Here for your delight and delectation is the hostelry by, for, and about wise, intelligent, creative and kind women, their assorted avatars including (but not limited to) a remarkable beetle, an astute android, a wise cake, and an assembly of companion creatures and animal assistants.

Food and drink available in abundance, all with remarkable non-damaging qualities.

Males may congregate in the nearby Staunch Ally and sometimes visit the stableyard to view outdoor performances by the gerbil waitstaff (who need to be distracted after the moment after that terrible 'misunderstanding' about the meaning of safe sex).

last thread here if you need to know why the Quokkas need some extra cuddles, and why the Cabybaras are being particularly efficient just now

I'd love to know the source for "reportedly owned by Harry Potter author JK Rowling".

If I say
“It’s owned by a consortium of Mumsnet posters”

you can then say that
the super yacht is reportedly owned by a consortium of people who post on Mumsnet

and use journalistic* privilege to keep your source secret.

(*You do identify as a journalist on Mondays, don’t you?)

AsWithGlad · 03/03/2025 14:22

How kind, @MyrtleLion , thank you.

ErrolTheDragon · 03/03/2025 15:11

If I'd legitimately earned vast amounts of money, doing something that provides pleasure, employment etc, but had acquired on the one hand a huge number of obsessive fans and on the other detractors some of whom send death threats etc, I'd probably think a yacht was a bloody good idea.

Though I'd have gone for a proper one with sails.

Well done, Myrtle!

I'm impressed you could get a female lion image! That's lovely xxx

Well, you mentioned your DH & it occurred to me that if I asked the AI for a lion AND a lioness, it would have to differentiate between them. It did!

Here are the others.

How marvellous that AI only knows what a female lion looks like in relation to a male lion 😂

I don't know why I typed Wednesday when it will be Friday.😂

Didn't get an interview for the interim position and there will be no feedback. It's disappointing but at least I'm not faced with getting that and losing the permanent role then having to job hunt again later this year.

Edited

There’s you, looking on the bright side: it does make sense, though.

Fingers crossed for Friday. 🤞

MarieDeGournay · 03/03/2025 16:36

I just looked up the Samsara, the only freely available info is that it is registered in the Cayman Islands, which doesn't sound very JKR, does it?😬
It'd be like handing ammo to the haterz...

And I agree with Errol, it should be proper one with sailsSmile

The irony wasn't lost on me, I assure you.🙄

You will have to appear in images accompanied by your husband at all times. What a great leap forward for women.

And he's a walrus, not even a lion...

ifIwerenotanandroid · 03/03/2025 16:55

Oh, & the middle of the 3 images has the male lion in a suit & the female fur-naked. A bit like a leonine version of Manet's Le Dejeuner sur l'Herbe. And more proof of AI's inherent misogyny.

I may have to go off for a private 5 minutes & ask the AI for some of those varrr French, varrrr 'andsome blokes it used to do for us, to get my own back on it...

Is he? I missed that somewhere in the general lunacy history of the Bluestocking. Well, he's Mr Lion to me. Anyway, let's see what the AI makes of... oh dear.

I also meant to say how blown away I was by the book-nooks. Do they really live on bookshelves among the volumes?

So... a gay walrus, then?😄

MyrtleLion · 03/03/2025 17:08

Thank you, and AI cannot understand that a female lion doesn't have a mane. I generally cheat and ask for a mountain lion.

The proper book nook does live in a bookshelf among the books and I have another bookcase which will hold the next models.

The original tiny street lives on top of the bookcase with the chocolate factory and Notre Dame cathedral. I have another shelf for older models.

I've found a book nook for £12 on amazon

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0CMX9J36D/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=AOD7X241S8XTY&th=1

For that price I think I can afford to dip my toe into nooky waters, so long as I manage my expectations.

Whaddaya think?

Speaking as a no-hoper, go for it! But Myrtle may have more advice.

I’ve always thought a yacht would be very useful in the event of a zombie apocalypse. I assume they can’t swim, so we could stay safe on board. Actually, maybe a small cruise ship would be better - it ought to have a good stock of food and its own sick bay. And a swimming pool and the makings for cocktails (vital for surviving a zombie apocalypse).

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 03/03/2025 17:24

Oh, and I am being Very Patient (honest) waiting for baby pictures - the twins arrived this afternoon!

So I've been looking up the meaning of Samsara. There's a high-tech company by that name, and a perfume. But the Buddhist meaning of Samsara was what I wanted.

"Buddhists conceive of the world as a suffering-laden cycle of life, death, and rebirth, without beginning or end, known as samsara. Beings are driven from life to life in this system by karma, which is activated by their good or ill actions committed in this life as well as previous lives. Liberation from samsara is the raison d’être of Buddhism, and thus, in a sense, every resource in the Oxford Bibliographies Online for Buddhism could be said to relate to this entry. In the earliest conceptions, samsara seems to have had five distinct realms: hells, hungry ghosts, animals, humans, and heavens."

(from Saṃsāra and Rebirth - Jeff Wilson in Oxford Bibliographies online

So IF the boat does belong to JKR, she would be fully aware of the meaning.

I agree. You'll definitely need some glue, probably UHU all-purpose because that sticks plastic to fabric and wood. I also use Gorilla wood glue to stick wood and paper together but it takes longer to set.

You'll also need two AAA batteries for the lighting and it may give you the option to add a musical box component which will have to be bought separately. I never bother with the music box.

You can cut the bits of paper out with scissors, but I prefer a scalpel and a metal ruler and I also bought a cutting board and tweezers, though one kit did have tweezers included.

DH provided a spare scalpel (Stanley knife/box cutter may do the job just as well), and he's just given me the magnifier and tweezers from a soldering kit (attached - the white lines are reflected light).

Scissors, glue, batteries are a minimum. Everything else is optional.

I hope you enjoy it.

I’ve been away for a long weekend; big family party and overnight stays etc. I imbibed far more than I am accustomed to and am still a little fragile.

Good to be back in the Blue Stocking!

Finger crossed for Friday @MyrtleLion

Congratulations @SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius
