So the chief statistician in Scotland has issued the new list of gender identity that public bodies must ask us and collate data on

Oh FFS

Our government is insane. God getting these fuckers out cannot come soon enough.

Maryqueenofstots · 20/10/2024 22:01

Where are my preferred options “bored of this shit” and “don’t believe in this shit”??

Ririwind · 20/10/2024 22:01

Is the chief statistician in Scotland a teenager on Tumblr from 2012?

FionnulaTheCooler · 20/10/2024 22:06

How is "trans man" and "trans woman" different from "trans masculine" and "trans feminine"?

90049a · 20/10/2024 22:06

That’s very galectiemoenphobic of them. Who do I complain to that my gender has been left off? (For those who don’t know about my gender - https://gender.fandom.com/wiki/Galactiemoen)

There are around 5000 genders, so the list needs to be much longer to be inclusive - gender.fandom.com/wiki/Category:Gender_Identities

MissingLynks · 20/10/2024 22:10

If you actually read the article, there is no requirement for people to be asked to choose out of all 24 options, these are options someone who has indicated a trans identity might write in a free text box, which staticians would then need to record.

But hey why let the truth get in the way of a good frothy headline from the right wing press.

I have no idea

dp did a survey today (don't know what it was about) and for the "what gender are you" question the possible answers included "demiwoman" and "demiman". He was rather exasperated by it.

PurpleSparkledPixie · 20/10/2024 22:15

Autigender or Autism, gender is a neurogender, which can be understood in the context of being Autistic & when one’s Autism greatly affects one’s gender or how one experiences gender.
Autigender is not autism as a gender, but rather is having a gender that is so heavily influenced by autism that one’s gendered and autism cannot be unlinked.
Not all Autistic people will identify with Autigender, only those whose gender is influenced by them being Autistic.”
LGBTQ w/e WIKI

Nope. Still don't understand what it's supposed to be. The word gender has been used too many times and it's turned into blablabla.

Circumferences · 20/10/2024 22:16

Intersex isn't a gender, and it's not even "woke" to use the term. The correct term is "person with a DSD" who, if they have a gender identity, can have one from a choice of about 100.

It's not even an accurate list.

Crouton19 · 20/10/2024 22:20

But why? What is the point? They may as well ask what your star sign is, or favourite food. How is this data useful?

Bannedontherun · 20/10/2024 22:38

Maybe bust size, inside leg, none of the identities can be converted into useful data, that will influence public funding resources. Even if the general public fully understood these categories.

which as the national census debacle exposed, so a pointless exercise.

JellySaurus · 20/10/2024 22:52

"Are you Catholic or Protestant?"
"Neither. I'm atheist."
"But are you Catholic atheist or Protestant atheist?"

MissingLynks · 20/10/2024 23:15

JellySaurus · 20/10/2024 22:52

"Are you Catholic or Protestant?"
"Neither. I'm atheist."
"But are you Catholic atheist or Protestant atheist?"

This is exactly what it feels like to be offered 2 binary choices, neither of which fits.

Bannedontherun · 20/10/2024 23:38

sex is binary anything else is in ones head

Circumferences · 20/10/2024 23:40

That's why it's a good thing to separate sex, which is a binary M/F, from "gender" if you believe in such a thing, which is a spectrum. (There are as many different genders as there are people on the planet.)

Saves confusion.

Of course many people don't believe in gender identities so it's important to make space for gender atheists too by leaving the "gender" question optional alongside the more useful sex Q. Which hopefully the Scottish government are doing?

NPET · 20/10/2024 23:49

I like "neutral" - that's like "don't care one way or the other, just assign me a v or a p".

FionnulaTheCooler · 20/10/2024 22:06

How is "trans man" and "trans woman" different from "trans masculine" and "trans feminine"?

The latter two think they have found a way to be extra special.

GargoylesofBeelzebub · 21/10/2024 00:02

What a load of utter fucking bullshit. I'm so sick of this nonsense.

Notaflippinclue · 21/10/2024 00:05

Name and shame the twat

Devilsmommy · 21/10/2024 00:07

No, no and more fucking no! I am so done with this bullshit 🤬

Seriestwo · 21/10/2024 00:20

How do I explain to these pricks that me not having a gender is not the same thing as being a-gender?

it’s fucking ludicrous

Goneouttolunch · 21/10/2024 00:22

Can someone post the archive link to the Telegraph article please.

But why would any of it be relevant? Surely a ‘trans identity’ is enough?

Smartstuffed · 21/10/2024 00:36

Bigender... I read that as 'BigEnder', but I do have a generously-sized rear end so maybe that's why.
