Another local authority - Bracknell Forest Borough Council.

'My name is Sarah Holman and I believe single sex facilities are vital for women and that you can’t change sex. I believe I have been discriminated against for having these views.'

It's on crowdjustice.

Hi Melody
I’m Sarah Holman (sartay on here and Twitter)

Yes it’s going to be tough going, but I had a number of pieces of evidence to back my claim of harassment.

For example the images on offer for use in virtual meeting backgrounds contained 13 Progress pride flags images to choose from and none for any other protected characteristic.

The Executive Director specifically sent out an email expressing strong support of the pride progress flag due to “a complaint” (mine) and how disappointed he was that a staff member dared complain. 🤐

The senior leadership, HR and Equalities manager, then kept the flag on as their backgrounds for all of July and some of August - well after pride June pride month. The only conclusion to reach is that (allegedly) this was a decision that they made and colluded to keep the flag on teams background.

It's infuriating, really don't know what goes on in these people's minds.

Good luck, and glad you found the thread and that your appeal is close to its target!

Read with interest. The council likened mixed-sex toilets to people of different sexes being together in lifts or in meetings! - bit of a stretch.

I work in a public sector organisation and I'm very relieved that - at present anyway - all this nonsense isn't really on the radar. A few pronouns-in-signatures and that's it, mostly.

er, what? I dont get my cock out in lifts. Not these days anyway.

Boiledbeetle · 16/11/2024 07:18

£370 left to raise.

I haven’t pee’d in a lift either. Although the lift and stairwell at my local multi-story car park does smell as if someone has. Maybe that’s where Bracknell Forest Council got their inspiration from? 😀

Almost there! Aim is the get the pledges to lawyers asap and the tribunal will go in before deadline of next Thursday. 🤞

Sartay · 16/11/2024 10:21

@Catiette I’m sorry you had to go through this. ❤️. Unless you are a woman you can’t understand the precautions all women take everyday to remain safe, walking home late at night whilst holding you keys in you hand ‘just in case” that man walking behind you is up to no good, crossing the road. Or things we put up with, men invading personal space or worse. Trying not to catch someone’s eye…the list is endless.

bigdecisionstomake · 16/11/2024 13:22

Anyone who watched the CCTV of Jordan McSweeney following several women (some of whom hid to get away from him) before he went on to brutally murder Zara Aleena - just because he could - will know how important it is for women to be alert to the men around them, particularly when vulnerable. Having a sex segregated space to toilet (and all that entails for women) is therefore vital.

DisappearingGirl · 16/11/2024 13:42

Donated.

I know Lizzy Pitt's case with the gender fluid dachshund made the news because it was so ridiculous.

Maybe there could be a similar headline here. "Female council workers offered counselling for not wanting to share toilets with males" ...

Or "toilets are the same as lifts, say Bracknell Council!"

I just looked and it's going really well. Love the latest message - it's the 'be strong, Sarah' line from Terminator! Very appropriate.

We'll get you over the first line soon, @Sartay Smile And then it's on to the big push.

Full statement on fundraiser from @Sartay 16/11/24:

"Funds for Employment Tribunal - Initial target met!

Firstly, I'd like to thank everybody so much for your support, the fund has met its initial target because of the generosity of you all. I can now get the employment tribunal prepared and submitted this coming week. I am truly grateful.

I am pursuing this claim against my ex-employer to highlight the treatment of public sector workers who raise the importance of women’s rights at work. We should not be faced with a situation where women’s rights, protected under the Equality Act, are being taken away to appease another group, without thought or consideration for women. This case is yet another example of where female employees working in the public sector are being silenced for speaking out on these issues.

The next stage, after the claim is accepted, is to prepare the case up to a Preliminary Hearing stage

I would be so grateful if you could continue to share and donate where you are able, and that you do so in the context of the case being for the benefit of all women and especially those working in the public sector. "

So on we go!

New target figure £23000 amount raised so far £6010 so 26% of target.
