What would a 16th/17th century Frenchwoman do with a car, I wonder? Let alone several cars.

From my 5'1" perspective, I think Puffling is on the wrong track. Surely the taller members of the sisterhood can, and should, choose partners of the same or shorter heights not necessarily always taller?

You'd look like a tall woman wearing heels - why minimise that? It's part of the pernicious nature of gender stereotypes, I think, that the real biological facts of the bimodal distribution of women and men's heights can lead to odd ideas that men 'should' be taller than women on an individual level iyswim?

Otoh on heels, I can't wear them now because my big toes don't bend enough now. I was thinking yesterday maybe I'd better look for some chunky boots...it's not that I particularly want to look taller but I was at the theatre and my feet didn't reach the floor!

I can and do wear heels, although they need to be fairly sturdy - I teeter in stilettos over about an inch tall. I go for statuesque, since I can't manage willowy either.

I wonder if one could have husband offsetting, in the same manner as carbon offsetting? 🤔

I was thinking you'd just pay someone to look after the extra height beyond the +5" allocation. If you're careful about it, you could give someone else the feet end, then the stinky socks wouldn't be your problem any more.

You could of course pay HIM to look after the excess height.

I’m with you on sex, @Bannedontherun - I think it was Boy George who said he’d rather have a nice cup of tea - we’ll, I’m no tea drinker, but make mine a coffee, and he is spot on.

My first boyfriend was 6’4” - I had to stand two steps up on the staircase to kiss him - I’m about 5’5”. But dh is not quite 6’ tall, and he suits me perfectly.
