Hi all. Not really engaged with the current pictorial feast soz.

thought you might be interested in a spot of serendipity

a year or so ago my Dil asked me to view a house with her, and bugger me it was the very first house hubby and I lived in some thirty odd years ago and the first house of both my children.

needless to say she passed on that.

soooo I went to visit son and Dil and baby banned, and flippin eck, they were in the very same ward in the very same bed as I was 32 years ago. I mean what the ….

lcakethereforeIam · 07/11/2024 23:37

Oh, that's spooky. That bed, or the area it's in, has hosted three generations of the same family. Doesn't that mean you have squatters rights now? I'd have been so distracted by the coincidence, I'd have been like, 'yeah, yeah baby but, but...bed!'.

Serendipity indeed!

It must feel as though you have really deep roots where you live. I am quite envious of that concept, partly because it is quite the opposite of my own experience, in which everything has been swept away, demolished, lost, changed.

I'm with you...having moved all over Engkand and Wales (for work, mostly) I don't feel I have roots anywhere.
I had hoped that the last place I lived would be our forever home, as it was in an aspirational sort of place, but it turned out to be flipping horrible! I now live in the same city as my two daughters ( but not my son), but it's likely they'll both move in the next few years.
Maybe I should get a motor home!

To quote Nigel Molesworth, You have me, Sir, like a treen in a disabled spaceship.😂

Great quote. I love a bit of Molesworth as any fule knos.

MarieDeGournay · 08/11/2024 12:08

I just popped in to the Stockin' to see if there was any new of the BannedGrandBabby - incredible coincidence about the same ward/bed!
I take it Mother and Baby are doing what Mothers and Babies are supposed to do in these circs, i.e. 'well'. And GrandBanned too of courseSmile
Now could a gerbil bring me a selection of marlhmarlols, please - except for the semi-naked firefighter ones a few pages ago who looked like condoms stuffed with walnuts - as somebody once described Arnold SchwarzeneggerGrin

FuzzyPuffling · 08/11/2024 12:25

"...condoms stuffed with walnuts". Ha ha ha ha...yes!

Boiledbeetle · 08/11/2024 12:40

@MarieDeGournay worryingly the gerbils are already getting in the festive spirit (Glenda is legless in the store room having consumed two bottles of cooking sherry)

Anyway your "marlhmarlols" minus the firemen have arrived

What an amazing coincidence, @Bannedontherun! Did you get new baby snuggles with GrandBabyBanned? I can't wait to have twin snuggles, next year. I just love the velvety feel of newborn babies' skin.

OP posts:
lcakethereforeIam · 08/11/2024 14:13

What I remember from my eldest, when she was newborn, was that the curve of the back of her head fitted exactly in the hollow of my palm. It didn't last long, just weeks before she grew, but it felt wonderful.

Bannedontherun · 08/11/2024 14:15

@SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius Yes got cuddle for a couple of hours on and off he is so sweet.

They are home now thank god the ward was a hell hole of social services cases, removal of one baby, another young mum not coping at all, FaceTiming loudly, one, i am told was attending care proceedings via zoom for all to hear on the ward until the staff noticed!!!

I remember the mum opposite me in the ward was regularly calling the father of her newborn twins. He couldn't be there because he was currently "on holiday" at Her Majesty's pleasure. That and two babies born the same day as mine, being abandoned in hospital by their mothers.

ErrolTheDragon · 08/11/2024 18:54

Blimey.
The only untoward event when I was in with DD was one new mum trying to leave in the middle of the night because of the awful seagull-like squawking of a baby.
The midwives calmed her down and moved me and DD to a side room.BlushGrin

Boiledbeetle · 08/11/2024 19:09

I can't personally add to the giving birth stories, having never done that!

But I do know it absolutely pissed it down the day I was born, my mum had an argument with my gran on the payphone mid labour, and then the midwife having just delivered me said "Its a girl, and she's been here before!" My mother then pissed off all the other new mothers by refusing to feed me during the night and just left me to scream! Bet they were glad when she took me home!

I do good babysitting though!

Just popped back in after a heavy week, to find a lot to catch up on!.

Congratulations to the Banned family - that's wonderful news!

Now, three helpings of Inky's marlhmarlols, please, with a bowl of Android's version for afters, to celebrate!

(I also particularly loved the wheeled beetle and horrifying bouquet dragon of a few days ago, and Alison's mug. And the Trump-as-alien theory is surprisingly reassuring. It would explain such a lot! Too much else that made me lol to list here, so feeling so much better, now. This place is wonderful).

@ifIwerenotanandroid, perfect timing! Thank you! I love them all. Spoilt for choice - initially thought that the bottom right would be my mug of choice, but as it's maybe a bit too Hello Kitty, will settle for the one in the middle of the three, and keep the others safe behind the bar to try out later. A Baileys - mug-sized - to accompany the marlhmarlols will be perfect.

(Yes, I have a very, very sweet tooth. I thought you were supposed to grow out of it, but, if anything, it seems to be getting worse with time, and certainly with busy weeks like this one...)
