Convicted sex offender Isla Bryson has branded the Harry Potter author “pathetic” and backed under-fire Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre for employing a trans-identifying man as CEO.

Why are they giving that vile man the attention he clearly craves?

Sarah2891 · 03/11/2024 13:18

They really shouldn't publish anything this vile man has to say

Edit- to the poster above, snap!

Helleofabore · 03/11/2024 13:23

I am sure that JK Rowling feels suitably disappointed by this criticism. I am sure she plans to never write again because of it.

YesterdaysFuture · 03/11/2024 13:29

Do other double rapists get their opinions printed in the press? Why is this rapist receiving any media attention? If he didn't claim a trans identity would the media bother reporting his comments?

Shameful for any media organisation to report on his views and comments.

TickingAlongNicely · 03/11/2024 13:32

It doesn't matter what "side" you are on, I doubt anyone cares what a rapist thinks of rape shelters.

And if they do, they aren't suitable to be in the position of making decisions.

Hoardasurass · 03/11/2024 13:58

I'm sure JK is devastated that bryony thinks her books and movies are shit 🫢

teawamutu · 03/11/2024 14:14

Given that the old 'this person who is clearly A Baddie thinks the same as you think so that means you are also A Baddie and agree with them on everything' trope gets used against GC women by TRAs all the time, I think Isla Bryson's views should be reported far and wide.

SensibleSigma · 03/11/2024 14:17

I’m sure right thinking people across the nation are shocked that rapist Isla Bryson has an opinion about how rape shelters are run, and thinks they know better than JKR- who has funded the establishment of a rape crisis service due to issues with the existing system.

GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut · 03/11/2024 14:17

I don't know why anyone would think a rapist's opinions on rape crisis centres are relevant - other than to do the opposite.

Quite.

Would someone convicted of harming animals get quoted about the RSPCA? If not, WTF are women less important than dogs?

MissFancyDay · 03/11/2024 14:26

It's hardly massive news, or even surprising really.

Kendodd · 03/11/2024 14:30

Actually I disagree with most on here and think the more people like Isla speak the better. Nothing shines light on the issue more than a trans rapist ranting that trans women should be in charge of rape crisis centres.

Yep.

It reveals the sheer fucking horror of the situation very clearly.

I doubt he’s read a book of any kind…unless it had pictures.

Cailin66 · 03/11/2024 15:50

The more Isla gets attention the better.

Indeed. Cue the press reporting on paedophiles and their criticism of safeguarding children.

TwistedWonder · 03/11/2024 16:18

Why should a trans woman be treated as a man in prison when we are women? Fact. No matter what anyone else says these people are just narrow minded who don’t even like themselves.

What a fantastically well thought out argument. And the use of ‘fact’ makes it true obviously!

Im sure JKR really concerned about the option of a rapist with appalling taste in pink leggings thinks.

eatfigs · 03/11/2024 16:28

Also notable that, contrary to the usual trans enthusiast propaganda, he doesn't say anything about how unsafe the men's prison is for "women" like him. In fact he implies the opposite, with him describing an in-prison courtship with some horrible nonce.

Calling someone "pathetic" is not a viscious verbal attack - what kind of journalist would write sensationalt rubbish like this?
Agree with other pp that his views should not be given any airtime - they are irrelevant anyway.

WhereYouLeftIt · 03/11/2024 17:10

That's a pretty good article. Yes they have given him "the attention he clearly craves", but primarily they have given him enough rope to hang himself. I particularly loved "Bryson said: “They should log me as a woman, I am a woman with boobs.” "Grin

He is referred to in the article as:
Trans rapist Isla Bryson
Convicted sex offender Isla Bryson
Double rapist Isla Bryson
The sex offender
Bryson, a biological male who transitioned after being accused of rape
The 32-year-old, born Adam Graham
Bryson
The rapist
Bryson
Bryson
Bryson
The rapist
Bryson
Bryson
Graham
Bryson

Not once is he referred to as 'she' (or, to be fair, as 'he').

Projecting much Adam. 🤨

YouAreOne · 03/11/2024 17:21

Who gives a fuck what this rapist thinks from behind his bars. I'm sure Joanne doesn't.

Fuck him.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 03/11/2024 18:01

Oh, I think Isla should be the default person for the media to roll out for opinions on everything relating to women, girls and the Criminal Justice System. Naturally, they'd need to confirm Isla's extensive qualifications and experience in the matter to prove the legitimacy and foundation of Isla's opinions.

'That's an interesting point - so, how would this differ from when you were found guilty of the rapes of two women, Isla? I can see how this perspective could be informed by how the college you attended for three months whilst awaiting trial for the two rapes that you were subsequently found guilty of were not aware of the criminal charges under your former name and identity, Isla. Must have been difficult to be thirty and in a class of 16 year old children, most of whom were girls. As a convicted rapist, Isla, what do you feel somebody in your situation could bring to women and girls who are seeking counselling for sexual assaults and rapes? Isla is joining us from Name of Male Prison where she is serving an eight year sentence for the rapes of two women - thank you for joining us, Isla. So, as somebody with convictions for rape and who will be on the Sex Offenders Register for life, Isla, what would you like to change about the sentencing of people found guilty of rape, sexual violence or coercive behaviour?'

lonelywater · 03/11/2024 18:53

since when did the witterings of dangerous criminals command space in newspapers? Who thought that was a good idea?

RoyalCorgi · 03/11/2024 18:59

I'm sure having a convicted rapist on their side will have done the trans cause a world of good.
