Welcome all. Can the gerbils please ensure that all the Tunnocks products are safely stowed in the capacious larder, and perhaps the quokkas could be responsible for counting everyone onto the bus and back off at the new thread - many thanks!

Apple crumble Day seems to fall on 31st September. I'll mark it in my diary, that I got very cheaply for some reason.

I noticed BoobsofFire have been lighting up another thread.

Boiledbeetle · 19/03/2025 11:55

Apple crumble.... blghh can I celebrate a different crumble on the day?

<Goes off to find a recipe>

This is the new booknook. I was planning to start it today but realised that I can't be arsed at the moment.

I think it's linked to not hearing about the next steps of the role following my interview last week.

I did however hear back from the recruiter for a part time role in interested in. I sent her my application yesterday. She told me to add two sentences and submit my application via their website. So I did that.

Think I'll just flop in front of the TV in a bored fashion.

A TV blob-out sounds like a good idea, Myrtle, until the good news about jobs and the enthusiasm to make another book nook return, which I'm sure they willSmile

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 19/03/2025 13:18

I will join you in the TV veg-out, @MyrtleLion. I may work up the enthusiasm to do some knitting.

TV flop-out sounds like a great idea. I’d do it myself but sadly have to visit the endodontist today as I probably need a root canal. I am so sick of dental woes.

Boiledbeetle · 19/03/2025 13:51

I'm supposed to be sorting out which of my many, many cookbooks can go to the charity shop as my diet these days consists of bacon butties and chicken nuggets.

I think the vegetarian one can go on the to go pile, as I know I've never used that one!!!!

I'm sat here looking at a sea of books thinking I may join the rest of you in a TV veg out.

I'm certainly not up for doing what @Britinme is doing today!! Thoughts and prayers Brit thoughts and prayers x

We’ve just finished a round of house painting and new carpeting, need to start putting thing back. I want DH to do a cull of the big bookcase on the landing which is mostly occupied by books he brought from his parents house for, as far as I can tell, purely sentimental reasons - I can’t envision either of us reading them. I’ve got loads of books I want to read (or re-read) but very much out of the habit.

We had professional unpackers when we moved here nearly four years ago. They unpacked the books that were supposed to go to the charity shop and not the ones from the bookcase. I still haven't repacked them and unpacked the correct ones. They are in the garage, getting damp.

But I mostly read audiobooks (and new paperbacks on holiday), so it doesn't matter.

Oh poor you!Flowers

Boiledbeetle · 19/03/2025 15:36

Hurrah! I now have 65 cookery books bagged up to go to charity tomorrow and 15 left in the kitchen. That's much more manageable!

Now I shall go and try to get past the fifth episode of The Wheel of Time (it's been so long since I last tried to watch it that there are now three seasons instead of one and I had to rewatch the first four episodes.)

Britinme · 19/03/2025 15:57

I am currently sitting in the endodontist’s chair with a mouth going numb waiting for him to come back and start drilling. I can think of things I’d rather be doing.

Much comfort.
I LOATHE dental work.

I had a special dislike of a hygienist I used to see a few years ago. She always made sure it really hurt.

Does anyone remember the dentist in Little Shop of Horrors?
(Don't look it up till afterwards, @Britinme )

Bizarrely the only place in the world where I can completely relax every fibre of my body is a dentist's chair. I had to have a lot of dental work as a child and the needles into gums hurt a lot less if you are 100% relaxed. I just wish I could do it in other scenarios!

Good news! My 13yo nephew just finished the android he was making & he's sent it to us as a reinforcement. He said he'd like her back unscathed, though, because reasons.

Yesterday I was discussing dentist experiences with some friends, and we all agreed that it's the hygienist who hurts most😬

So you have learned how to transcend dental medication..Smile

Hand hold to Britinme, don't forget not to eat solids until your mouth is completely defrosted - I once started eating too soon and realised an hour or so later that I had bitten the inside of my cheeks - ouch!

android, those boobs look as if they were put on with an ice-cream scoopGrin

I’ve been known to nearly fall asleep in the dentists chair. Tbf it was about a week after giving birth with no pain relief and not a heck of a lot of sleep since. So having an abscess drained without anaesthetic with the pleasant burble of the dentist rather than the sound of the starving seagull I’d apparently brought home was positively relaxing.
