So the chief statistician in Scotland has issued the new list of gender identity that public bodies must ask us and collate data on

Utter navel-gazing shite.

Did the statistician create this list with the help and guidance of Maggie PersonPerson I wonder?

I mean, I wouldn't put anything past the Scottish government now. I feel like we need to list all the batshit things they've done just to really hammer home how far down the rabbit hole they have gone.

I will start:-

Created a hate crime bill that makes everyone hurty feelings a top priority whilst missing out sexism or misogyny meaning women are only people who can't report a hate crime committed against them (when women are most likely to be victims).

Making the hate crime reporting anonymous and based on no evidence.

Allowing a Glasgow sex shop to be one of the places to report said hate crime.

Pouring hundreds of thousands of pounds of public money into supporting LGBT youth Scotland who have not one but two convicted paedophiles now in prison, one who was the CEO of the entire charity (with a lot of influence) and the other who wrote a guide book on how to go no contact with parents. Also, continuing to give them money despite no investigation into this charity and now there's more rumours of abuse and they are being sued. Tumbleweed from our Scottish government.

Two Scottish government ministers posing beside a sign calling for terfs (mainly women) and to be decapitated. No repercussions for those two. And now apparently there are allegations that the batshit sign holder is actually a convicted murderer and rapist

The whole absolute shite show of what happened at Edinburgh rape crisis, thanks to lots of Scottish government support.

The missing SNP money. The campervan. The ongoing investigation.

Police Scotland and all their nonsense, as helped and encouraged by Scottish government.

The fragrant Tiffany Scott (now deceased) and all those other violent, sexually abusive men in female jails thanks to government policy and SPS. Tiffany in particular was a man so violent even male prison officers were not happy having to be near him.

Confusing children so much in Scottish schools (thanks again to LGBTYS for this, amongst others) that one wee soul now identifies as a wolf. Because if the government is telling all children they can do the impossible and change sex simply by changing clothes then why not put on a tail and some ears and become a wolf?! Makes sense (sarcasm).

Anyone who says now hang on a minute here is called a hateful, bigoted, transphobic evil terf, racist etc etc (thanks big Nicola, appreciate the slurs).

That's me for now there's much more but I'm on a rage rant and I think I'll explode if I type any more in. Gah.

theilltemperedqueenofspacetime · 21/10/2024 10:38

Even if one believes wholeheartedly in gender ideology, this list is useless for information-gathering purposes, isn't it? We have actual laws about this, so why not let them guide the questions?

Say:

What is your legal sex? m/f

Do you have a GRC? y/n

Do you consider yourself to have the protected characteristic of gender reassignment? y/n

If you do not have a GRC, but the previous answer was yes, please explain why in the free text box.

(Would need carefully worded footnotes.)

'Frothy/frothing' and similar are clearly the words of the moment with TRA's. I've seen them come up so many times on recent threads. It's like a tediously predictable copy and paste.

(I do wonder whether there's a 'TRA big book of useful phrases' somewhere. Run a quick finger down the relevant page for pronouns or made up genders or whatever) and find the corresponding phrase. A handy quick guide!)

I prefer to think of myself as effervescent.

quantumbutterfly · 21/10/2024 10:59

Almost 5000 genders according to pp and whatever pronouns might apply. What a waste of brain space.

OTOH if genderwoo is some sort of job creation scheme for governments it massages their employment stats.

Autigender or Autism, gender is a neurogender, which can be understood in the context of being Autistic & when one’s Autism greatly affects one’s gender or how one experiences gender.
Autigender is not autism as a gender, but rather is having a gender that is so heavily influenced by autism that one’s gendered and autism cannot be unlinked.
Not all Autistic people will identify with Autigender, only those whose gender is influenced by them being Autistic.”
LGBTQ w/e WIKI

Nope. Still don't understand what it's supposed to be. The word gender has been used too many times and it's turned into blablabla.

That just sounds like a way to say autistic people are not being duped into believing in gender woo.
Effing duplicitous bullshit IMO

Whoowhoopitstbesoundofthedapolice · 21/10/2024 11:32

I identify as a cross between Moo Deng and a portion of a half-baked bread roll and I will not be reasoned with otherwise! Where's my option!?!

