A.... balloon?

Neither a graph nor a dragon, anyway.

AI is having a moment again. Trying to get a colouring book style image of a dragon for junior offspring to try out paint schemes on, and I got this...

Maybe it's a highly stylised depiction of a dragon with its head stuck in a black coal scuttle?Confused

DeanElderberry · 16/11/2024 17:50

I would be prepared to accept that as a curled up asleep black dragon in a fog, but have to admit there is no raised wing. Bad, lazy AI.

As a thank you for ordering the books, here are some dragons to colour in.

Looking around at that picture of the book-filled snug while I'm reading my birthday-present-to-myself, the latest Donna Andrews Meg Langslow book, prompted me to look at earlier titles. I know one person's enjoyable comfort reads is another person's ghastly unreadable dross, but surely a series that includes: Murder with Puffins, The Hen of the Baskervilles, Duck the Halls, Gone Gull, Toucan Keep a Secret and the Gift of the Magpie deserves a place on the shelves? Then I could just move in and never leave.

Meanwhile, I live in hope that evilAmazon will deliver Rockin' Around the Chickadee in time for Christmas.

Between a Flock and a Hard Place, my current read, features feral turkeys. Real troublemakers, feral turkeys, I think the Bluestocking would be better without them.

I was once mugged by a turkey.

I was at one of those animal and bird parks that charge you a fortune for little bags of feed for the exhibits. I was crouching down feeding some small creature when a turkey galloped over and shoulder charged me so that I lost my balance and fell sideways. As I fell, the blighter grabbed the bag with its beak and ran off.

I've not done any colouring in since childhood, but now I'm regretting having no means of printing out the sea dragon.

I assume it's like angler fish...

There must still be free image editors?

I don't think colouring in on a screen would be the same experience as using pencils - it's a printer I lack at the moment.

ifIwerenotanandroid · 16/11/2024 19:12

I got that you had no printer. Staples (do they still exist?) or print shops should print a file for you, if you're desperate.

Btw, is anyone else taken with the Usborne magic painting books? I remember how rubbish those sort of books were in my childhood, but the Usborne ones are rather good (excellent brush, too).

The main character's zoologist grandfather has just explained (approvingly) that turkeys are descendants of velociraptors. You had a lucky escape. I repeat my plea for no turkeys at the Bluestocking (unless sliced and confined in sandwiches).

Boiledbeetle · 16/11/2024 21:24

Just having a quick catch up with my mate Tracy. Don't usually see her this time of year as she's usually in hiding from mid October. Do I tell her those veggie burgers she's eating are actually turkey burgers?? Especially as this is her second one as the first one "tasted amazing" or let her live in blissful ignorance?

@Boiledbeetle would you like to come for tea with me like we did last autumn? I've got a couple of photos to remind you…

Oh hello there, inkymoose, a post, at last! I was beginning to think everybody e had suddenly turned strict sabbatarian.Smile
Hope everyone's weekend has been good, get the winter woollies ready for next week...

inkymoose · 17/11/2024 22:38

Hello Marie! Would you care to join Boily and me for tea? Perhaps a sojourn in the city, with you in disguise as a schoolmarmish Mrs Doubtfire, or maybe a small rural town would suit you better, in your new green suit?

I think quite a few of us have been hanging out in the queer garden arguing about gardens relationship to art.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 18/11/2024 09:25

It is freeeeezzzzing here, so I have a nice, warm cardigan on, and dh is having to de-ice the car before driving me to knitting group.

I was slightly hoping for snow this week, but there is a massive void in the yellow warnings, across central Scotland, so little hope of snow for Wolefs.

MarieDeGournay · 18/11/2024 09:51

That's very kind of you inkymoose, and I'll overlook the fact that you get two cups and I get no saucerSmile
I like the green outfit best, though why I'm wearing that wig I'll never know...
But I do know what we're saying to each other
'Oh ignore Boily, she's just attention-seeking by dancing on the table like that'.
Or maybe she's saying 'What's she doing here, Inky, three's a crowd!' through the medium of modern danceGrin

Ah yes, I was there myself, finding myself half-agreeing with nearly everyone!
Nice contribution from Deano of this parish, summed it up eloquentlySmile

ifIwerenotanandroid · 18/11/2024 10:13

Lovely images, Inky! Does anyone have a link to the gardens thread?

Down here on the sunny south coast, it should be raining but it's just vaguely damp. I'm sitting here in a T-shirt & a cotton skirt, enjoying the lack of scaffolding outside the window & wondering when it'll be cold enough to wear the scarves I've crocheted & the new jeans I bought.

OP posts:
ErrolTheDragon · 18/11/2024 10:44

Cold here - the grass was frosted but there's still a few cosmos hanging on and I've just brought in the last sweet pea which has a hint of fragrance.
