The Blue Stockings Society was founded by women emphasising education and mutual cooperation. Men could attend as invited guests, but in this Women's Pub, they are only welcome to peer enviously through the windows.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Stockings_Society

All women welcome!

All tastes catered for.

All food containing calories will not increase waistlines.

All drink containing alcohol will not intoxicate beyond the mildy merry and slightly inhibited stage. Guaranteed no hangovers.

Don't mind the gerbils, hamster, capybaras, quokkas and other assorted rodents. They're all female, all staff and very accommodating...

Will this do?

Perfect! Thanks Myrtle.
I hope no one is expecting me to share 😎

But you'd have to consider whether it's harder to clean a drain than a long haired dachshund.
I've only had smooth haired, the first one was a two person job to bath during which we all got soaked.

Oh, well it wouldn't be my dachshund, so I'm not bothered how you clean it. Drains cleaned, pass soggy doggy back to owner. Job done. 😂

😁 Just go back from doing the weekly shop at Tesco and fella got misgendered by one of the blokes that works there. He called us ladies 🤣 We all had a good chuckle and agreed it was a minefield.

When we got back to the car I told fella he was now supposed to film a mad-angry-cry™️, in the car and post it on tiktok. We're also, I suppose, meant to twiX Tesco to complain about aforesaid misgendering for..?..free..?..clothes..? (I'm not too sure about this bit). But the bloke was lovely, obviously very busy and distracted and we don't want to get him in trouble. We also, neither of us, are on X(formally known as Twitter (X in a dinner jacket)) or tiktok.

Would we BU not to bother?

Only do this if you want to look like a total knob.

Hey, Fuzzy I don't make the rules up. But glad you agree it would be a twatty thing to do and, tbh, I've only seen twatty folx doing it. He should also need to get his septum pierced, prior to filming the tiktok and dye his hair blue. Ideally the blue dye should also be faded and growing out. I can't see him going for it. So, I think it's best to forget the whole thing.

I think a ferret was used to lay the wires for filming the coronation of the late Queen. If they'd used a stoat it could, if it had agreed to behave itself, later played a bit part on one of the robes.

I think he would also need a very faded black hoodie with the logo of a long- forgotten amateur band on it.

Can't be sure as I'm not on TwiX or tiktok!

FuzzyPuffling · 31/01/2025 18:56

Who could the stoat have bitten?
Answers on a postcard.....

It was for the wedding of Charles and Diana, apparently. And ferrets, plural.

FuzzyPuffling · 31/01/2025 19:55

Hey Cher, how are you doing?

FuzzyPuffling · 31/01/2025 19:55

Hey Cher, how are you doing?

OK, thanks. The medics are happy with the progress of the wound. X rays in 3 weeks' time, I should think.

In less good news, I've had to order a black dress.

DeanElderberry · 31/01/2025 20:24

Sorry about that Cher.

FuzzyPuffling · 31/01/2025 20:26

Good about the hip, not good about needing mourning wear. I'm sorry.

Bannedontherun · 31/01/2025 20:27

Sorry cher

Chersfrozenface · 31/01/2025 20:40

Thank you, Stockingers. We knew it was coming but it provokes a mixture of feelings.

It doesn't help that it follows a whole series of shocks and losses in my family and among my friends.

But at least I have the Bluestocking, its regulars, drinks menu, menagerie and pastimes. A real refuge.

MyrtleLion · 31/01/2025 20:54

The gerbils have got you covered, Cher.

Gerbils! Get Cher a good restorative drink, Spartipuss for her lap and a soothing quokka.

Peace and love to.you Cher

FuzzyPuffling · 31/01/2025 20:55

Beat me to it, Myrtle. Good work!

Spartipuss and a quokka are such good ideas though. More comfort for Cher.

Thank you. Although Spartipuss does seem to have designs on my hot chocolate.

lcakethereforeIam · 31/01/2025 21:07

There's a squishy chair with a footstool and a cosy throw by the fire, if you like. You should be able to see out the window at the willow pond. It's been lit up and looks beautiful.

We got annoyed by this- lots of rich or posh people. Not an ordinary garden in the whole hour. GW and its spin offs are so elitist.

FuzzyPuffling · 31/01/2025 21:18

Apropos of nothing, I got some reading glasses from Amazon yesterday. 3 pairs plus a pair of reading sunglasses for just over a tenner. They are blooming amazing.

Bannedontherun · 31/01/2025 21:26

Good point fuzzy. Am currently cutting back a few hours a day so it foes look a bit naked at the moment. Looked at some summer pics i took to cheer myself up.
