He's an archivist, working at a university. No PhD, as counsel corrected himself earlier from calling him Dr to Mr Buttars. Presumably does no teaching or research.

Yes - he's an archivist. Involved in some academic-adjacent activities. He's published a wee bit in areas relating to archives. But not a member of academic staff as you would normally understand it.

So a dictionary definition become offensive if somebody you don't like uses it in relation to something you don't agree with, like a film title for example... that's a target-rich environment.

While we are all here I had a suggestion. On the Sandie Peggie threads there was a suggestion to send postcards of support to Sandie at her workplace so that she gained comfort from knowing she had backing, but also other people saw that.

I wonder if it is worth doing a similar thing here for the two film makers, and Shereen? From reading the bundle it is clear that Shereen, in particular, has been subject to really terrible treatment

Ah thank you - shame they didn't convey that to me. The courts system is not fit for purpose. The SP tribunal didn't allow access either. :-(

I think that's a great idea, @ThatPithySheep . I've net Shereen and she's just the most kind, thoughtful, intelligent woman. I can't believe she's been put through this.

So the collective noun for an adult human female, woman, can't be used, because it also describes adult human males. The term adult human female can't be used, because it's a dog whistle.

I do hope the judge is taking note of exactly which group of people is being erased here.
