Newly renovated, beautifully appointed. Food and Beverages, excellent (if sometimes unexpected service), delightful clientele, special accommodation for invalids, pedants, readers and normal people.

Alas, Gemini doesn't seem to be in a bucolic mood today.

First kitten looks very sad at being shut out of the pub.
Second one is Giant Spartipuss. Good work!

FuzzyPuffling · 18/01/2025 15:26

Also, it's great roof insulation.

ErrolTheDragon · 18/01/2025 15:50

I don't remember the particular episode of Woley mentioned, but I did enjoy The Goodies.

The 57 was fluffball dogs not ermine, wasn't it? So the expected allegernicity can be estimated by extrapolation from one fluffball dog.

And stops birds from tap dancing on it. I sometimes get woken up earlier than I'd wish by birds rehearsing their routines.Hmm

MyrtleLion · 18/01/2025 17:05

And frolicking!

I was remembering when I had a dear little kitten. Five years ago, just before Covid, adorable tiny little fluffy black furball that could sit on my outstretched hand. And she vanished, can't imagine where. I asked Rosy and she just gazed at me as if I was an idiot.

I get woken up by the pigeons practicing parkour on the Sky dish, which is bolted to the outside of the wall almost directly next to my head. It's quite disconcerting listening to the metallic clanking noises.

Bannedontherun · 18/01/2025 17:45

I am so effing bored…… went out last night, pub followed by a lovely meal with friends great time.

Could not be arsed to do anything today, maybe hedgehogs are lethargic in the winter,

Anyway that is my exciting contribution in the pub

Gin please …….

FuzzyPuffling · 18/01/2025 17:47

I'm a bit bored too Banned. Looking after sickly DH is knackering me.

Lethargic? You should be hibernating in a state of torpor.

Downside is you shouldn't be eating and drinking.

Bannedontherun · 18/01/2025 17:57

I thought I hyper hibernated, got up every now and then to get some food, and drink, i am small, maybe i should go back to sleep after my gin….?

Bannedontherun · 18/01/2025 17:59

Forgot to say i want a cat but can not bare losing one again. Thought about a smaller pet like a hamster as i could take them with me on my boat… any thoughts?

FuzzyPuffling · 18/01/2025 18:12

My son lives on his boat with his cat, who seems to thoroughly enjoy the life. He's 17. The cat. Not the son.

ErrolTheDragon · 18/01/2025 18:16

I feel that way about dogs - we'd love another but our second one broke my heart (and didn't do my back much good when he had to be carried up and down stairs).

And we're planning lots of travel when I retire - some in the U.K. would be dog friendly but much wouldn't - it's hard to do things spontaneously if you don't have eg a local family member who can take care of a pet.

I feel that the appropriate small pet for a boater is a white rat.

Bannedontherun · 18/01/2025 18:41

Oooo a white rat

@DeanElderberry
Does that mean you have seasons 5, 6 and 7 of Enterprise with Shran and Soval on the bridge? And the real final episode of season 4, without dead babies and dead Trip, and decrepit Troi and Riker?

I’m not sure. Can someone send a gerbil to check, or would going in that library be too distracting for them and we’d never see them again?

Someone tell me when they've found those missing series please. Oh, and all the rest of Firefly after the first series and film.

AsWithGlad · 18/01/2025 20:00

Might a small white rat on a boat be too confused if it goes to sleep in one place and wakes up somewhere completely different?

I often think this must be similar for babies, especially when they are developing some sort of sense of object permanence.

ErrolTheDragon · 18/01/2025 20:06

I suspect rats are more intelligent than small babies tbh.
Dogs aren't confused by boat travel, or cars for that matter so I don't see why a rat would be,.

Confused by cars? They bloody drive them.

Rat in little plastic car

Rats taught to drive tiny cars to lower their stress levels

Researchers taught rats to drive tiny "ratmobiles" in exchange for food, which helped the rats relax.
