Newly renovated, beautifully appointed. Food and Beverages, excellent (if sometimes unexpected service), delightful clientele, special accommodation for invalids, pedants, readers and normal people.

I'm glad I'm not a quokka. Mating one day after giving birth?!

Always with the reality, huh?😡
Wink

Magpiecomplex · 16/01/2025 18:58

Sorry Marie! Possibly my views are coloured by having had only C-sections. I could barely move, one day after giving birth, let alone anything more exciting!

FuzzyPuffling · 16/01/2025 19:29

I had my children, had a cup of tea, got up and carried on. I sound like a Victorian slum-dweller, or a quokka, but that's how it was!

MyrtleLion · 16/01/2025 23:12

Went to the talk. It was fab! Author signed my book! Was very interesting with brilliant anecdotes. Met lots of brilliant people. There was cheese and cold meats.

And the person I wanted to avoid didn't turn up!

Also I had wine. It was like the gerbils at the Bluestocking! Hot and cold running glass filling up service. I would have a sip and my glass would be topped up.

Unlike the Bluestocking the wine had alcohol in it! (I know!! Who knew?!) But it was very good to get out as I knew it probably would be.

Great news, Myrtle, sounds like it was all worth the effort. Smile

Are you sure you had a cup of tea, @FuzzyPuffling?? I don't remember that option. Oh wait, I'd forgotten about gazing adoringly at Daddy Moose for a minute after Baby appeared and then ... well, he must have guzzled MY tea!

So glad it went well,@MyrtleLion. Sounds most civilised.

Edited

Mmm ok, it was probably coffee. And a three pack of Marathons (true) one after the other.

(I am hard-core and had no pain relief for any of them, as my daughters like to remind me- before cataract op, DD1 " You can do this, you've had 3 children with no pain relief". Not sure if they are impressed or horrified!)

But Babymoose is very cute indeed.

ErrolTheDragon · 17/01/2025 08:19

Sounds great, Myrtle, so glad you went! It's too easy for inertia and vague feelings of dread about certain social events to take hold. I'm going to have to remind myself of that a lot - going to retire this year so I really need to get out of my comfortable but not very social rut somehow.

MarieDeGournay · 17/01/2025 10:16

The only good thing about inertia is that women called Saoirse can use it to explain how to pronounce their name - it rhymes with it😄

I am going to a party tonight. I'm quite the gadabout.

France: Joy as wild boar facing death allowed to stay with owner
Champagne all round at the Bluestocking to celebrate thisSmile
In case some of the placenames in the article sound familiar - yes, Chaource is in the Champagne area, it is also a yummy soft cheese; and the boar's name, Rillette[s], is a pâté made of minced pork!!

Magpiecomplex · 17/01/2025 18:13

My usual please bar gerbil. I've been unusually active today and every muscle I own is now complaining about it!

Magpiecomplex · 17/01/2025 18:15

I am aware of a pig named Serrano. It's definitely not a pig which will ever get turned into ham, so it's just the namer's sense of humour.

ErrolTheDragon · 17/01/2025 18:18

Rillette is very clearly not a wild boar, she seems very civilised!

Yes, so long as she accepts that the gerbils and other small rodents are friends not food.

Fair point. How about 57?
