Convicted sex offender Isla Bryson has branded the Harry Potter author “pathetic” and backed under-fire Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre for employing a trans-identifying man as CEO.

Twitter removed its block so unfortunately her trans people related posts are appearing on my timeline again via other people retweeting her. waves Hi Roaling I know you lurk here.

I'm not a drinker btw, what's she's describing about champagne here almost sounds like she's projecting something she might like?

What J. K. Rowling does with her money - sets up charities for women, set up charities for children, gives millions upon millions of pounds to charity, stands up for women and children, has encouraged millions of children to read.

What you have said you will do? Go on endless holidays and play hobby sports.

If Chris had JKR's money, he'd still be online posting that he hates women

JKR has retained the legal rights to her works ( unusally ). What this means in practice it that if movie studio makes a HP movie JKR get final say on release.
The movie studio can't make slop and release it no matter how JKR feels about it because she retains the rights. Very smart woman.

I remember reading that it was JKR that insisted on British actors and no amazingly beautiful American actors with dazzling white teeth. I imagine that all the British actors are relieved about that decision. I even think she nixed a product link up with Coke. Clearly a terrible woman.

You seem to spend a lot of time online hating JKR for setting up rape crisis centres exclusively for women, Chris. Don’t you think that’s ironic, given your complaints about how much time JKR spends tweeting? How many times has she tweeted this week to make you think she spends more time online than you?

Just in case you hadn't read it, Roz Adams has received 70 grand in compensation for being treated to remarks like your post.

Plus (you know, just in case you haven't read this either)

"In his remedy ruling, Ian McFatridge, the judge, ordered the centre to publish a statement and to refer survivors of sexual assault to Beira’s Place, the women’s refuge established by the author JK Rowling as an alternative source of support for female victims of sexual violence."

So JK Rowling not only helping women receive tens of thousands of pounds for holding the opposite opinion to you, but getting the judge to make the centre refer to women to Beira's Place, too.

That's gotta sting. Women winning money, apologies, referrals to women only places - all for holding opinions the opposite of yours.

A 'TERF shelter'? Sounds good. When all the unscientific anti-lesbian misogynistic irrational homophobic unfounded trans stuff gets too much, somewhere to shelter for a bit, recharge our batteries - yes I think you've come up with a great idea there, Christinapple !

And yet you know the entitled men with lady feelz would still stamp their feet demanding to allowed into the TERF shelter

Datun · 06/11/2024 11:48

Yes, by TERF shelter, Christina means women only. And we all know what a magnet that is

It's like India Willoughby suggesting that all the women just go elsewhere into a place of their own 🤣

Self awareness is in rather short supply amongst TRAs.

teawamutu · 06/11/2024 12:10

Forget who the parties to the conversation were, but there was a rather excellent exchange on Twitter a while back that went something like:

Sanctimonious TRA: There's a special place in hell for real women who don't prioritise support super special bepenised women.
Viper: Give it five minutes and TIMs will be demanding access to it.

(Strikethroughs my own, obvs)

FlirtsWithRhinos · 06/11/2024 12:36

Hi @Christinapple , great to.see you engaging slightly with the actual topic of Isla Bryson, the trans woman rapist, supporting Midhra Wadhwa, the trans woman rape support centre CEO who has been shown to be responsible for a culture of fear and intolerance, in their mutual dislike of JKR.

But you still have not said what you think about Isla getting involved here. Do you think this rapist has a point? Do you sympathise with him? Has he been treated badly?

Because it is weird that you still seem more upset about the involvement of JKR in the discussion of rape support, even though as a woman who has directly supported rape crisis centres one would expect her to have an interest in this topic, than the involvement of an actual rapist.

So tell me, what have you done to support women to justify your dismissal of JKR? How many rape shelters have you funded? How many women did you rescue from Afghanistan?

Or are you one of those "if trans identifying males can't have it, no one can have it" type of activists? The ones who are happy to see women abused, attacked and excluded if they have needs you consider unworthy? The type of activist whose idea of winning is to pull supports down rather than building them up? The type of activist whose support of rape victims comes with conditions?

The type of activist whose first reaction, when faced with a woman who puts real resources into making things better for women, is to whinge that she's not doing it the right way? The type of activist who like Midhra believes it better to leave a rape victim traumatised than allow her to receive the help of a person you label transphobe? Is that who you are?

I hope not. I really, truly do.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 06/11/2024 13:55

A Terf Shelter! Describing a rape crisis centre for abused women! I've read some pretty vile misogyny on here from transactivists but that takes the biscuit.

When someone shows you who they really are, believe them the first time and all that. 😡

lechiffre55 · 06/11/2024 14:03

Female only TERF shelter will be the biggest magnet to the male women.
The problem is every time females make a space for themselves males turn up demanding to be let in.

I have a dream that the government builds a prison for male women, and every time a rapist says they are a woman they get sent to the male women's prison.
"But I'm a woman. I belong in a woman's prison."
"This is a woman's prison."
"But but all the prisoners are males?"
"You bigot! These are all women just like you."
"But but but I want to go to the prison where all the women are."
"This is a prison for women only. You are here."
"That's not what I mean."
"What do you mean?"

Yep. It really doesn't take long.

I've said it before, the mask doesn't just slip. They grab it with both hands, fling it on the floor and jump all over it in hobnailed boots.

Operation let them speak never, ever fails.

Sad They want nowhere to be safe.

Women who have been raped aren't allowed a place to heal where the weapon that hurt them is excluded. These people HATE us.

yourhairiswinterfire · 06/11/2024 15:36

She built a TERF shelter

What a scummy way to speak about traumatised raped women who need a single-sex space to begin to heal. Why does vulnerable women having a safe space away from men, something our Equality Act allows, anger you so much, Chris?

while trying to have Gov funding pulled from an existing one and bullied the women managers there because they aren't TERF?

Them not being 'TERF' wasn't the problem, as you well know. This is the centre that further traumatised rape survivors, wanted to gaslight service users, who refused to refer women who needed help to a more appropriate place out of pure spite, whose discrimination and bigotry has just cost them 70 grand, and now has a double rapist singing its praises.

lcakethereforeIam · 06/11/2024 15:51

Just popped in to see what was going on with this thread. I thought it'd be a quick dismissal of the fragrant Isla's opinions, because rapist, then the thread would disappear never to be seen again. Or page 2, much the same thing. I'm surprised to find anyone fighting the corner of a violent man. Especially one who's pink leggings arguably did more damage to tw than any 'terf' might dream of doing.

EvelynBeatrice · 06/11/2024 16:39

We need to challenge the denigration of women only spaces as anti trans and the women who support them as TERFS.
I have never seen JKR suggest that transmen be excluded from female only facilities.

You may suggest that JKR and other females who regard a significant minority of males as potential predators based on statistics and their lived experience and who prioritise safeguarding are guilty of misandry- I wouldn’t agree, but that would be logical and in better faith. The issue as you well know is not being trans, but male.

Datun · 06/11/2024 17:20

The issue as you well know is not being trans, but male.

Yes. And the media don't help by constantly calling trans identified men 'transgender person' or blah blah, who is transgender.

As you say, it's nothing to do with their trans status and everything to do with their biological class.

Because you would prefer to shut down any woman-only space and force women to accept men in their spaces.

I do hope you keep posting. It's very illuminating.

Oh no, Isla Bryson doesn’t love us. And we care so much what misogynists and rapists think of us. I expect JK is shedding a little tear….
