Roll up, Ladies and Gentlecreatures, the Bluestocking has been redecorated

Here for your delight and delectation is the hostelry by, for, and about wise, intelligent, creative and kind women, their assorted avatars including (but not limited to) a remarkable beetle, an astute android, a wise cake, and an assembly of companion creatures and animal assistants.

Food and drink available in abundance, all with remarkable non-damaging qualities.

Males may congregate in the nearby Staunch Ally and sometimes visit the stableyard to view outdoor performances by the gerbil waitstaff (who need to be distracted after the moment after that terrible 'misunderstanding' about the meaning of safe sex).

last thread here if you need to know why the Quokkas need some extra cuddles, and why the Cabybaras are being particularly efficient just now

I wonder if we need to resist lighting the fires in The Blue Stocking with all that chocolate about…..

Britinme · 04/03/2025 21:55

Nah - we just have to eat the chocolate faster before it melts.

ErrolTheDragon · 04/03/2025 22:03

It's fine, the magic of the Bluestocking ensures chocolate only melts when and where you want it to.

Swashbuckled · 04/03/2025 22:05

@ErrolTheDragon

Phew; crisis averted!

Melted Tunnocks in a pint pot could be alright….

Magpiecomplex · 04/03/2025 22:15

AI does have a habit of delivering mugs of liquid chocolate when asked for hot chocolate, @Swashbuckled, so melted Tunnocks would be entirely in keeping!

lcakethereforeIam · 04/03/2025 22:53

Wonder if you can wrap a Tunnocks in a pancake?

I'm sure you can; the question is whether you should. This seems like something that would best be determined by experiment.

I've just been discussing the upcoming Lenten scripture readings for next Sunday with @FuzzyPuffling. I'm sure when the psalmist talks about trampling down the lion and dragon s/he doesn't mean anyone in the Bluestocking . . .

I do hope not Deano. We don't want any tramplings here. ( I'm not clearing up - it would require more jet washing, and we all know how I feel about that)

I quite like jet washing, though obvs I have to keep my skirts out of the way.

But I don't like tramplings. A bit, well, Dark Ages for my taste.

DeanElderberry · 05/03/2025 14:01

Much older than the dark ages. More Babylonian captivity. Hopping with lions and dragons, ancient Babylon.

You can try trampling down this lion, but I wouldn't recommend it.

FuzzyPuffling · 05/03/2025 15:59

Nope, definitely not risking that, Myrtle .

We went to the NMA yesterday and there was a fabulous turtle. I wanted it to be called "Myrtle the Turtle". It wasn't. It's called "Friday".

Nor dragons.
Even tiny ones are spiky to trample, worse than sticklebricks.

I don't think that psalmist had personally met any lions or dragons tbh.

I now really want to see a gerbil using a pressure washer...
I'm off for a word with my AI. Back soon.

Now that you've said it, I've just realised I should have been MyrtleTheTurtle...

BTW Boily has been on TwiX in the last few days, so maybe she's just very busy drilling the gerbils and the smell of Tunnocks hasn't reached her yet...

Magpiecomplex · 05/03/2025 18:09

This appears to be the French version, looking at the pub name, but close enough!

Hope Boily's doing something she's enjoying so much she has no time to come here.

OP posts:
FuzzyPuffling · 05/03/2025 18:10

The power of that jet washer has levitated the Gerbil. No wonder she looks a bit nonplussed.

Magpiecomplex · 05/03/2025 18:11

I was trying to get the gerbil whizzing round the garden in the manner of a deflating balloon, and that's the best AI could manage!

EdithStourton · 05/03/2025 18:15

We'd better watch out this summer, or the gardens will be battered by constant jets of water because the gerbils enjoy the jet washers so much.
Our water bill will go through the roof.

So what you're saying is that dragons are the Lego of the mythical creature world? Excruciatingly painful to step on. Makes sense.

Lego and sticklebricks are different.
IM (extensive) E, sticklebricks hurt less.
I suspect slightly older dragons are more Lego-ey.

FuzzyPuffling · 05/03/2025 19:47

See, I would have said a Sticklebrick experience was worse. Fewer corners, more spiky bits.

AsWithGlad · 05/03/2025 19:49

However, the stickles/spikes on Sticklebricks are fine and soft, and deform when you step on them.

In contrast Lego is very hard, with unyielding edges.