No, I get it representation is needed and all that but ffs who comes up with these terms.

popeydokey · 21/10/2024 11:36

Hoardasurass · 20/10/2024 22:11

I have no idea

Masculine doesn't mean 'man' and feminine doesn't mean 'woman'. Conflating those is partly how we got into this 'what a woman really is' nonsense.

No-one on here feel like they're agender? According to one authority, that means " a term for individuals who are genderless or who reject gender identification completely".

In a transy sort of way, obviously, not a sex-realist one... right?

LadyQuackBeth · 21/10/2024 11:37

I think this is useful, in a way, it will be the beginning of the end. If we just allowed people to identify as male/female - then you do have the arguments over whether you divide by sex or gender identity, for things like sports and toilets. If you have 24 gender identities - it's much easier to justify separating by sex and treating gender identity as a type of belief.

At both my DCs school and a sports club DD attends which is full of gender ID, it's the people who try to get you to use Xi/Xen pronouns or It/It's that tip people over the edge into thinking it's nonsense.

The argument goes: TW want to use women's spaces... we should let them, NBs need their own spaces too... I can kind of see that, there should be gender neutral, but... but... are you then mixing male and female NBs? what do we do about gender fluid, do they get to choose day to day? What about a femme presenting transman? What are you going to do about demi-gender? etc. Everyone I've seen, even those who are very TWAW at the start, has a breaking point where they don't think it is on them to be accommodating this stuff. The totally out-there genders are showing that it isn't a choice between trans rights and women's rights, so much as people having different levels of what they are willing to sacrifice. This is a much better starting point for discussion and expressing that you don't feel women should be sacrificing anything.

I don't think any political party (even Scottish Greens) would try to suggest that small businesses should provide 24 types of toilets on site or that sports clubs need to learn to coach and field this many variety of team. The interesting thing will be to see if the TW and TM side with all the other genders or can see the harm it does them.

DreamyCyanFinch · 21/10/2024 11:40

MissingLynks · 20/10/2024 22:10

If you actually read the article, there is no requirement for people to be asked to choose out of all 24 options, these are options someone who has indicated a trans identity might write in a free text box, which staticians would then need to record.

But hey why let the truth get in the way of a good frothy headline from the right wing press.

Surely the fact that tax payers money is being wasted writting this drivel is enough.
Or possibly the other side to this that it's insidious and damaging to young people, who buy into this, and think they can actually change sex?

popeydokey · 21/10/2024 11:40

"Male" or "female" only 'doesn't fit' if you think that it's describing something about 'you as a person' - your behaviours, personality traits, skills, preferences etc. rather than literally which body type you were born with.

Those who are progressive and inclusive enough to believe that you can have any personality type while still being one of the two sexes won't find a problem with which one 'fits'.

Imagine being asked for your weight and instead of choosing a number you think none of them fit so you write in 'thin and hungry' or 'plump and bubbly' because you think they match what you're like a bit better.

It should be Bigendian and Littleendian, of course.

What has Motorola computing forms for SegY format got to do with gender woo?

A Swiftian reference to boiled egg eating preference.

(of course in the context of computing, byte order actually does matter, I've had to write fun code in the past to deduce the enddianness of a binary file of unknown origin. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Endianness )

PriOn1 · 21/10/2024 15:23

“A University of Cambridge study has found that transgender people are three to six times more likely to be autistic, compared to those whose gender identity matches their biological sex.”

If ever a statement needed to be turned on its head, it’s this one.

The study should be about why people with autism are more likely to believe they are the opposite sex from reality. Starting from the false assumption that people “are transgender” makes this entire research pointless.

maltravers · 21/10/2024 15:34

“I don't think any political party (even Scottish Greens) would try to suggest that small businesses should provide 24 types of toilets on site” -

it would be 2, men and non-men, although of course the latter would also include men to be inclusive to all.

Meanwhile in Glasgow drug addicts don’t talk about pronouns:

I'll take a guess that the prevalence of 'look at me, I'm so special, I've got special pronouns!' 'folk' is considerably lower in SIMD areas where the deciles are in the most deprived 10%.

If it's for people who have selected trans identity why is one of the options "cisgender"? Why is intersex which is a medical condition included in a list of made up gender identities?

It's bullshit and you know it.

I’d have to answer ‘none of the above’ since I’m a woman, not cisgender. Even for those who find cis acceptable, why don’t the powers that be want to know if the ‘cis person’ is female, or male. They want that from trans-people. 😡🤬😡🤬
