NHS Fife tries to silence nurse

1000 replies

Hoardasurass · 13/10/2024 09:36

So as has been mentioned on threads about the Darlington nurses a nurse is sueing NHS Fife over its trans staff policy.
The poor nurse was forced to get changed infront of a man in the female changing facilities, when she complained about it she was 1st told to change in a cupboard if she didn't like it, then they tried to bully her into swapping shifts so she didn't work with the man in question (she wouldn't), then they wanted her to move hospital (again she refused) so then they suspended her without pay for months until her solicitor got involved and now they are trying to gag her by insisting that the court case (starts in February) must be held in secret (I wonder why) and will be in crt next month asking to restrict reporting on the case.

This case is really important in Scotland because the trans staff policy that's going on trial in this case is the Scottish government's own policy used in all public sector organisations in Scotland and works on self id. So when this case is won it will finally kill the Scottish government's self id policy in all public bodies

Lunch, back at 1.45

He even had a receding hairline in his graduation photo. Some men do start going bald quite early. Has the beard gone, I wonder? I presume the outward and cosmetic presentation will be carefully curated for the tribunal.

I imagine he will have the closest of shaves for the benefit of the judges.

nauticant · 03/02/2025 12:50

It's really annoying that although the witnesses are instructed to address answers to the tribunal panel and not the person asking the questions, the microphone is on the opposite side of the desk to the direction the witnesses are supposed to face when answering.

Signalbox · 03/02/2025 12:51

Sandie is an excellent witness.

themostspecialelfintheworkshop · 03/02/2025 12:52

I felt so awful for SP when answering. She sounded absolutely miserable. Those poor nurses having to wait outside. No doubt for ages.

It's not fucking rocket science to have single sex and 'gender neutral' changing facilities. The only possible reason you don't just do that is to offer up unconsenting women to be abused by male people.

As long as he feels super speshul, then it's all fine and dandy.

BettyBooper · 03/02/2025 12:58

Hiya all. I've got the court link and tried to get in but all I'm getting is blank screen... Password seems to have been accepted. To those watching, how do you know if you're in the lobby? Anything glaringly obvious I've missed? TIA 😳

bumbledenbarsk · 03/02/2025 13:01

It's a break for an early lunch

And, the only men who would insert themselves among unconsenting women in order to strip off, and presumable be in the presence of the women undressing are those who have no care to transgressing women’s boundaries. At best.

Hi. Not sure if this is to me (which would be a glaringly obvious reason 😆) I've been trying since 12 so it's not that. Thanks tho

lcakethereforeIam · 03/02/2025 13:12

Thanks to everyone updating the thread. I've just read TT. Did I understand correctly, did they threaten to sue the tribunal for 'deadnaming'?

Peregrina · 03/02/2025 13:17

I might have missed the obvious, but what is the question that the Tribunal is trying to address? Is that that Dr Upton is a woman, or is it that Sandy Peggie was discriminated against?

nauticant · 03/02/2025 13:18

It was more nuanced that that. Counsel for Upton said that NC deadnaming at one point for a particular purposes was harassment of Upton, and NC in her reply, caught off-guard by such a bizarre challenge, was musing about what action this could lead to and in those musings mentioned about this resulting in suing the tribunal.

Cailleach1 · 03/02/2025 13:27

That is the real crime, is it? Daring to call a lad by the name he was had been known as for at least 22 years. Isn’t it ironic how he can bring himself to practice with a certificate which was studied for, and conferred upon a Theodore Upton. In contrast to how it is being presented as if he would be having an attack of the vapours at the mere thought of his original name being uttered by an audacious woman.

ThatsNotMyTeen · 03/02/2025 13:43

Couldn’t help but notice Lorna Gordon on the Scottish lunchtime news was wearing a scarf of baby pink/blue “trans flag” colours. Coincidence?

First step is to get into the waiting room with the intermittent voice saying “waiting for the host to join”. If you’ve not got that far try coming out and back in. Make sure you “allow” anything it asks. If you get as far as the waiting room they should admit you but it may take a while.

You should have a white screen with a blue box on the middle, a crest above that and a man telling you we are waiting for the conference host to join.

BettyBooper · 03/02/2025 13:52

Thanks @Signalbox and @GCITC . I am not in the lobby! Right will look at other options....

Rightsraptor · 03/02/2025 13:56

I'm completely confused now as I couldn't really hear Sandie's story of what I presume is sexual inappropriateness /assault by a medic

She is explaining her past history of what is potentially misconduct / assault by a doctor when she was younger. It informs how she feels about a man in the women's changing room.

nauticant · 03/02/2025 13:59

It was her experience of an unnecessary and extended breast examination by a doctor, possibly more than once, when she was a teenager or a young woman.

Bannedontherun · 03/02/2025 14:00

@Rightsraptor No Upton did not sexually assault her. But was sexually inappropriate behaviour to be in female changing room disrobing. She told him he should not be there and, why that made her uncomfortable. He told her to make complaint.

Interesting that is not included in the tweets

themostspecialelfintheworkshop · 03/02/2025 14:06

Lovely that the NHS would rather leave the hospital understaffed and patients potentially at risk rather than just have single sex and gender neutral spaces, catering for those for whom sex matters as well as those with special identities that don't align with their sexed bodies.

It's all about allowing men to abuse women.
