I want to meet other GC women in person

I've joined LWS
I've joined the WRN
I'm active in GC FB groups

But I've never been to any meet ups - possibly because I'm not in a city and the small towns near me don't seem to have any GC activity that I know of.

I'm not an activist but I would just like to hang out with other sex realists. How does one do this?!!

Do any of you meet people in real life?

I think if you haven't heard back from WRN, you should contact them and query this. Groups are volunteer run and there are times when co-ordinators have so much on that the admin may get a bit delayed.

I have sent an email with a picture of me canpaigning for Fair Play for Women. Hopefully that will be enough.

Going back to OP ie being able to meet up with so as to hang out locally rather than the odd system of WRN - and heaven help you if you have a VM email address.

I had had an idea but unfortunately with the restriction on DM isn't that useful at the moment but might be in the future.

Let's say there is some vaguely woman related event in a nearby large town or city eg this one Chester(*). And then post a message saying something like anyone else nearby thinking of going. Perhaps we could meet up. This is where not having DM is a problem, ie cant privately agree a meeting point and whether to be wearing suffragette ribbons or whatever.

Or even a local council meeting about public transport, the NHS?!

Although obiously if there is a LWS event nearby.

Does anyone know how long the DM system will be closed?

Not sure why the image shows 2-3 March it is actually Saturday 10 – Sunday 11 May 2025

Having said that about local LWS events, apart from the Nottingham one, they all seem to be in London this year. But appreciate the work involved in putting events on.

Hope the OP doesn't mind me hopping on to say I'd love to meet mumsnetters at a London LWS (spoiler alert: I'm not a woman, though I am married to one). You know you're getting close to the Reformers' tree when you start seeing purple and green.

Cyclists who gather online quite often end up meeting IRL. Once upon a time I did the end-to-end (Land's End to John O'Groats) and even talked a bunch of strangers into letting me stay with them as I made my way up north. I have a feeling if I did that now not all of them would be so welcoming if they knew I was witch-adjacent.

Here's another one that came up on my facebook feed.

Join us from 9am - 5pm in Derby on Saturday 10th May 2025 at an event to celebrate grassroots organisation and women’s movements arising from the uniquely female experience.

Not sure if this is a change or I read it wrong, but LWS is in Bristol on 13 April

Or maybe they list London as the default whilst working on getting to other locations.

Total derail: every time I see this thread title, I read it as 'I want to meet other GC women in prison'. Like, every bloody time!🙄

I also always read Surgery as Sorcery.
Can do better/must try harder at applying myself to my reading skills😊

I would love to meet other GC women anywhere - not prison, hopefully - but I live in a faraway place on the Celtic fringes so - unlikely.

Have fun when you manage to meet each otherSmile

elbowhammer · 17/04/2025 23:08

@MarieDeGournay😂😂😂

Not intending to go to prison but if I were, I’d definitely want to meet GC women there.

I wonder if more openly GC women will surface now after yesterday’s ruling. Have certainly observed a fair bit of the old reverse ferret action.

Glad there are lots around the U.K. - though you’d think there’d be something in London (well apart from the prisons!)!
