the gerbils.

FuzzyPuffling · 11/04/2025 07:56

I love it when our AI musings (gerbiltastic!) collide with real life.
Good luck Myrtle.
Rosy will be here for a hug when it's all over.

I’m not really seeing the comparison unless it’s dtd in a holly thicketConfusedGrin.

Go! Go! Myrtle!

Igneococcus · 11/04/2025 08:17

Good luck Myrtle.
Look, even this silky anteater is crossing his claws.

Igneococcus · 11/04/2025 08:37

How long does it usually take to get a picture approved?

not long, IME.
obviously I’ve just done an image search for silky anteaters, I suppose from the wrong angle they might be misconstrued Confused

DeanElderberry · 11/04/2025 09:15

Bing can't do the right anteater, and when given the scientific name produced a dinosaur.

But it did send a friend over with a message for Myrtle

With 4 men at the same time, given the male echidna's endowments... 😳

DeanElderberry · 11/04/2025 09:20

They only have one don't they? it's the knobbles there are four of. As I understand it. But I realise the echidnas are shy and would rather we didn't pass remarks.

Magpiecomplex · 11/04/2025 09:23

I think they actually only use two at a time, but in that case they must be bifurcated (tetrafurcated?) enough to achieve that, I assume. I'm not going to ask Google for images, however. Most undignified.

MarieDeGournay · 11/04/2025 09:34

I really shouldn't be encouraging this topic🙄but I can't help myself...male snakes have two penises. Fancy, eh?Smile
Crocs and gators too I think.

You might be right there :)
So I'm going to use this picture instead, I mean, just how cute are these?

The image filter really doesn't seem to like your pictures!

It doesn't, I give up :(

MyrtleLion · 11/04/2025 10:00

Thanks @Igneococcus for trying!

The print centre emailed at 0811 to ask if I wanted colour (of course!) which made it £20, but I have picked up the printing! The recruiter texted to say that the client likes that I can start immediately - yay for unemployment?!?

My make up went on without a smudge. My hair is behaving itself.

I have gerbil and anteater pictures. My friend is meeting me afterwards and we're going to the restaurant by the river when I get back this evening.

I am ready!

Martina Navratilova once commented that British players have a habit in the middle of a game of realising they might win and picturing themselves holding the trophy instead of dealing with the ball currently coming at them over the net. I'm trying to deal with the ball, but I also know that I know my stuff and I might just get this job.

Magpiecomplex · 11/04/2025 10:13

Good luck Myrtle! I think I'm about to apply for a job. It would be an internal sideways and upwards move, so I have to hope I haven't pissed off senior management too much lately Wink

MyrtleLion · 11/04/2025 10:16

Good luck with it!

I downloaded the Merlin app and I heard a blue tit (fucking loud) and a robin!

MarieDeGournay · 11/04/2025 10:42

Let the Cheerbils know well in advance of your job app, Magpie, they'll need a lot of practice to get used to saying GIMME AN A! instead of GIMME A Y! after GIMME AN M!
It took them so long to learn their Myrtle cheer, bless😄

I love the ridiculousness of this community! I really feel as if there will be cheerleading gerbils outside my interview room.

And it's wonderful to have the support of all you wonderful strangers, cheering me on.

Thank you so much 💓
