Welcome all. Can the gerbils please ensure that all the Tunnocks products are safely stowed in the capacious larder, and perhaps the quokkas could be responsible for counting everyone onto the bus and back off at the new thread - many thanks!

Fuzzy, you've just produced one of those statements which look like they've been randomly generated, when taken out of context:
I may have no womb, but I do have a very cosy burrow in the cliffs.
Grin

Swashbuckled · 29/03/2025 21:15

Option 2, surely!

EdithStourton · 29/03/2025 21:16

Tax man, or woman, I should have said.

FuzzyPuffling · 29/03/2025 21:16

When put like that Marie, it sounds a bit rude!

I wasn't going to say anything. Blush

MarieDeGournay · 29/03/2025 21:18

We're on page 40. We need to move to a new thread. Then the tax people will never find us!

DeanElderberry · 29/03/2025 21:18

pshaw!

The gerbils are employees of the Bluestocking.

The hoomans, puffling, magpie, lion, dachshund, cakes etc etc etc and the magnificent beetle are clients of the Bluestocking and have club membership.

Management and admin are handled by its excellent committee, splendid women who mange everything extremely well. They do not interfere with our enjoyment of the facilities and will be very grateful if we refrain from meddling with their systems. They think the gerbils serve quite well at keeping us a little distracted, They are unfazed by gerbil collective bargaining but quite keen that we don't start.

Rosy the red panda thinks we are her therapy support animals. The quokkas are doing an apprenticeship. The Capybaras enjoy the hot baths.

MarieDeGournay · 29/03/2025 21:20

Deano! Our saviour! That's brilliant.
But we still need a new thread. I can't think of a clever name for it - anybody feel more creative?

Not this evening. I'm blaming the gin, not my lack of aptitude.
And Deano has sorted it all out for us.

Swashbuckled · 29/03/2025 21:22

I like your angle @DeanElderberry

We are merely club members. We may have a passing interest in how things are run, but have no responsibility for it.

I’m feeling intrigued about the invisible female committee. And grateful. Good on them.

Swashbuckled · 29/03/2025 21:24

Something about consenting happy gerbils who are of no interest to HMRC?

MarieDeGournay · 29/03/2025 21:25

OK folks -I've thought of something. I'll do the new thread.

Swashbuckled · 29/03/2025 21:25

Yay!

Thank you ☺️

DeanElderberry · 29/03/2025 21:27

I feel I must add that the committee manage things, they don't mange them. They would be appalled at the thought of mange in the Bluestocking. Imagine trying to get all the staff, clients and hangers-on into medicinal baths, and all the towels hot-washed. Or burned.

Just as well we're moving on really.

Swashbuckled · 29/03/2025 21:31

This is awful!

I tried to do an AI of the gerbils packing everything into crates to take us to the new thread. It put the gerbils into crates instead!

It was too soon after the slavery question to be comfortable. I’m sorry for sharing, but a trauma shared…

MarieDeGournay · 29/03/2025 21:32

See y'all over at the new place, it's open for business nowSmile

EdithStourton · 29/03/2025 21:33

Swashy, they're about to leap for freedom.
Marie, we need a link to guide latecomers along the One True Path.

Boiledbeetle · 29/03/2025 21:34

I've arranged for a bus to pick the gerbils up at the conference centre and drop them off at the new thread

EdithStourton · 29/03/2025 21:35

x-post.

MarieDeGournay · 29/03/2025 21:36

So good they linked it twice😄

DeanElderberry · 29/03/2025 21:36

I wouldn't worry Swashy, tell them it's just meant to keep them safe during the move and their little gerbil brains will make that

safe

safe . . . . . sex

SEX!

leap again, it always does. They'll arrive happy if slightly rumpled. Just hope they've been eating their pills

Swashbuckled · 29/03/2025 21:36

AI is being difficult. But at least the gerbils are clearly keen to come with us.

MyrtleLion · 29/03/2025 21:37

Well, I had a conversation with the Gerbil Chief Negotiator and it turns out that they were very excited about the idea of a conference because it meant they could get together and chat and make new friends network. They love their work and meeting new women and other rodents. They spoke to the gerbils from the likes of the Staunch Ally, where they are expected to work 12 hour shifts and have to deal with mucky toilets and smelly farts all day and night! And were relieved at the great working conditions at the Bluestocking. Particularly the generous maternity leave, paid time off for wrangling baby (and teenage) gerbils and very flexible working. Which obviously we provided as standard (doh!)

They hadn't realised they only had to ask for lots of sand and parsley and we would provide it.

So I have brought in as much sand and parsley as I can for a random Saturday night and promised them all the sand and parsley they can possibly want on the next thread.

Apologies for worrying people, but I think it's all sorted out now.

We will have to host an annual Gerbil Conference but it will pay for itself because we will make a lot of money on the bar. All those lady gerbils love to let their hair down when they're away from their responsibilities.
