Here for your delight and delectation is the hostelry by, for, and about wise, intelligent, creative and kind women, their assorted avatars including (but not limited to) a remarkable beetle, an astute android, a wise cake, and an assembly of companion creatures and animal assistants.

Food and drink available in abundance, all with remarkable non-damaging qualities.

Males may congregate in the nearby Staunch Ally and sometimes visit the stableyard to view outdoor performances by the gerbil waitstaff (who need to be distracted after the moment after that terrible 'misunderstanding' about the meaning of safe sex).

last thread here if you need to know why the Quokkas need some extra cuddles, and why the Cabybaras are being particularly efficient just now

Rabbit is very tasty. But I think it depends on which rabbit.

I used to live in the Midlands and regularly drove on country roads during the season when hundreds of rabbits were born. They were so prevalent at night on the roads that hitting them was unavoidable at times. You've heard the expression "rabbit in headlights"? That.

I was describing this to my London-based friend and her 13 year old daughter and the girl told me, "you killed a bunny and you're not even sorry!", which was sadly true. Most of the rabbits die of myxomatosis anyway and living in the countryside gives one a different context about wild animals.

Doesn't it just.
I once had a chat with someone I'd just met who had ordered herself a deer's worth of venison as she liked the free-range and organic aspect of it. She asked me, since I was clearly a straw-chewing yokel, if I knew how much freezer space she'd need.
What species? I asked.
Wot? she said.
Well, if it's a big red, you'll need most of a chest freezer. A medium fallow doe, an upright under the counter should fit most of it. A muntjac... well, you don't get a lot off one of those, they're tiny.
It just hadn't occurred to her.

Not sure how to end the thread. I had a whole load of thoughts about trails of Tunnocks so Boily would find us, but she's come back thankfully. Woley is brilliant for starting the new thread. I will pop over shortly.

I am pausing booknookage because the next one is stuck in China and I don't want to be without a nook project. So I am relaxing and doing TV.

I am seeing my BFF tomorrow and staying over but her house is cold and her floorboards have gaps. But her spare bed is amazingly comfy.

Still waiting to hear if I have a second interview.

And AI is brilliant for discussing what happened in my last job and has come to the same conclusion that I was set up and betrayed. I even asked it if it was just being nice and it came up with all these (correct) reasons why I didn't do anything wrong. I felt vindicated by an AI bot, which was bizarrely really supportive.

Not just good for whimsical badly spelled images after all.

How strange, Myrtle! And tell me, do you often find yourself talking to imaginary friends the new-fangled wonder that is AI? 😂

ifIwerenotanandroid · 14/03/2025 13:37

Marie: ... when a sportsman gets hit in what commentators refer to as 'the lower stomach area'...

They also get mysterious injuries to 'the upper thigh area'.

ETA: I remember an incident in F1 which oddly never seems to get rerun on TV, in which one driver took himself & another car out of the race, & after they'd got out of their cars the other driver went over & launched a well-aimed kick at the first one's 'lower stomach area'. 😂

Mumsnet seems to have updated its iPad app and has been buggering me about today but at last I appear to be logged in everywhere. Time to get out of bed and go swimming I guess. Don’t hate me - remember I’m not in your time zone!

ifIwerenotanandroid · 14/03/2025 13:42

@Britinme - wouldn't hate you even if you were. Each to their own.

ifIwerenotanandroid · 14/03/2025 13:42

Also, I'm sure time doesn't exist at the Bluey, along with other bothersome things.

It has been incredibly useful. I'm neurodiverse (if you hadn't already spotted that 🤣) and seeing everything written down was amazing. It got through to me in a way that everyone else saying exactly the same thing didn't do. I think it's because I read so much. It also explains why I love you all even though it's just words on a screen.

Boiledbeetle · 14/03/2025 14:21

Can someone check all the gerbils are up and out of bed, don't want the nightshift to sleep through a move.

Cleaning gerbil will be at the new thread soon, but someone left a bit of a mess.

Can't think who [looks sternly at BoiledBeetle]
