Here for your delight and delectation is the hostelry by, for, and about wise, intelligent, creative and kind women, their assorted avatars including (but not limited to) a remarkable beetle, an astute android, a wise cake, and an assembly of companion creatures and animal assistants.

Food and drink available in abundance, all with remarkable non-damaging qualities.

Males may congregate in the nearby Staunch Ally and sometimes visit the stableyard to view outdoor performances by the gerbil waitstaff (who need to be distracted after the moment after that terrible 'misunderstanding' about the meaning of safe sex).

last thread here if you need to know why the Quokkas need some extra cuddles, and why the Cabybaras are being particularly efficient just now

I've just noticed the postage is the same price as the nook! It's still cheap compared to many other kits but I'm going to think a bit.

MarieDeGournay · 03/03/2025 20:10

Delighted to hear the twins have arrived safely, Woley! Champagne all round at the Bluestocking😄

I buy from Temu which is much cheaper. There is a long delivery time but if you are buying other things you can get free postage. I always forget about delivery costs because DH pays for Prime.

Postage😡
I've just found, after looking for aaages, the item I want. It's light, flat [4xsmall plastic sheets of scale model slate roofing] and it costs £8.19.
The cost to send it to Ireland?
£29.71!
I got something heavier from the UK for about a fiver the other week. I think some companies just think of a figure and double it cos they don't want the bother of posting to the EU.
Frustrating.

Good luck with the booknooking, Cake - we're such a creative bunch here, aren't we? Turn our hands to anythingSmile

MyrtleLion · 03/03/2025 23:34

Is @Boiledbeetle ok? I haven't seen her on the thread for ages and I miss her xx

Agreed - I hope she is just has just found a nice damp log to rest under for a bit, and comes out and waves one of her <quickly google how many legs a beetle has> six legs at us soon. Smile

Swashbuckled · 04/03/2025 09:03

I have been wondering the same about @Boiledbeetle

Hope you’re okay, Boileybobs 😊

EdithStourton · 04/03/2025 09:31

@SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius congrats on the arrival of the twins.
I've just popped in for a quick glug of the champers. I've been too busy to be here much of late, but good to see that the place is up to scratch.

Lovely to see you here! I've included the full response from AI because it asked me who Edith Stourton was and what the Bluestocking atmosphere was like. I loved it's summary.

'The gerbil staff are present, serving drinks' - you have to hand it to AI, it's very accepting, I can't see a human being so yeah like whatevs about ..staff who are.. did you say, gerbils..? and they are wearing ...uniforms? and they're serving drinks?...to Lady Edith Stourton?....okaaaaaaay... <checks there's a clear route to the door>

AI just cheerfully says OK then here you are!

And the result is lovely, Myrtle, Lady Edith looks very serene and there are THREE devoted little gerbils just waiting to attend to her every need.
Or maybe they're wondering how the glass is hovering like that, but they obviously love Lady Edith so much I imagine that they are taking it as a miracle, and evidence of her saintlinessGrin

I hope you pop in more often EdithStourtonSmile

I love your interpretation.

I note that it's women actually serving the drinks while the gerbils wait on Edith Stourton.

Whose idea was it that gerbils would be staff?

Well, I am obviously just as youthful and beautiful as my picture. How could I not be? 😂😂

Getting a glass to float just above my hands is a newly-acquired skill that I have been working for some time. If anyone else would care to learn, I can run a class... (Mostly it involves instructing AI...)

I have a feeling that the gerbils descend from the gender addled grievance gerbils which caused AI to have a spelling meltdown months and months ago. I have a sweatshirt somewhere.

I think I might hang around in the hope of more champers.... Twas very tasty, despite my usual views on morning drinking...

DeanElderberry · 04/03/2025 14:54

Then there were grimbut gerbils, I never understood their antecedence but do remember the name.

OP posts:
ErrolTheDragon · 04/03/2025 14:56

That's the thing about Bluestocking champagne (etc) - you can imbibe with impunity at any time of day or night.

ErrolTheDragon · 04/03/2025 15:14

I can't remember how most of the animals came to be here, except I brought Colin along by accident years ago.

AsWithGlad · 04/03/2025 15:45

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 03/03/2025 17:24

Oh, and I am being Very Patient (honest) waiting for baby pictures - the twins arrived this afternoon!

Congratulations to all. I hope everyone is well.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 04/03/2025 17:06

They are all very well, thank you, @AsWithGlad - they didn’t get much sleep last night, but are so loved up that I don’t think they mind.

DDIL will be in hospital until the end of the week, I think.

Gebrils, please.
AI was quite insistent on that point.

DeanElderberry · 04/03/2025 18:02

I beg their padrons.

OP posts:
MarieDeGournay · 04/03/2025 18:12

Very funny, Deano, and your quick wit is actually time stamped: 'gebrils' at 18.01, 'padrons' at 18.02😂

MyrtleLion · 04/03/2025 21:28

At last!

The special delivery deliveries of a few absolutely tonnes of Tunnocks Tescakes have arrived at the Bluestocking!

Obviously this is a blatant attempt to lure @Boiledbeetle back to the pub, and supply her with treats if she's unwell or needs cheering up.

Do you think there are enough?

Shall I order more?

Roll up, Ladies and Gentlecreatures, the Bluestocking has been redecorated
Magpiecomplex · 04/03/2025 21:33

I think you should probably order the same amount again, just to be on the safe side.

Swashbuckled · 04/03/2025 21:33

That’s a very decent amount @MyrtleLion

But just in case @Boiledbeetle needs a few more….

Maybe she got lost in the Tunnocks mountains? She was last seen a week ago drilling the gerbils outside. Ferrets and goats were involved...
